That book is called "The American Religion."
Just because you were reasoned out of it doesn't mean you believe it is not true (in the case where you "want to sin"). Just follow the evidence. If you were reasoned out of it you ought to be able to provide evidence and data on what reasoned you out. No one cares if you want to sin, that's the default already but says nothing about the actual truth of the matter.
Whether it's a political or religious group, taregeting children when they're young so they can be molded is a huge red flag revealing a false ideology. If something is true, it will stand on its own, it doesn't need brainwashing to make it stick.
I'm not sold on atheism: its first fatal flaw is that it has nothing to live for after you die. No purpose for your existence! Its second flaw is it has a god called There Is No Deity. Self-contradictory. Third flaw is atheists seem to have panic attacks on deathbed. They're forced to see the emptiness of thinking no god exists, and since atheism says no divine exists, nobody cares about your dignity anymore, nor you. OTOH, Roman Catholic Church has a plethora of men and women who chose death rather than deny Jesus. St. Agnes comes to mind. So, know which school of thought has a stronger faith and messengers of Hope.

Here in Norway we have a subject in school (whick I teach) which does what you talk about at 1 hour into the video. It is called KRLE - for Chritianity, religions, life beliefs and ethics. Nowadays we talk about fasting in various religions due to it being before Easter as well as Ramadan.

God took a "risk" in creating free-willed beings. Free-will is absolutely essential for there to be such a thing as relationship or love, or humanity itself. It also produces, of necessity, the very real possibility of hatred and evil. Surely, you would admit there's plenty evidence of that, even in your own life. In fact do you understand that philosophical materialism actually allows for no Free Will whatsoever. You are just a meat-computer mechanically reacting to your environment according to your hardwiring. So maybe, in fact, God is not your enemy. Children are happy in church til they start actually thinking about Hell or that they cant do anything right or to save themselves from Hell or to get themselves to Heaven. Believing in Jesus is both the only thing that saves you from Hell or gets you into Heaven! I am completely convinced that Christianity has caused most Anxiety, Depression and many Mental, Emotional and in turn Physical problems or trauma!
Most Christians cant argue or debate more than a few minutes before they give up or write more than a word or 2 online.
