Great video, really clear. Would also be a great to whip up baits in advance, store in cold box or freezer and just whip on the hooks on the shore. I reckon I could make one of these …. with one small aubergine!
@@mikeattenborough-cox1024 As you can see in the video, it’s just a case of pushing the metal rod in to the sucker and pushing the pin through to hold it in place. Really not sure what the grommet is for, but everything worked really well. Jansen
Nice video Jansen, thank you. I’ve used the Daiwa Sensor spooling device for a number of years and really rate this. What I’m waiting for is a device is that can manage the 1/2 kilo spools, would this Seadra version cope with this size? Ps. Where’s Dean Booker? Missing his fishing videos.
You know that beach better than anyone buddy. And it’s so kind of you to share some knowledge to everyone else. Great video from a top angler and all round pleasant guy. Thanks catch with you soon 😊
Great result Ben , just goes to show it’s sometimes worth taking the opportunity to wet a line even if the conditions aren’t ideal and others are drawing a blank. Can’t wait to get bk to the hallowed ground 👊🏼 Edited …* Always *Sometimes
Because then you might as well use a Pennel rig. The idea is to use a single circle hook that will lip hook fish. Less chance of the rig getting snagged too.
When fishing in snaggy spots i use fixed wire leads with the wires coming out of the nose, and bent into a U shape with no corners. Just as i would use when uptiding from a boat. Dont (it seems) roll in the tide, and wont get caught up in line snags having no corners to trap it. Definitely have been losing less leads and rigs using them.
Hi would you mind spelling the name of knot you are using ? I searched with "grinner" knot and it shows it is the uni knot. your knot looks different to me .... thx
Very practical, useful info, Jansen, thanks. I fish clean - mixed ground but v strong tides and was not convinced the lead was holding enough. Taken on tips here especially the importance of fixing in the wires so they do not flick out. 👍
Great video, just getting back into fishing after a break of 20+ years and suffering a heart attack last year, plenty of time on my hands now that I've also retired. In regard to shock leaders what ratio is best for 15lb mainline, also does unused mainline break down over the years. Thanks for the info 😊😊
Thank you. Shock leader should be 10lb of breaking strain for every ounce cast. For example, if casting a 6oz lead, use 60lb shock leader. Monofilament will deteriorate through use in saltwater, UV also reduces its lifespan. Keep spools of line in a cool dark place away from sunlight.
Hello, we was aware of this but also you cannot choose your catch. We kept this fish near the waters edge and handled with care. Once we took the hook out it was released and swam off strong.
Some great fishing there👍 With the Fireblade GT though, would 6oz leads every now and then be overdoing it with the 13ft, as most of my fishing is over clean to mixed ground but with quite a strong tidal pull?
