I just noticed this now. I have been attending racing at both Connaught and Rideau Carleton, since about 1969 and I have to say, though I liked so so many drivers, that Darrell has been my favorite to watch race over those years. I was at his last racing night at Rideau.
He had a malignant brain tumor. There is an article in Standardbred Canada that is titled HOPE that is about Johns ordeal. Melissa Keith will be calling the races now. 🙏❤️
Brown was the master at stiffing and running dead last 1/9 shots up at Orangeville raceway. He and Dave Wall were also fined countless times for race fixing notably triactor races at Greenwood. My nickname was dirty Douggy Brown he'll brown your underwear.
Today April 16 I am seeing water trucks driving back-and-forth on the track where the horses are warming up it is very dangerous stop that now otherwise I’m gonna complain to the Housing Authority’s you cannot have the water trucks on the track when the horses are warming up I saw it on TV stop it now
The sport (if we can even call it that) is barbaric. Millennials do not want to see a pacer or trotter getting his or her ass handed to them with an 1/8 of a mile to pace…… Good Riddens to the game. When the Meadowlands closes in 2023 we will see what is left
Shadow Margeaux shouldn’t have paid that much. He was a regular Woodbine pacer for several years before racing at Rideau Carleton. 10 year old still races great.
Tell the truth on st.louis he's aggressive alright he wound up in prison he was so aggressive that he trained his own horse to the point it died and he tried to hide it by digging a hole and burning the horse and if that don't change you nothing will he was under stick probation and is lucky to ever race again. I don't think he should ever race again
I was a small town kid, I went to Greenwood and was lucky enough to land a job with Joe Stutzman. First horse I paddocked, Dream Omaha was a winner, Doug Brown, whom I idolized was the driver. On our way back to the paddock after the picture we chatted a bit and he handed me the lines and made sure I had my pail and coolers and everything before he was on his way to the paddock. Best driver ever but I was more impressed with his kind demeanor, a real classy man.
