Zähl represents high quality audio products tailor-made for professionals. Michael Zähl has over 35 years of experience designing & manufacturing analogue audio equipment from his base in Bergisch Gladbach Germany. Michael was the engineer and designer of the main custom mixing console at the legendary Conny Plank Studio; which was an important creative hub during the 1970 and 80’s.
Michael also designed and built the mixing console for Can Studio which can still be seen at Rock’n Pop Museum in Gronau, Germany. Over the years Zähl manufactured a lot of single-unit custom or small-series equipment for a very demanding clientele. Besides high end audio products Zähl has been offering a range of analogue broadcast products for the last 25 years. Since 2012 the main focus is on the AM1 mixing console and related pro audio equipment.
Saw him in London last weekend, absolutely spellbinding experience. Such a lovely modest guy, really enjoyed his elaborating on what he does on stage. I'll go see him again as soon as opportunity arises.
It's funny how a special kind of breed of musicians is all about "back to basics" and minimalism, and then use pieces like this console that costs 100 grand.

what I would like to know, the zero cross mute, is it switched by a relay? does the channel strip has a complete dc-coupling? is dc suppressed by a dc-servo?

Howdy I am thinking of playing live with only op1 field..but I am considering buying the tx-6. Will the new TE CM-15 be able to pug directly into the tx-6? Or do I need a dynamic mic? I plan on talking and or screaming…distortion, delay, reverb.
I always find it a bit weird to see music like this being shown to an audience, because I listen to it when I am in nature, or when I do creative or focus work.

I think it's entirely ok to do that. to warn about over-consumerism and simultaneously be advertising for a quality item. he literally even mentions the people in the room as " the ones who are about to purchase new equipment" and how they'd need to be more wary of what they do, which proves his sincerity. he explains in the middle of this video how he sold the stuff he didn't need. you must have missed it

I want 2 of them so i can have sixteen channels for over $ 200,000 Canadian. What a joke. M2 MBP, Apollo, UF8 and Adam speakers, acoustic treatment for home studio = $ 15,000 plus 1k in mastering plugins.
Wanderfull music. I was last year at Tricone Studios in Fumkhaus offering a workshop to a lot of people who came in. I wish I would have known about you and knock on your door. Maybe next time I go and visit my daughter I´ll go and meet you. Congrats for the music and your studio setup. (I would love to try your console)
This biggest thing I found mixing in the box without a summing box or analog console is Mono. In the analog mono domain you cannot replicate analog mono. Once you figure this out everything else messes together.
She must know the room very well by listening to reference mixes for how many years? like MeAndTheBoys said, mixing low level and headphones check for bottom frequencies helps.
What I love more about analogue mixers is someone appreciating the qualities of it. Just listening to you talk about sound is music in itself. Thank you.
sorry, this console might be good but looks somehow weird, disgusting and ugly... compare the looks to a SSL, Harrison, Trident, Audient, API or whatever.. don't save money on the design... the looks might be the argument to buy something in this segment where quality is top-notch anyway
I think the bare metal sides don't help with what I think is a brutalist look. It could have been made better with a side panel of ANY other material besides the one it's made of. It's got the same aesthetic tone as the original mackie 1604s. For US$6k per channel.
How can you configure theses? possible to configure 3 stereo and 2 mono channel mixers? How much does the unit in this video cost with 3 mono 3 stereo channels? interested to buy . Thanks.
@@el_dani Nope! I am still in the market for one. I have been in contact with Zahl now and for the configuration I want it’s not 50000 but it ain’t cheap! I’m going small but you can add more channels over time. They will be at SuperBooth so I’ll get to see it and test it out there.
@@el_dani I’m not sure they want people discussing prices here it seems best you get in contact with them by mail and they will send you the list. But I can tell you if you order the smallest frame (size 8) that costs 8000 euro then you fill it up to 8 channels as desired you also would buy the Master channel. Again separate cost. For me I’m looking at around 22000 euros.. It’s a big investment for sure.
