This played on Nickelodeon, CBS on Saturday Mornings, The Family Channel, WTAT, and one of my local channels all the time in the 90's (though I saw it more on Nickelodeon in the late 80's).
OOOO GIMMIE GIMMIEEE❤❤❤❤❤ I freaking love Batman 1989 with all my heart like it's my favorite movie to the point like it's that one movie I can watch nonstop and not be bored. The soundtrack and music for it is amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ fun fact i was listening to the sound track earlier today
The Real Ghostbusters was my favourite animated series and it ran from 1986-1991. Then, the cartoon held off for 5 or 6 years and we had nothing. The characters changed from Dr. Egon Spengler's College Class which eventually became The Extreme Ghostbusters in 1997.
ReBoot and Beast Wars are from the same company. It's a very referential show. The first season is very kiddish, especially the first 6 episodes where they lean on the Looney Tunes sound effects. They also had notorious conflicts with the network censors at ABC who wouldn't let them get away with a ton of things they wanted to do, which ultimately lead to the show getting dropped from the network after the second season, but it continued in Canada for a third, more mature season, then got picked up by Cartoon Network who re-rand it and ordered a fourth season, with huge plans for merch and then an exec came in and pretty much cut those plans off at the knees, leaving season 4 semi incomplete. As an example of how ReBoot matures, in Season 3 they based a character's general design off of a dancer from a strip club down the street from the production office. For me, rewatching ReBoot is like going back and replaying Doom, Tomb Raider or Half-Life. Yeah, the graphics since those games have improved, but the games themselves don't live off of the graphics alone. The Tearing might not be a great example of what ReBoot will be, but it's got it's characters and world all primed and ready to go, and if those were of any interest at all, then enjoyment might still be found in the series. Season 1 episode 9 might be the best episode to hook someone in, but 1 and 4 also have some merits in that regard too. Personally, S1 has always been my fun, light adventure comfort show for when I'm feeling sick, 2 is IMO, one of the best examples of steady increase in plotting, 3 is just a darn good dark show, and 4 is a bit weaker but kay follow up, especially if one has gotten invested into the characters. The hook for this first episode back then definitely was "look at all this cool stuff we can do with CG!" And now it'd have to be "Look at all this older style animation, this was cutting edge, look how far we've come." Oh, and you mentioned Buzz Lightyear's wing, ReBoot actually premiered the year _before_ Toy Story came out. And the show doesn't look that much different from that first movie, just more technicolor.
Thats a lot of great info! I didn't know any of that. I totally agree that the animation is not in total control of a show's outcome. Although things can look dated, storyline and characters can really lead a show to become very re-watchable. I definitely remember as a kid being super impressed with the CGI animation, and so it holds a great place in my memory.
What a cool review! All the kids voices you see in this episode are their real voices. :) Marta = Martika. Stacy Ferguson = Fergie. Rahsaan Patterson = Incredible R&D singer Renee Sands = WIld Orchid with Fergie. Jerry Sharell = VP in Hollywood :) Mario Lopez was a dancer/drummer on the show for the first 3 seasons over 65 eps. The kids worked hard in this season as they recorded over 150 songs across 26 episodes. The show lasted 9 seasons with over 150 episodes and over 700+ songs recorded. And no auto tune in sight.
That is so awesome!! It kinda reminds me of the talent of the old school Hollywood. Actors not only needing to be good at acting, but at singing and dancing too.
@@adventurecoats And it was a lot of work - recording 15 songs a week for 3 eps and learning dialogue AND choreo :) Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Thats awesome! I don’t remember watching the Megaman cartoon as a kid, but I remember seeing the Critic. It was definitely a show that was over my head as a kid, so I would love to revisit that one! Thanks for the suggestion!
FUN FACT! The younger blonde haired girl, Stacy Ferguson, is a huge celeb we missed. That’s FERGIE!😳😳🤯🤯 haha. Also, Gloria(the older brunette) is Martika who sang TOY SOLDIERS!😬
Man, I totally forgot about this show. Good call back! Watching this reminds me of two other shows I watched growing up. Dumbo’s Circus and Pooh’s Corner.
@@BobbyBoobie-cd7zyone time I was in county jail and these guys were talking about illegally selling switches. And I turned over all excited and said Nintendo switches!? 😃 And they looked at me like. Who let the f**kn nerd in here😂 Lmao good times
So if I remember right, she is from Brazil. I’m guessing that she had a hit show over there, so one of the US television companies brought her here to see if it would work in America. I have it on my first episode list, so we’ll cover it soon!
Another fellow Arkansas content creator here! That was an awesome grand opening! I just subscribed to your channel! Looking forward to watching your videos! Take care!
If your interested, feel free to check out a the short-lived sitcom animated series "Capitol Critters" . Dont know if it will be to your liking, but its not like any typical cartoon such as Garfield or Heathcliff.
@@adventurecoats I hope you find it interesting. The show only lasted one season due to it traversing into controversial topics of the 90s. I guess it was considered quite dark for a primetime sitcom show.
I loved this show heh and this reminds me that I had a best friend at school as a kid and her brother won a trip to halifax (, ns aka nova scotia, in eastern canada) on this show heh well the canadian one which was basically the same the mona lisa one (nvm wtf that accent was 😅😂) is almost a trick question because she said dutch but would her medieval self know the difference between dutch (amsterdam, the netherlands) and flemish (antwerp, belgium), especially in those days? almost the same language (same as afrikaans) and flemish is seen by some as a dialect of dutch even now let alone…lol US education was less shit then I guess hah
