I've always loved this song...I wish John could have recorded it when his voice was a little stronger.....Springsteen wrote it but it was always made for CASH.......
I'll sweep out your chimney Yes and I will bring you flowers Yes and I will do for you Most anything you want me to If we live in a cottage You will feel like it's a castle By the royal way you're treated And attention shown to you I'll be there beside you If you need a crying shoulder Yes and I'll be there to listen When you need to talk to me When you wake up in the darkness I will put my arms around you And hold you 'til the morning sun Comes shining through the trees I'll be right beside you No matter where you travel I'll be there to cheer you 'Till the sun comes shining through If we're ever parted I will keep the tie that binds us And I'll never let it break 'Cause I love you I will bring you honey From the bee tree in the meadow And the first time there is a rainbow I'll bring you a pot of gold I'll take all your troubles And I'll throw 'em in the river Then I'll bundle down beside you And I'll keep you from the cold I'll be right beside you No matter where you travel I'll be there to cheer you 'Till the sun comes shining through If we're ever parted I will keep the tie that binds us And I'll never let it break 'Cause I love you Yes I'll sweep out your chimney Yes and I will bring you flowers Yes and I will do for you Most anything you want me to If we live in a cottage You will feel like it's a castle By the royal way you're treated And attention shown to you
I'm surprised the "woke" People haven't attacked this song for its lyrics. Maybe even they are smart enough not to attack Cash or Springsteen. Let's hope
In this scene his wife seems so happy for him and appreciative of his talents for time in the movie until she realizes the song may be about her. Really helps to display the resentment she had for his superstardom.
Bin mir nicht ganz sicher , JC ?, wann hat er das denn gesungen, denn die stimme klingt so ganz komisch anders. Vielleicht erst im hohen Alter gesungen. Liebe JC,RIP
I know most people say she was portrayed badly in the movie but i think she was brave. Johnny let fame get to his head and got a crush on June, then his wife found out. They portrayed her as angry , and stood up for herself and her family . Most women in those times wouldn’t have dared test their husbands so to show her as an angry wife who left him, shows real bravery in terms of standing up against his adultery
Cash became a favorite of mine after hearing my father playing his records in the 60's. My father had a small record collection and played many to point of wearing them out. Maybe that's why its been a big part of my life.
Besides everything else supposedly Johnny Cash got one of June's sisters pregnant (Anita) while he was married to June and June was pregnant with her son and Anita had an abortion.
Sounds like he had thing for kids and his wife was the only one who could keep is desire cool cuz he's on fire...come on. Hey "little girl" is your daddy home? Are u alone I got a bad desire. Smdh
@Ashley Simsipm what made you go to this ugly, interpretation - your mind must be very dark! This song was written by Bruce Springsteen who released it in 1984 or 1985, and it has been covered by other singers. It is an adult love song! Many adult couples have playful fond names for each other, including Baby, and Little Girl, that have absolutely nothing to do with the ugliness you have stated. Peace be with you! This Johnny Cash cover, which he is singing to/for his wife June Carter Cash (who he often called Baby during live performances and in letters he wrote to her that have been published) is lovely and very moving.
Johnny Cash, when he first came to Nashville, went to get voice lessons. After the first session the instructor told him, and I paraphrase, "Don't change a thing." Thank God.
Hi, I remember another Version of this Story. Johnny himself told it in an interview with Ralph Emery. His mother arranged singing lessons for him at the age of 14. The teacher told him after the 3rd lesson " just do it always your way. There are no more singing lessons necessary " . And that he did. Greetings CD RiP Johnny CASH.
