I completely disagree that it's comparable to the prequels because they actually sought to expand the bigger picture. This movie betrays everything for empty spectacle.
I've adored and loved the character of Bolt since I was a child and thats why ill have 2 plushes of him soon I do hope one day we'll get a proper Bolt Sequel he deserves a Bolt 2 he really does
It's my belief that Pixar wanted to make this a short film but Disney liked the idea so much that they said "make it a full-length film" hence why they had to stretch the story out thus not everything fits together because Disney can't make enough money fast enough and probably cut time that could have be spent working out the plot better.
My problem with Lighting switching with Cruz is that once again we have a cars movie that should center on Lighting but once again he is forced to play second fiddle to a side character. I don’t mind Cruz as a character but this movie sets up the rivalry between Lightning and Storm and it left me wondering how Lighting was gonna beat him. The solution just feels like a cop out because instead of Lighting having one last go at racing he is forced to give up his chance and let someone else win for him. It would’ve been better had we seen Lightning fight and claw his way to victory only to retire and train Cruz.
This movie is one of the few sequels topping the original, and has ironically influenced TWO of those sequels (Avatar: Way of Water and Godzilla vs Kong respectively).
One of the first disney movies I had (on VHS) and later on I hoped they would make a series based on it (like Aladdin, Hercule and such), but these days I fear it.
Fun fact: the dialogue for Sherlock Holmes in this film is actually a stock recording of Basil Rathbone, taken from a 1966 production of the classic short story “The Red-Headed League” by Caedmon Records. Dr Watson is voiced by Australian actor Laurie Main, best known as the narrator of the Disney Channel series “Welcome to Pooh Corner”.
The Xanatos Gambit sounds too much like, looking for that "silver lining", whenever something goes wrong in life. A Presidential Candidate who loses his or her first attempt to win nomination, might say, "Well, I put my name up for the nomination and I didn't win it. However, my campaign shows my work ethic, ability as a fundraiser, etc... and I'll be a strong contender for the Vice Presidential Nomination."
The one part that I love the most is the train scene. The fact that researched what a train in Ohio looks like. They made a spot on SD70M, in the CSX YN2 paint scheme. If you lived in Ohio during the 2000s, and even now, you will see CSX trains just like the one from Bolt, it connects it to our world and makes it feel more real.
You know what would be a great idea to go back in time to tell the directors of filming to make the bolt movie real about bolt the superdog and the villain Dr calico
Seeing a nod to Undertale (4:23) made me so happy. The themes and the charm of that game are such a good example of something great being underrated like Bolt is. Not that the Undertale fandom isn't big but I feel like the core game itself has become underrated as more and more aus and takes on it have grown? Either way, Bolt is a great movie.
Show some love with Disney’s “underrated animated marvel”!!!! It’s a hidden gem that should be remembered!!!! It’s like other cult classic spectacles that barely get the proper attention but somehow overlooked!!!
This movie is worse than home on the range It’s basically Disney trying to be like DreamWorks This movie tries to be like Shrek with the ugly colors and pop culture references but lame, unfunny, unfocused, dull, painful, and just down right mean spirited. The animation is not very good it’s abysmal and it really shows also, fun fact: it came out the same year as Madagascar and one year after Pixar’s the Incredibles and DreamWorks Shrek 2 how can the animation would look this bad and rough (maybe Disney should’ve helped Pixar and learn their lesson of betrayal after Disney was at a bad start on fully 3D animation chicken little), the characters are forgettable as hell, the jokes are not funny, the pop culture references are uuggggggh!!!!!! The context is empty, everything in this movie is just sloppy and unfocused and mean spirited and it hurts!!! I would rather watch zootopia and also watch Shrek, they have better storytelling animation etc. etc. etc.!
You didn't touch on the hilarious fact that this truly terrible movie had an ALL-STAR CAST! Malcom McDowell was Lord Maliss Phyllis Diller was Mother Nature Dom DeLuise was the Magic Mirror Carol Channing was Muddy Zsa Zsa Gabor was Blossom Ed Asner was Scowl These are not a bunch of nobodies who don't know how to act, these are masters of their craft and they STILL mucked it all up!
What?! Jeffery Katzenberg also pitched this to Disney but rejected it?! The reason I say “also” is because I heard Jeffery pitched The Prince of Egypt to Disney but was rejected for religious reasons. Now I can see Sinbad being more of a Disney movie than The Prince of Egypt cause I doubt Disney would wanna do an animated film about slavery
I appreciate blacks not stereotype caricatured. The race issue, though, was very 'sweetly' shown, sweeping much of reality under the rug. Not totally offensive though?
We know the depths at Disney Co. core from the Mulan remake - actually thanking abusive Chinese authorities!😡🤬 At least that perfidy ran as flat as it deserved.
My father, grandfathers, uncle, cousins, brother, and other assorted relatives are hunters. I myself have nothing against hunting and have even loaded numerous roadkills into my Dad's truck, one time with Mom, my sister, and my sister-in-law. That being said, I remember having both seen Bambi, but more specifically hearing it on cassette. This caused no issues in the family and was simply described as life from the animals' point of view. Thus the death of Bsmbi's mom was treated as sad, but also necessary, though other lessons were also brought to bear for young minds, such as the coming time when I would lose my own parents and family. Thus the story was in some ways our introduction to the very chilly realities of which life consist.
Don’t catch what anyone says, Brother Bear is one of the greatest Disney movies ever. Hell, it’s right up there with The Lion King. Not to mention, the soundtrack goes hard
