Kirton Games is Mid Devon's Premier independent wargames store, stocking a wide range of products including Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, X-Wing the Miniature Game, Star Wars Armada, Star Wars Imperial Assault, Magic the Gathering, Warlord Games, Bolt Action, Curious Constructs and much much more. We also run regular events including local and regional tournaments, games days, hobby classes, under 16's and introductory sessions.
It’s a shame Okehampton is closing, but putting all your time, effort, money and ideas into Kirton is going to be fantastic and only good things can happen because of it. I’m very excited to see what happens in the future at KG
I started in 2nd ed, really started playing properly in 3rd so those two editions are my nostalgia. On balance though, I think I agree with Rob- there's never been a better time to engage with 40k. Here's a few points I thought of- feel free to ding when you read them 😂 - Gw are managing game balance more proactively than ever. - 40k is at peak popularity right now, post covid boom etc. That means you get to meet and play a wider range of opponents. - Model/paint technology is at the best level it has been. - The community is more diverse and generally very friendly and supportive. - Tournaments and events are generally a very sporting experience, I think standards of behaviour in the competitive scene have evolved quite a lot in the last few years. - We also have more choice of events as the game grows more popular.
Maybe don’t make political statements about your audience. You could try and be a bit more diplomatic about it and just say “it doesn’t matter” or “don’t get so worked up about it”
Not sure we are making any statement about our audience chief! We are addressing something that is predominant in the online discourse and giving it a take based on our combined 60 years of being in the hobby.
@@KirtonGames calling people pathetic, implying that they’re ok with fascism are two examples of getting emotionally invested. Stay above the discourse, you’d be surprised who’s in your audience. You did eventually settle into a more measured position but you need to calm it down before chiming in on something with so much (unnecessary vitriol). I’m just trying to help.
Thanks for the feedback, more than happy to review it. I think that the nuance of the specific example of both the things you mention got lost, mostly as it didn’t feel appropriate to quote it directly. That said we are committed to inclusion at the store and there is a kneejerk response to GW every time they do anything that changes or advances. The world of content isn’t it - constant grist for the mill
@@KirtonGames agreed. We’re more likely to bring people to this way of thinking by being kind. It’s not their fault people just get caught up in the storm. Ask people face to face and most of the time they’ll realise that most “culture war” stuff doesn’t really matter. Not saying that all of it doesn’t matter though.
Cool fact: Only the Supreme Grand Master (currently Azrael) knows that Luther is alive inside the Rock, and they used to speak regularly when Azrael needed advice and guidance. Recently, upon the opening of the Cicatrix Maledictum, some daemons attacked the Rock and stole Luther away, probably against his own will. I, for one, am really looking forward to see the Lion and Luther reunite.
The hobby grew too big for small GW factory to be able to fulfill the world's needs in plastic crack. I am afraid prices will creep up untill demands stabilizes.
The GW official green color scheme for the Dark Angels is slightly darker than the one used for Salamanders. The dark green here is just for what I’m assuming is the new Inner Circle, since Asmodai went from wearing black to this new dark green. Still hate it. Should have stayed with the black armor from the HH
Liked the video, but could barely hear the voice over the music. Also if memory serves the flaw in the dark angels gene seed may be psychological, such as paranoia.
Maybe but the more you practice the better. Get a decent mic and try vocal excisses. Then make sure you write a scribt in short paragrafs so you can edit and if you really really really need it, add a bit of a filter @@KirtonGames
Thanks for watching - we’ve stocked Mantic over the last ten years. Doesn’t always sell as well as you’d want but if the appetite is there locally we will revisit.
A very nice and well put video tim,the price hikes always suck but we all still buy the products,I'm lucky iv got a few aos army's and a backlog of grey so my spending on the hobby has be extremely minimal, and I'll just get stuff now and then if really need it,the people saying they just gonna get a 3d printer I'd just a knee jerk reaction that most will never follow through but it is a very real threat, these price hikes feel like a weird flex as gw know they probably don't need to do it,but if small businesses go out of business and players don't have anywhere to buy and play they'll shoot themselves in the foot, but does feel like they don't really care,as long as money is going into their pockets it a middle finger to the smaller businesses where they probably sell the majority of their products from.
Good quick guide for an easy fast way of getting lots of troops ready for the tabletop! If I could add my 2 cents: For a more vibrant and less splotchy result, create a approx. 50/50 mix of Akhelian Green and Contrast Medium, and do 3 or 4 thin coats of that over the groundwork of Leadbelcher and silver overbrush. I did 2 squads of beakies in the way described in this (and GW's) vid, was happy with the result. It came out looking rather disastrous on a contemptor though, which is where I refined the technique into multiple thinner coats for a more even and vibrant result! Considering redoing my beakies now... xD
Ooh, would love to see how they came out. Thanks for the tips - we are going to try this on an army soon and I was thinking of how we might refine it for a speedy yet smooth finish.
Good take lads. Personally I never liked nor wanted squats. To me they just seem like stunted marines and there are already loads of marine style armies in 40k. I would much rather have seen a new xenos faction like the kroot get their own book. They would have some incredible models and play the game very different to existing factions which I find much more interesting and I would 100% collect a kroot army.
Really good cast, probably the best FW kit I have had. Getting one of the first casts is probably helping before they run loads and the moulds wear out a bit
