I stewarded many times for him at Loonmountain highland games. When Alistair played , it was a musical journey. He was so humble,he would see you walking at the games and always take time for a wee chat.
I had the pleasure to meet Alasdair at a Balmoral School in 2008. While I was very new at piping he was so kind to me. Such a loss to the piping world.
Thanks for putting this on. Being a new piper, I was very disappointed that Winter storm was cancelled this year. I live in southeast Kansas, so I will be there next year. Thank You again.
Never got the chance to attend in person before, so I didn't know what I was missing. All I can say is I'll definitely be there next year once Covid clears up!
UPDATE your website with the @home concert details at the banner top please? Viewing times included? (so the international contingent can work out when in probably the wee hours to be awake with a pint and pc to hand, lol!) And thankyou for your efforts; we out in the rest of the world really, really appreciate it!!!
Yes it is a nice tribute Drew. But why do Americans have to say inane things like "best piper of the 20th Century?" What about Donald MacPherson and his 15 Seniors at Oban, 9 Clasps and 7 MSR's at Inverness? Or Donald MacLeod and his 8 Clasps? Or John Burgess? And knowing Alasdair as I did he would be appalled at folk saying that. Great recording by the by!
