I’ve always heard horror stories about the taste of the prep, but I didn’t have anything like what is mentioned. I was just told to take two Dulcolax at 10 AM and around 12 PM to dump an entire bottle of MiraLAX into a quart of green Gatorade and spend the day drinking it. That was it

Now there’s a total of 24 pills to take before the colonoscopy. I think I prefer the drink last time cause I’ve never been good at taking pills

Great video doctor. I’m having my colonoscopy on Monday September 9. I’m nervous. I dread the prep and the sedation. I heard a colonoscopy can be done without sedation but I don’t think that’s the right thing to do. I have lots of anxiety so if they relax me I think that’s best. Your video was very helpful with the prep.

I appreciate the advice on how quickly to take it. My Dr didn’t tell me that part. AND I really hope the miralax does its job because my procedure is in the EARLY morning so it’s this or nothing. I got very little advice, I gotta say. For instance, they didn’t advise me about doing the low residue diet but I found the info online and did it anyway. If I live through the prep I’m looking forward to getting this over with.

There is a big problem arising in my home, my mom got blood poop. She discovered she had colon cancer, so I trying my level best to get her best treatment, but I needed more guidance from the medical professionals in our community. If you know any medical specialists, it would be great to help me take the next step to save her life.

Hey Fred, I got a few questions... - What would be the effects if you used herbs that make you go #2. - What about using enemas after each dose of the herbal teas effects? - Wouldn't using herbs or other inflammation reducers assist in not needing to cut into the bowl/intestine. It just doesn't make any sense, the need to cut and create potential issues with healing (especially for diabetics and other...). Thanks for the great contents! Cheers!

I've had a bunch of them. The prep has evolved over the years. The past couple of times, with the reduced volume, I have been able to guzzle it in three to fives gulps. Chug works for me.

I vomitted suprep up after 3 sips of the second bottle. I went without eating for over 48 hrs. I tried so so hard.....i drank most of the water required. It was so hard on my 100lb body. I used the straw, tried not drinking it down so fast. 1rst bottle fine, it did its job. In the middle of nite, i was nausieted so early in the morning tried and forcefully, vomitted it up. Put it in fridge....i was so weak, tired, and sick. They were able to get part way up, found polyp and took biopsies, but need to do it again😢 waiting for results, but i dont think i can do it over

I had 2 small polyps removed 10 yrs ago and then had a colonoscopy last January where he found and removed 20 non cancerous polyps. I was shocked. Now I have to do yearly scopes and I’m hoping my dr approves me using alternative bowel prep to go lytely. I had gastric bypass 13 yrs ago and it’s hard for me to drink so much. I also have sphincter issues from a traumatic child birth so the prep is super hard for me. I start a bit earlier than 6pm, like 4pm to be able to get all the gallon prep in. I also have nausea issues with anesthesia so I request a scopolamine patch to wear that day. It helps a lot. I apply it the night before to get it in my system before the procedure.

I’ve had several colonoscopies and my last one I had 20 polyps. All were not cancerous but now I have to have yearly scopes. I could not get any prep but the gallon jug prep “go lytely” my insurance wouldn’t cover the small bottle prep. It’s hard to drink that much so I started earlier than 6pm. I did clear liquids the day before alternating warm broth with cold clear liquids. Very doable. The prep night is a demon. I took many showers that night. Remove any bath rugs or anything you would not want to get dirty in your bathroom before you start your prep. I have some bowel control issues from a traumatic childbirth so I have extra issues with the prep. But, my dr said my colon was as clean as it could get. Don’t stop short of finishing prep or you’ll have to do it all again.

I'm disappointed with this advice. It is the standard advice for healthy living. It is what is cited as a way to correct or prevent almost every disease. It what I lived by. I still contracted colon cancer without a history of it in my family. I was the first. It does NOT prevent colon cancer. A healthy diet, exercise, sleep and avoiding toxic substances is VERY important for health, but it will not prevent cancer. Cancer rates are increasing - not just the number of people, the percentage of people. Worse, people are contracting it at younger and younger ages, often before screening is allowed. There is a growing number of people who have been diagnosed in their 30s and 40s after having symptoms and seeing doctors for years. Doctors don't know why. Screening at an early age and removing polyps is most effective tool medicine has to prevent colon cancer at this time.

I had one 3 weeks ago. I made the prep up earlier in the day and chilled it and drank it through a straw. I didn't have anesthetic or sedation. I was fully awake. I just had gas and air Entonox. I was fine later and I was driving later that day.

I had a 4cm villous adenoma removed. I woke up during the sedation due to the pain when he was cutting away at the polyp. I am to have a repeat colonoscopy at the one year anniversary. I can’t ever forget the pain I felt during the procedure as I regained consciousness midstream. I was told it could easily return Thanks for the video explaining how the stalk is formed as stool pushes downwards. My experience is that it took much longer to burn the polyp off so that it be removed. The question I would appreciate if you could answer is how many centimetres was that polyp in the video

Thanks, Dr. Gandolfo! Just had a colonoscopy yesterday with Miralax prep - extended because of 'torturous and redundant colon' - so two days of prep (three doses) before the procedure. This prep worked well (9 out of 9), only because I took Dulcolax (saw another of your videos about taking Dulcolax with Miralax, which was so helpful!), but it was extremely uncomfortable and nauseating on the third and last dose of Miralax prep (without Dulcolax) about 10 hours before the procedure, even with an anti-nausea drug, so throwing up and major, crushing headache. I don't have to have another colonoscopy for five years (thank heaven), but am already looking for a prep that is easier to endure. After watching this video, Sutab seems like a good way to go except for the size. Pills that big get stuck in my throat and that's a lot of pills. Can I crush them to get them down? Or do they make smaller pills? Also, what is the prep procedure with Sutab for someone who previously had to do an extended prep?

I'm in the UK and I had one about 3 weeks ago. You don't get anesthetic, you have the option of being sedated, but I chose not to be sedated as I didn't want the restrictions on what you are able to do for the rest of the day. I just used the gas and air, Entonox. I felt fine for the rest of the day and I was able to drive. Some people even drive themselves to the hospital for the procedure.

Drinking 4 liters of Gavilyte-C has reminded me of Homer trying to scale the Murderhorn…he reaches what he thinks is the summit, only to look up and see the actual summit. I separated out 1 liter for the morning of the procedure, before starting to climb Mount Diarrhea. It felt so good to throw away that comically giant jug the pharmacy gave me, then I remembered the pitcher of 1 liter of diarrhea potion waiting for me in the refrigerator, and all I could do was curse and laugh. Almost to the summit, by the way. I hear there’s a VERY friendly snake waiting for me there.
