Lol. The idea is that there might be a few people curious enough to read the narrative and stick around and nudge the retention rate a bit. There might even be some folks that miss a word and rewind to read and increase the viewing time even more. Hopefully the screen shots are effective highlights that work whether the summary is read or not. With all of that said, I try to keep each video less than a minute and a half, so they are especially intended for shorter attention spans. Mileage may vary. Lol
Memory Alpha says that with both episodes, Roddenberry intended to introduce "the wants and needs" of the characters. It also says "he was aware he might be accused of simply copying the original series."
It sounds funny, but it’s true! “The Cage” was made in 1965 but was not broadcast as part of the Original Series. Parts of it were used for “The Menagerie,” which aired in 1966. It was released on VHS in 1986, but with some black & white footage. It was not broadcast in the complete all-color form until 1988. 🫠
