@@ericanderson7059 Hi, Eric. Richard Doyle was incredibly inventive, creative, and talented. His personality was huge. Could have been a comic. He kept me in stitches. I spent an afternoon with him and he was charming, witty, and self-effacing. His artwork was unbelievable. At the time, he was showing signs of ill health. Some loss of eyesight. It was very sad. After the story aired on PM Magazine, I lost touch with him. I regret staying in connect. He was amazing.

If my research should begin to take shape I hope can reach out and thank you in advance . With regard to Mr .Doyle I met him only once and asked him if he would do a portrait to which he responded " Sure as soon as I sober up " I laugh to this day ! Thank you again .
One of the best things about visiting my brother in Des Moines was I got to watch Floppy. Later when I went to college every afternoon it was Floppy time in the dorm in the 1970s.
I'm looking for a show my son went on in the summer right before he went off the air. Tomorrow is my son's 42nd birthday tomorrow and he is dying from Brain tumors I want him to remember better times. I could use any help it getting to see or go about finding before he passes away . I've also seen the 2-hour Knight Rider pilot movie Night of the Phoenix; A Smurfs Christmas; and The Kid with the 200 IQ with Diff'rent Strokes' Gary Coleman, Benson's Robert Guillaume, and Gimme A Break!'s Kari Michaelsen. All which aired on NBC that season.
Floppy is 5 years, TO THE DAY, older than I am! He was 'born' 6/9/57 and I was born 6/9/62! (which is TODAY, 2019 if fact! I'll never forget seeing Floppy at my grade school the last day of school in 1970. And of course many times over the years at the Iowa State Fair! RIP Duane (and Floppy) been many, many years now. And ironically, as I close this comment, it is 1:06PM. The moment I 'officially' turn 57. lol

Once i was asked to prove I was really an Iowa girl. My reply being “I grew up on Floppy!” Was more than enough to convince the person asking. It makes me a little sad that my kids didn’t.

There seems to be some confusion as to when the Mississippi was adopted as the dividing line, but it appears the line between K and W was farther west until around the mid 1920s. WMT, WOI, WHO, WOC and WOW all started as AM stations in that decade. Even well after that, the FCC still allowed the occasional exception, which is why Omaha still has a WOWT-TV even after being forced to rename itself upon splitting from WOW radio (based on the rules at the time).

Oh Tim, I am sitting here in tears after watching this very special video of the Hurst family reunion! I am overcome by the pictures of family, many of them I hadn't see since a small child and many that I had never met. Wow, this was an emotional weekend for me and now it's all in video for me to keep, and to share with my children/grandchildren and cherish forever! Thank you to Mindy and Lisa for all their hard work and to you Tim for putting these special memories on you tube! We truly have a wonderful family! And, to think if everyone would have been able to make it how big that family picture would have been! Love, Sue

I am watching this on Father's Day--quite an emotional one for me since it is the first one without my dad, and he was still living when we were in the planning stages of the reunion. He would've LOVED this (as would've all the siblings) and I was SO looking forward to his sharing, as Aunt Marty did. But it was not in God's plans. What a wonderful day this was! There truly is nothing like family, and it was so fun to see the pictures of the individual families now, and be reminded of the individual pictures of the families from that reunion years ago! It truly is remarkable what closeness you feel to each other! I think that the number of people who were there, as well as the effort involved in attending, is a testament to the love and loyalty that is involved with our family. I am humbled and overwhelmed with thankfulness to be a part of it. This event will go down in my book as a highlight moment in my life. Love you all, Mindy
