I was bodyboarding a rivermouth shorebreak having a blast after heavy rains. Silky smooth barrels; brown water full of twigs, leaves and junk. After a few hours of trying to comb that shit out, dead arms and tears, I decided to take the chopper to the mane. No gain, no pain 😂

Holy smokes. I saw waves like this back in 07 travelling south toward J Bay. About a day’s drive north. A muddy brown sharky looking river mouth wave just firing off. And big. I was alone and spooked so didn’t go out. As you know surfing with just one other person can reduce your risk of shark attack by up to 50%. Alas, one of life’s regrets.
