John Wetton - Akustika Live In Amerika (KEY C であのイントロを弾くのは無理があります。)
I'm in California in the United States and was very intrigued to find this treatment of ELP's Atropos. I needed to translate the performer's explanation into English and that was a great treat too. If I understood it correctly, it's about making the ostinato seem effortless and then other things will fall into place too. It's quite a philosophy to live by and perform by. I really enjoyed this!
Mr. Questor Elf Thank you very much comment for Atropos.. Please forgive me for taking so long to answer your comment. I am very weak in English, so summary of Japanese comments. Atropos ostinato of left hand is 7/8, right hand melody is 8/8. 7/8 ≠ 8/8 Keith Emerson recorded ostinato first (with drums), next he recorded right hand, I guess. So no one play Atropos ever! I am crazy! Ostinato means stubborn. The best-known ostinato-based piece may be Ravel's Boléro & Stravinsky’S The rite of spring. boogie-woogie base line is also an ostinato. → en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostinato A whole tone scale is a scale in which each note is separated from its neighbors by the interval of a whole step. 6 notes in octave The same distance apart, no half tone. Not melodic. We can’t judge major or minor tune. Start of atonality, 20th century classical music. First user of whole tone scale was classical music composer, Claude Debussy 1862-1918 → en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whole_tone_scale Thank you.
