I worked at a movie theatre when this picture came out. Saw it numerous times and remember this scene well in the theatrical release. Same guy who made some of the James Bond titles (Spy Who Loved Me, etc) was responsible. There may, however, have been a slightly altered music cue.
This is from the finale “Varsity Drag” from the MGM film Good News (1947). Dance direction by Charles Walters. With clip inserts of Jean Hagen from Singin’ in the Rain from MGM (1952).
I live in the Netherlands and this week on television they re-run ER. Today episode 3 with Rosemary Clooney guest starring as a patient with dementia. She sings the first part of the song. I didn’t know the song, but it hit me.
The very great Rosalind Russell. It boggles my mind that I must have just been twelve or so when I saw Auntie Mame as a film (1958). I'm not sure I got the drift of the film, but I remember just how much I laughed, doubled over, at scenes where Russell appears. Robert, uk.

One of Hollywood's most amazing and funniest actresses. She was heavily into wonderful charities and helped a great many people. She was fabulous in such movies as Auntie Mame, His Girl Friday, The Women, Gypsy, The Trouble with Angels, Mrs. Pollifax Spy, Crooked Hearts and so many more. She was nominated 4 times for an Oscar but sadly never won and should have. Just as sadly she passed away at 69 from breast cancer in 1976. She was very loved by all.
The background music so touching and sweet. It’s so beautiful it makes my heart ache for this family and nostalgic for this time. It’s really sad to see this young family where three out of the four died so young.
I thoroughly loved this Blog of pictures in Jackie’s time. It was like she went through her life as Three Women. First as Jack’s wife, than as Onassis’s wife, than with her final Partner and she was quite Happy. She had gone through soooo much pain and Grief . First losing Jack so horribly. Than the Pain Of how Onassis had treated her through the ugliest of Christina, and Onassis losing his son so terribly. Onassis grew to hate her, I believe toward the end. Than she found her true love in Maurice Stapelsman. Most important her life was her Children and Grand children. Was she called Grandma? I hope she did not suffer too long with her Cancer!!!!!!! When did Maurice die and where is her buried? Jackie did have such an Elegant Life with all the Traveling, fine dining, balls, dinner parties, and gowns, seeing all the Different Countries. JACKIE WAS OUR PRINCESS, I dearly loved her and hearing all about her. I would love to hear more on Caroline and her Family.
