Just bought the same car a few weeks ago. I almost bought a 718 Boxster or BMW Z4. But I no longer enjoy spending big money on cars and the ND miata might be the last visceral analog car you can buy on the market right now. It’s not the fastest but boy is it fun!
May you please go inside of some of these shops and just show us what is going on there as I think many of us never been there. Especially because of law had been changed and next year we can not see a lot of reviews from weed shops in Thailand.
Hey Matthias! Maybe my request is not about your adventures right now, but I would be really excited if you may rent just the most popular motorbike in Thailand like Honda Click 125i and make a review about it and tell your opinion on travelling on this the most common rented bike here. I really love your reviews about sport cars, but not so many people can really rent them here...
Hi Yan, good idea! I will think about it. Thank you 👍. You will find on my channel one or two videos when I rent and drove a Honda Click 125 on the island Ko Lanta. But I didn‘t review the bike…
Thank you! It‘s good to get some support as my non-car travel videos don‘t get that many clicks. I hope I can improve and it will get better over time… But thank you very much! 🙏
Don‘t know what you mean. GS 1250 and 1300 are both 2-cylinder aswell. The GS 1250 with stock exhaust (I owned one) sounds amazing. The sound of the GS 1300 stock exhaust is a bit of a problem imo.
I went for the factory tires Bridgestone Potenza S001. I think the sporty but moderate grip levels in dry and wet match the cars balance and power very well.
Really enjoyable video. Just an easy-going dude on his hols living the dream. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Thanks for sharing this trip. 👍
your handling review differs from Mischa's who took it to the Ring - he stated that the handling is amazing. He pushed the car super hard....you are barely driving it around the corners lol
The Model 3 Performance handles way better than a Fiat Multipla for sure. But drive it yourself back to back with a Porsche, and then tell me again if you still think the Tesla is a great handling car 😉
So it’s a bit better handling than the fiat and nowhere near Porsche level of handling - I mean why not compare against another sports car in that price range? How does it compare to a GR Yaris / type R / m340I? if you are down grading the handling because you don’t feel confident that’s one thing and that’s a personal opinion. All the track tests in the US has shown great handling but horrible heat management of the brakes and battery. Those are facts because it makes decent lap times but cannot do more than a few laps.
The difference is that "Nordschleife" has a lot of fast "long" corners. The average speed is about 180km/h on the Nordschleife. So a car like e.g. M3 Touring can feel good in a long corner at 160km/h. BUT on a twisty winding road, you have tight corners with 70 or 80kph and most times you go not faster than 130kph. And that's the difference, If your car have a slight understeer you will feel it more on tight slow corners. And also if you compare the M3 Comp limousine xdrive has similar weight and power than the Tesla. And BMW has on the front 275 and rear 285 wide tyre's. But Tesla has rear 275 and front only 235! That's the problem. But in a 265 in the front and it will drive perfect ;-)
@kchen101 And the "old" Tesla M3P had a square setup with only 4x 235 35 R20. But as you can see on JP's Lasise only with a KW V3 and standard tyre's, it was with 55,1sec faster on Lasise as the new M2 Comp, the M3 Touring and I also faster than the Ioniq 5N. So you can imagine what will happen if you put a little chamber and 265 Cup2 tyre's on it. ;-) So on a tight smaller Racetrack the M3P can rip of the other cars. But on high speed tracks with a lot 200kph+ it struggles a bit. But I'm sure, with a square setup with 4x 265 and good tyre's, it's hard to beat a M3P on tight Racetrack, or winding roads. :-)
You want a beer and take water? If you really want a beer just get into a restaurant or bar in the airport. There you can drink even on a bhuddist day.
@@matthiasonadventures dont forget that this is a sporty car for everyday use, you cant compare it to a porsche, thats being silly and childish. its BMW afterall. porsche is at a completely different level.
@lehlohonolotsenasi6457 I daylied my Porsche sports cars for 7 years. Even my GT4 for one year and 30.000 km! I could not imagine a better daily driver than a Porsche! Honestly!!! 😉👍👍
@@matthiasonadventures Thank you! Heard so much good about this bike, now can’t wait to have it delivered, in the meantime, I will look for crash bars like yours. Could you point me out in the right direction? Sorry for keep asking!! 😃
Because of the noise restrictions in Europe.. all new BMWs sound like ass compared to what they sound like in other countries like North America(much deeper tone and more burbles). To me American V8s are great if you want to be loud.. to each their own I guess?
It's called something different, I had 2 gs vettes and a 18 zl1 from 2011 to 2022, now I have a m2 and enjoying the turbo whistle followed by the blow off valve and exhaust note, and I don't miss the v8 sound at all.😊
i have never driven a porsche, but been in some strong bmws and im already amazed by bmws. Now i really would like to try a 718 if youre saying its that much better
I hope you are looking at a 718 GTS cause the base 718 4cyl is meh. It's a considerable price increase going from a G87 M2 to a 718 GTS at least here in North America. My take is if all you can only afford a base 718 4cyl I would rather have the G87 M2 with its S58 engine.
I thank you for the honest review. I'm also a German twisty corners lover, and you are the first I saw with an honest review on German winding roads. 😊👍
@@matthiasonadventures The problem is, a lot of people don't notice or feel a good balanced car, or feel the steering. E.g. The Golf 8r a lot of people you can see "how good it drives, how great"... As I testdroved it, it was very understeery and only with a lot of throttle in each corner, the rear diff worked. But a don't like to give in each corner a lot of throttle, in my opinion a car has to feel also good without much throttle. :-)
@@matthiasonadventures As the Tesla model 3 Highland has approx the same weight, as a M3 Comp drive, you can see, that BMW has 275 in the front and Tesla only 235. But I ask me what is if I put a 265 30 in the front of the Highland and 1 degree more chamber. Would it be then great? Overall I like the low costs if you go daily in the town (6€ per km) with that Tesla Perf and you have now "Service" at 10 or 20tsd Km needed as the BMW M3.
Euh … So ridiculous … You should take a look at Soheil Ayari’s driving experience … That’s a pilot … sorry to be so negative but that’s what your video let me think about the way you evaluate cars and especially this one
He is not saying the car is not fast, he is saying it does not feel as sporty as cayman, which is true. When you have a porsche with a pdk trans you get excited to drive it when you get in
Thank you, I agree 100%! The PDK works perfect, lightning fast and super smooth. And the manuals in the Porsches (since 981 gen) are even better (not faster). Especially with auto blip! 😍👍
it's a shame and very misleading to test driving dynamics and not having track mode on, you can adjust the power delivery front/back, adjust esp, you should redo the test after a proper research
I agree, it‘s a shame! And I talk about this topic in the video aswell. When I got into the car I asked the sales man how to adjust the power delivery front / back and how to adjust the ESP. He told me that this was only possible in track mode, and that track mode is locked on the Tesla test cars (at least in Germany). This blew my mind 🤯. But I decided still to do a road test in the sharpest mode possible in that test car. Maybe (and I doubt it) the car handles very well in track mode. But why does Tesla hide this from their potential customers??? I tested the car exactly as I got it from Tesla. And in this config it did not handle very well!
Thank you for sharing this video. You were in track mode at the end, that is why the fan was going like crazy. It was in a preset profile, that is why you were unable to change settings.
Yes you are right. I asked the sales man when I got into the car if it is still double clutch as the F87. He said yes and I didn‘t double check. Sorry for disinformation! But the problem remains - I think it‘s a bad drivetrain. Gearshifts last forever and they are very clunky.
This M2 is faster around the track and on the straight then cayman GTS, has functional back seats, big trunk, way higher tunning potential and its much cheaper... F87 on the other head has terrible bouncing and jarring suspension that in G87 is way improved. s58 engine is a powerhouse u can get 650 HP with only simple stage1 tune also new M2 is less prone to understeer and in general has much more grip. Not to mention the interior that is two levels higher quality than previous car.
I agree in almost every point with you. But I don‘t really get what you want from a sportscar. Do you want a family car with back seats and trunk space? If so neither M2 nor Cayman is your car. Do you want a race car ready to seriously win track races or quarter miles? If so neither M2 nor Cayman is your car. I can tell you what I want from a sports car: Two seats, enough trunk space for a 2 week holiday road trip, and most important it should be great fun on twisty mountain roads and trackdays aswell (fun does not mean beeing the fastest). I have driven all 981 and 718 Porsche Caymans (except the GT4 RS) and can tell that even the 300 HP base Cayman is more fun to drive and better handling than this M2. But again that‘s only my personal opinion. Have you driven a Porsche 718 Cayman S or GTS back to back with this M2?
@@matthiasonadventures I rent base 718 cayman for few days and bought F87 M2 because it was more fun for me more raw and tail happy ,faster also . Then after 3 years I bought G87 becouse it's far more capable car little less wild but faster and better overall imo. When you're a single or a couple without kids G87 M2 is best do it all car from all three mentioned, crazy fast , pretty comfortable and practical when you want to that can't transform into street hooligan with one button. When you can have multiple cars and much more money I can agree that cayman GTS may be better as a pure sports car, depends what u expecting.
@@matthiasonadventures auto , I know every "pure driver" especially from the states now is booing me but I actually think auto works better with s58 power band and in general manual goes better with naturally aspirated engines, and yes dct was better but I had to replace mine in F87 after tune after clutches failure. Nth like that should happened with zf8 speed
the charging cover episode was painful to watch. The US cars have a different battery, hence the higher HP. Not sure what the fixation about Apple Car Play is....as an iPhone user who drives a Tesla I can state with authority that the Tesla system is better. Far more integrated. The amount of time spent in this video with the creator being clueless about how the car works was ridiculous, Perhaps you should try just a little bit to understand the car before "testing" it. All in all, a waste of time.
Love your honest reviews Matthias. Not sure how easy it is to get your hands on the current Type R in Germany, but would be nice to hear your opinion on that one.
Hi Elmo, thank you very much! I would love to testdrive a current Type R! But I will travel for a long time, so probably this won‘t happen anytime soon. I‘ll keep you updated on my channel what‘s up next…
@@matthiasonadventures from watching your videos I think you might really like it, especially the automatic version. I was daily driving one for almost 5 years, now I've switched to MX5 (and this is how I found your channel).
Not a V8 as promised - well noticed! 😉👍 Unfortunately I had to skip the Corvette C8 because my sister went to hospital for emergency operation the same day. So I prioritized family over V8 😉
The sportiest street car Mercedes built in the last 10 years was imo the AMG GT S/C/R (maybe the AMG A45 aswell - never drove one). Some years ago I drove a 510hp AMG GTS back to back with my 325hp 981 Porsche Cayman S on a twisty b-road in Germanys Black Forest. Although the AMG GTS was great fun to drive, the Porsche was A LOT more fun imho.
