Just went out on the el dorado today on the overnight trip caught one blue and in total the boat caught 16 tuna and two yellows out of thirty people coming
That Jetty is dangerous as hell. I'd stay away unless your young, brave, and VERY sure footed. It's no joke. Boulders the size of cars and most are not flat on top.
Was surf fishing and on a 1 cast out my leader snapped and I lost my first luckycraft lure that bought and on another occasion snagged my krocodile spoon
My best recommendation *(for the breakwall/jetty)* would be to use lead head jigs with soft plastic bodies. You can buy bags of those. Also make sure the hook on those are facing upwards. You WILL regret taking your favorite lures after losing them. OR: use cut bait such as squid or your cheapest grocery store bought RAW shrimp with a hi/lo rig using a torpedo sinker at the bottom.
That's my dad, Rod, in the video. He passed away last month. Just wanted to say thank you so much for making his day. He loved fishing and was so excited to share with us that he was featured in your video. I watch it often and just love seeing my dad living his best life. THANK YOU.
I'm at a loss for words. We sure had a lot of fun that day. I was flattered he recognized me and it was a pleasure to meet him. I really appreciate you reaching out and letting me know. I originally put other people in my videos so they can show off their catches and just a few years later it has turned into something much more meaningful. It's an honor to provide any comfort in this time for you
Wait, WHAT?!?! You ain't been on the boats?!?! THESE DAYS?!?!?! OH DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! There be Bluefin Tuna out dere, there be Yellowtail out dere, there be EVERYTHING out dere!! YOU GOTTA GO!! Heck, you already got yo license for the break wall!
I’ve seen 13’ Whalers do this trip….if one plans, knows the weather pattern for the day, works within the weather pattern and fuel limitations, I don’t see why any smart boater can’t do a morning run for a good breakfast and some relax, then hit it back at noon.
@@WETTHATLINE I have not always been “smart” - it’s the school of hard knocks and stupidity that got me a little smarter. Rewind to 1980 at 17 years old and we rented a 17’ aluminum boat with small outboard (don’t remember hp) on Lake Erie. Pulled out of west side of Cleveland and got far enough that we could not see land in any direction - I can’t state how far out we were, it would be pure conjecture - but I can tell you this, we had some kind of weather kick in and it was one of those roller coaster sessions where, when you are down, you are surrounded by walls of water. There were 3 of us - one full of bravado, one nervous captain and me, scared shitless! I leaned a very hard won lesson that day - know your weather, track your weather and have a fucking vhf marine radio on board….of course we made it and I won’t even claim lives were threatened but egos were bruised….it was scary 🤣🤣🤣
That's awesome man! I have to double-check my calendar but I think I might be in vegas. Would you be able to cover the ticket? I have to ask. Fishing takes all of my money lol
@@WETTHATLINE I can’t cover the entire ticket but will be more than happy to give you a discount. Price includes meals too. It’s $550 but I can give it to you for $300
@@WETTHATLINE okay I see the confusion because usually a sheepshead is a black and white fish from Florida but what you caught in this video was a Californian sheepshead which made me confused. Next time just specify the kind because the white and black one is more well known
You fall off a boat mid channel after dark. No one will find you..closest I’ve been to death was on a 30ft Rabalo in a rain storm heading back to Newport Beach, we hit a big swell , I was off my feet holding onto the handrail with one hand. Only by the grace of god I didn’t lose grip.
Bro I feel you on losing that bonita. I caught one on a sibiki rig and as soon as I saw it close to the surface I was going to flip him into the dock and bam the line broke I just saw him swim away calmly and I was like F***k first one ever and I lost it. It was in Newport Beach/Balboa dock
LOL the first time we tried we started taking on water. Luckily we weren't too far out of the harbor when we realized it. Going out there in the morning is super easy coming back we were getting drenched cuz there's no windshield
I’m gonna try this summer on a super clear sky no wave. My boat is bass boat too like your but 19ft long. I watch your video trip to Catalina all I can think is Titanic lol
@@johnnyvo9654 I want to do it also on a 170 Montauk….i won’t lie, I have reservations, but in my opinion, with a proper radio, flare, fuel and leave early and head back by 1pm….it is very doable.
Sorry you ate it bro, you wouldn’t catch me out there that far on the jetty. Maybe when I was younger, lol 😝. I’m 76 now so I have to be be more careful… I grew up in SoCal and fished a lot at Redondo. Loved the bonito and mackerel action! Most people don’t like those two fish because they’re oily and strong in flavor. My Filipina wife and I absolutely love stronger tasting fish so bonito and mackerel are high on our list. Anyway, I enjoyed your video and I hope to see more… Dan Suzuki, Retired USAF and Vietnam Vet (:
I apologize but most of them stripers we We're worse than my trout make did I got at the Colorado River next to the Riverside casino. I guess I should have taken my trout home and not waste my time
This is a fun video but I didn't even watch it all the way you're saying my stripers 10 to 14 in but this was a waste of my time! I get them 30 inches plus when is fun from the ocean I appreciate your video but those are guppies I've seen trout bigger than that maybe a koi fish in my pond maybe enjoy guys
