What you did was take up the slack between the locked and unlocked position of the actuator. If the locking mechanism is working, and the cable is in good same (not stretched/damaged) the proper fix would be at the lever/handle. Take the handle out by removing the 2 10mm nuts, slide the handle back enough to get to the hinge and spring on the back, clean and lube it before putting it back. It should now be freely operable and will return itself upon release.
I have a 2018 Fit. It started sticking a few weeks after I purchased the car new. The Honda dealer keeps telling me there is no issue with the latch. I discovered all they did was spray a mess of lubrication up into the latch. I now have to lubricate the latch within every 2 weeks. A quick follow up on this issue. I remove the latch and cleaned it up making the metal look close to new. I then coated the parts with the silver brake grease. I decided to try this because this grease does not run and is quite resistant to salt and water. It has been a while now and the latch still works nicely.
Someone smashed into my Honda Fit and my hatchback shuts, but the door light warning light stays on in my dash. Is there any ideas to get the light from staying on?
Hey, I'm going through this issue right now. Is it just the latch mechanism that needs to be replaced or is it an issue with the notoriously rusty handle not engaging the latch mech. Thanks.
You need to remove the inside panel by releasing in as many places as you can and then pull it off. If you cannot do it, you could cut a hole in it from the inside to access the area as a last resort. But I removed the trim panel from inside with some pulling and prying
