Gday Jimmie really enjoy your videos mate and I thought that I would tell you a little story about my helmet was a pretty old agv and I took a Suzuki TL 1000 out for a test ride anyway I gave her a bit of a twist of the wrist and were away she stood up on the back wheel and all of a sudden the headliner blew out of my helmet and fell down like a curtain over my eyes and I can't see nothing but the road under the bike, luckily I managed to pull up and used the keys to put the lining back in place shut the air vents off and went back to the Suzuki dealer, I didn't buy the bike but I did buy a new helmet that day 😊😊😊just thought you might get a laugh out it it's funny now but I wasn't laughing when it happened cheers mate andy
@@andydavey6613 wow mate ha ha the same thing happened to me sort of it had been raining heavily the rain stopped and I opened the visor a truck come passed me on the opposite side of the road and hit a big pot hole full of water well all the water hit me right in the eyes could not see a thing crazy
@@jimminakis7710 lol thanks Jimmie you certainly have so much fun traveling on a bike and I always enjoyed meeting older riders and now I'm 70 and still have the same enjoyment. I ended up buying a gsx1400 back in 2005 and I only just sold it to my brothers mate , still have a cb1100 Honda retro and a 1200 sporter that is registered I'm rebuilding a 75 z900 at the moment should be a good ride 😊👍 take care mate cheers andy
@@jimminakis7710 thanks Jimmie I think that it's a great idea to buy a bike you like 2nd hand as quite often they are low klms and the price is right. I brought my 1200 sportster in 2008 it was 6 years old and under a thousand kilometers on the clock, a few more years and I can retro reg. Thanks for your great videos mate and I really like how you promote bike gear. I was high sided on the Harley running in a new rear tire and I was shot out of the seat and landed on my right knee with my head in line with the front axle both hands were still on the bars and left foot on the back edge of the tank, I bounced back in the air and came down back in the saddle, never got around the bend but I didn't drop it thanks to the leather jeans I was wearing. You can't beet good gear when you're riding. Cheers mate andy, I'm 70 now but still love riding, brought me first bike at 13 and learned a lot riding in the mud 😊👍
Good day jimmi I was in the us navy in 1985 or 87 my ship uss Tuscaloosa LST 1187 we was in Fremantle Australia I went to Perth love your you tube channel I loved Australia best port stop keep up love your bike
What a friggen joke 13kms over they pinched me doing 51 in a 40 zone so 11kms over if those kinds of speeds are saving lives unbelievable there getting a dollar a week outta me being on a disabled pension i was on a CB 125 E Honda commuter by the way
Thanks Jimmie I really enjoy your videos, I live at Nyah west Victoria which is about 200 klms from Mildura on the border of nsw and vic, and if you want to call in for a coffee I'd have the Billy on mate. Cheers thanks again for your great videos
Those 'spiders'/wiring earth busbars are a pain in the ass. Once theyre all cut off and soldered together and then extra wiring earthed properly to a frame earth then prob sorted. That idle tickover can get stuck sometimes at the throttle body end. Just follow the adjuster to the unit on throttle bodies and it can be cleaned out and sorted. 1000 to 1100rpm normal.
I had a gen1 2004..over 100k miles when I sold it and it was still like new. Well serviced ahead of time always . I've got a Gen3 now..I wanted the electronic cruise control and improved electrics. I wish Yamaha brought out a new FJR model....absolutely fantastic bikes.. I'm running Michelin road 6 GT tyres on mine..best tyres I've ever bought .
Sitting here in my warm clothes in my lounge but can feel the water seeping into my gloves, trickling into my boots and freezing my balls. Ahh, the memories.
Thanks Jimmie, it's good to see your videos, and the great reviews you do, I just got heated grips fitted on my Jane Fonda and it's great when the weather gets cold. It's great that you ride in the rain, just have smooth input on the throttle and don't brake too hard 😊 you enjoy your trip to western Australia and hope that I see you on the road somewhere cheers mate andy
I buckled a rim out western Qld in the 80s on a BMW Kseries 100RT very soft marshmallow mags it cost me 90 bucks in Brisbane the year of expo 88 keeping air in the front wheel
We used to go to the MTN in the 60s and 70s my worst memory was when the bikies caused trouble and wanted the front end of my mates early 70s Z900 front end he went to get his spanners so we had to bail out iv been there many times the year they threw the rock on the top of the MTN and dick Johnson's race was over i have many memories of Mt panarama Bathurst back in the day
Last time i rode the hume up that way it was minus 6 at Goulburn. 🥶 Hey what tyres are you running? Ive got michelin road 6s on, have just done 15 000kms but have a qld trip in a week and a half. I dont think the rear will be up for the 3500km round trip though. Its weird coz i got 20 000kms out of the road 5s i had on previously.
@@stevetheaxe mate correct I have the same road 6 on my fjr depending on how much weight your carrying I find that if I am carrying 135 kilos I get 17 000 ks out of the rear and 21 000ks out of the front and yes a got the same out of my road 5 Tryes as well but the road 6 tyres have better grip in the dry and wet I think you should make it no problem it will be right down probably 1 mm left or just under
How does someone go when they don't no anything about fixing motorcycle like you're riding and the only option we have is a bike shop mechanic wouldn't it workout very expensive
You should have a very comfortable seat on a bike like that obviously you probably don't do much push bike riding we ride on leather saddles selle Italia no problem's as long as your seat is measured between your sit bones you don't need any pressure points anywhere else on the bum of the body
Do you have to wear prescription glasses under your helmet i have to and it's practically impossible to see where im going riding in the rain when the visor is wet and so are my glasses it's a massive problem trying to ride in the rain and wet conditions 30 odd years ago i used to wear hard gas permeable contact lenses it was far easier
I lived in Brisbane Queensland for 20 odd years thats practically where Iv done all my riding love FNQ in winter mt tambourine mt glorious mt Nebo the glasshouse mtns Noosa heads the sunshine coast i honestly miss good ole Brisbane weather it's motorcycle heaven up there have you been up into the gulf of Carpentaria Normanton the Bourke and wills HWY it takes you western outback Qld way to much traffic on the GC these days check out Samford Rd out of Brisbane bikes everywhere
What's going to stop it from not doing the 300kms mine is the same bike an 06 FJR and I'm 65 I plan on riding her into the ground IV seen 600 miles on Gen 1 in the state's and still going strong
@@SusanWillan the s4 and s6 wiring was the problem for me It’s runs across the top of the thermostat You need to take the left fairing dash glove box tank off all so the they had to run 2 more earths one to the frame and direct to the battery hope this helps
@@SusanWillan the s4 and 6 were the problem burnout it’s location is on top of the thermal stat left fairing dash fuel tank glove box off hope also they run 2 extra earths his helps
Just watching the video i crossed the Nullarbor plain in 87 they never had those fences i just walked a few hundred metres from the road and could of jumped it was pretty crazy viewing
I will never use Pirelli Angle GT s ever again. My friend on his FJR and me on my FJR we’re crossing the Nullarbor WA east to west and both sets of Pirelli on the front of each FJR delaminated internally. Tiny pin pricks appeared everywhere. I know that the straight roads on the Nullarbor are hard on tires but for two sets to fail like this is unforgivable. We both run tire pressure monitors so we knew what our pressures were. Now running Mich!
Mine is on the exact same mileage 166007kms mine is starting and things are okay as long as I hit the screen button if I don't touch the screen button no headlights blinkers are on but flash horn works i can't get mine looked at until September 2 I'll be wrapped if I can get out of trouble for your price as iv only just replaced the ignition switch 2 Mths ago I'll let the shop no about the S4 and S6 wiring im getting tired of problems also but can't afford another bike especially when on a pension stay safe and upright from ocean grove geelong Vic not far from Torquay
Same things happened to mine as well all my lighting works except the headlights IV only recently had a new ignition switch fitted so will go into the shop tomorrow morning and see what they say I'll keep you posted on this IV been told it happens to the 06 and 07 FJR
When I turn on the ignition and hit the screen switch it rises to maximum height and all systems are go the minute I turn the bike off I'm back to square one like yourself I'll just have to ride it around with the screen up before starting it until September 2 when she goes back to the shop where they fitted my completely worn out barrel and ignition switch good luck getting your bike back to normal I'll keep you posted until after September 2 as there very busy ATM here in ocean grove Geelong VIC love your honest feedback and videos my friend been riding since the 60s and never come across anything like this happening in my life on riding bikes the closest being a blown fuse on an early 80s GS1000G just outside of Townsville FNQ
