Yessss love your sweater it's sooo cute friend!!! Omg and I appreciate your round up and also you telling us about books and such. I truly enjoy hearing about different books and discovering them. So happy. And happy Sunday girly 😁 and right now it's stormy season down in Georgia so honey it's definitely the perfect season and weather to read.
Thank you so much! I got the sweater from Etsy. Stormy, cloudy weather is the best for coziness and reading! It is so hot here in Maryland. I'm ready for fall...
This is a great reminder that u can start new projects and new habits waayyy later than new years and its resolutions. You can start whenever you want!!! great video Ruby <33
Thanks for watching! I've never been a new year's resolution girl, but I admire people that set goals and execute them. I wish I were more disciplined. Small steps!
You're probably annoyed by New Adult characters ... because they're young. I try not to complain as much about younger characters because I feel like part of that immaturity is realistic.
Yeah maybe. I try to give grace on my ratings when I rate YA because I know I'm not the target audience. I still read it though because it can be fun and light.
I literally filmed this more than a month ago, but I still wanted to share it with you. The biggest surprise answer would probably be revised to Skyward by Brandon Sanderson.
regarding Shadow and Bone- I really enjoyed the first book but I feel the series just more dragged on, characters became more annoying, I did not like the next two book.
Love this!! Bunny was so hyped and so bad lol There is a line in the book where the students are judging each other's writing that was exactly how I felt about this book: "...(regarding your writing) I feel like I just was not smart enough to understand it, but really it's just bad." Not an exact quote, but as soon as I read that I line I laughed ... do think she knew how bad it was 😂
I know it’s popular, but I find I’m more of a fantasy girl, or at the very least magical realism. I also didn’t like how it started with all the heavy topics. I tend to stay away from stuff like that. I’m happy to hear you liked it though. Maybe I would’ve too if I stuck with it.
I have to say that you will not like Shadow and Bone trilogy. Your lover boy is a villain, and it's 100% his fault why Alina chooses to "sacrifice" what she does. One hundred percent. He doesn't love her, he just wants to use her. Mal loves her and she loves him, and they are going to live happily ever after, unless Darkling somehow manages to crap it all up. I hate him, I hate his manipulation, I hate his selfishness, I hate how he uses Alina...
Yeah I know how it ends. I know the Darkling isn’t good. I just like him in the show because he’s played by Ben Barnes. I’ll still give the books a shot because I want to see how the story plays out. I’m not very picky with fantasy books, especially when they’re YA. That’s why I still gave the first one three stars even though I’m not the target audience. Which one was your favorite of the three?
These challenges are my new favorite videos on booktube…I love Beth’s series as well. I don’t like romance but you made the Christina Lauren book sound interesting! It’s not what I usually read but I might give it a try! Really enjoyed this video, can’t wait to see more
I really want to try reading books I’m not comfortable with or have been putting off. I think this series will be really fun because I have a good assortment of books. It helps that I did the different colors for different genres. Thanks for watching!
I watched this video last night and immediately picked up Bunny so I could finally read it, and I actually loved it SO MUCH. It reads like an A24 movie! BUT I also absolutely, 100% see why people might hate this book. 😂 It's definitely weird as hell and polarizing and I can also see how some parts of it (the satire, especially) might be lost on someone.
I think that was my favorite part of finally reading it. It was so unique, and honestly, I was harsh with my rating because I’m still thinking about it… to make fun of it.. but still. I hope I choose more polarizing books for this series because the discussions are more fun.
Ooh! A favorite audiobook that made me buy the physical book for a reread, The Final Revival of Opal and Nev. There is a famous photo of a beautiful black woman, Opal, being carried out of a riot on a white British guy’s back, Nev. This book is the story of how the band, the riot, and the photo happened as well as the fall out from that.
Hey i have been a lurker for a while but i would love for you to read my dark Vanessa . its my favorite . my fav this quarter has been evidence of the affair .short book on kindle unlimited so good.
Hey I'm a new subscriber because youtube randomly recommended one of your videos! I'm so happy to find a Latina on booktube! I like angst in my books so I don't know if you'll like any of my favorites but here they are: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, Land of the Beautiful Dead by R. Lee Smith, The Tyrant Alpha's Rejected Mate by Cate C. Wells. I also like slow burn romances so I also like Kulti by Mariana Zapata and A Taste of Iron and Gold by Alexandra Rowland. And if you want to give danmei (Chinese BL) a try, I suggest starting with the Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, it's hilarious. For my year so far, I think my favorite romantasy is The Serpent and the Wings of Night. Can't wait to see more of your videos!
Hi! Welcome! I have read The Serpent & the Wings of Night Duology and novela too. I really liked them except the Ashes & the Star-Cursed King wasn’t my fave. I don’t mind angst, but I don’t like sad things. I will for sure look up the synopses of the books you listed though. Maybe I’ll love something. I have really wanted to read Mariana Zapata because people seem to love her writing.
I finished both Phoenix Unbound (2⭐️) and The Night Ends With Fire (5⭐️). Wow.. I didn’t expect to love the latter. If you love Mulan as much as I do, I think you’ll enjoy it too.
It’s just so satisfying watching someone read multiple books in a row and unhaul half of them. lol. At least to me it is. Thanks so much for watching! I was shocked by Skyward because I really never hear people talk much about it. It’s always the Cosmere.
Hello from San Antonio, sister Texan! 👋 I did not enjoy Bunny either, but I did enjoy your video! I love your rules for purging books. I look forward to seeing more of your content.
Loved The Night Ends With Fire! I haven't seen many people talk about it, which is a shame. Could have done with more marketing, I think. I'm in the minority...I adore the Shadow & Bone trilogy and the romance between Mal and Alina 😅. So sad the show got cancelled!
I loved The Night Ends With Fire. I finished it last night and gave it 5 stars. They sent out arcs, but I haven’t seen anyone talk about it either 🙁. I am hoping that I like the Shadow and Bone trilogy too. People can be so mean and talk badly about books just because that’s what everyone is doing. However, I really just don’t like Mal right now. I have 2 books to go though. Maybe that will change
Hi, I just found your channel! New sub. I love Beth’s channel too. I’m also working thru my TBR making myself reaching for books I usually wouldn’t. Also, do you have or did you have a planner shop before? Your name sounds familiar to me from my planner days lol
Hi! Welcome! Yes, it’s me. I used to have a planner sticker shop, RubyTrev. I stopped planning decoratively, so I stopped filming plan with mes and running the shop. I missed filming and talking to everyone, so I started a book tube channel 😊
I love the Shadow & Bone trilogy just as much as the Six of Crows duology. Mal is just a character in the trilogy that I very much dislike. He was slightly better in the show, but I was still NOT a fan.
