That's good, but what is the emergency plan for the incarcerated should something happen on the inside? What's the plan for transporting 1-2K people should an emergency like that arise? Do you have the capacity to transport people to safety? Keep in mind, we do have people in prison who are wrongfully convicted as well as harshly convicted.

Prison should be about rehabilitation not only punishment more then 80% of prisoners have a release date and having many them learning skills like these make the transition into society so much smoother hope these guys turned their life’s around and made something of their time being away
That program is a waste of time. Inmates need to rehab themselves because most of them are repeat offenders. I served time in a female maximum prison in SC. I was released in 2001 and I have not returned to prison at all.
I did 3 years in Virginia and Maryland DOC. I was a heroin addict and thief for 14 years. Im now 8 years sober, and living in Florida. im 37 years old, and have my life back. I corrected myself while incarcerated, learned how to draw very well, took classes, got in great shape, and read literally hundreds of books. It changed my life for the better. The Lord Jesus disciplines those He Loves me.
Amen. Awesome Program!! Keep it coming and making a difference. We are all here for a reason a purpose. We all deserve a second chance. But when you get a second , third, etc. chance at breathing, living again. When the Good Lord gives you breath again you realize you matter and what's important. When will vadoc parole board give men who absolutely deserve it, second chances? These Motivational talks are for just inmates that have an out date. The parole board in Virginia is ridiculous. Give me a video and answers on what they are actually doing....!!!!
This is so untrue. Re-Entry is for those who are being released back into the community within a year. The programs I studied in this state's re-entry program does not offer these classes or counseling to black inmates. God is Real. Stop Lying to the public. You will reap what you sow.
Awesome!! If only the Parole Board would stop playing political Game of Thrones with peoples lives and release them! I understand many arent ready.....but there ARE MANY who ARE READY to be released. This Parole Board is the problem!

We need more people like you who want to step up and share and oh what a difference it will and it can make. I to am an ex offender. Struggles are there , but it's do able. Believe in yourself. Prisons like this don’t help people at all.. it makes them so much more dangerous.. lock a man up in solitary for 8-10-12 years than put that man in the free world…. Basically saying we don’t care about the public at all
It's not the VADOC we have an issue with......it's the Parole Board and those who feel keeping people in prison "until they feel a person deserves freedom" that we have an issue with.
Prison is depressing. Any kind of joy men & women find is ultimately taken away. Food, visits, letters, cards, etc. If prison focused on rehabilitation as soon as a person entered prison, we wouldn't see such high drug/alcohol abuse. The food is not healthy and keeping lights on all night shuts off melatonin production! Little to no sunlight affects their health. Prison doesn't have to be a luxury vacation, but there should be a plan to help people change for the better. It should be mandatory that they get their GED within the first 3 years of incarceration! No one should leave VADOC without that certificate. If I wwre running the joint, each facility would grow and harvest the majority of their food and there would be no stimulants allowed (caffeine), because it increases anxiety. Also......whoever brings in drugs would be banned forever from having a contact visit. Men need to be physical.....they are designed to work - ask God. If you need help building a restorative plan, let me know. Gerson Therapy will detox a person off the hardest street drug in 72 hours.....but you have to replace the toxins with nutrients and you can't do that if you're feeding them death foods.
The staff at Red Onion are really trying with the step down program.Gone are 23 hour no hope lock up I know some of the inmates are really dangerous but give the prisoners hope they will cooperate better.
