I emptied a cupboard full of Rakija over six months which had been largely untouched for years when I was with my girlfriend in Bijeljina. Good stuff is an understatement and the infused variety is divine. We're five months in Blighty and I feel like I'm dying of thirst! 😂
There is a creature that still is alive to this day and its so connected with Serbs that even Serbs say they decended from it, and that creature is wolf Durning medieval times, wolves would often attack livestock so humans started to massacre the wolves with hunting, traps and poisons, they were described as devils and evil creatures in many stories, fairytales and legends, even nazi german used the wolves to show they will take whole europe. But serbs had different mytology. Wolves temper often connects Serbs with this animal For every national, they had their own connected animal in religion, for Serbs its belived to be wolves, so this animal is taken for a mythical relative and representative of the Serbian people. In one time it was forbiden to kill the wolf as it sometimes said "if you kill a wolf, you killed a serb". Peasant could defend his livestock from him, but not to kill it, and so wolves explode in population that authorities gave villagers poison and kill them, however everybody refused to do that, since wolves temper is what is connection Serbs with him Famous serbian proverb "wolf changes his fur but never his character" proof that his moral character remains the same They couldnt tame the wolves to be obidient and loyal like their far cousins dogs, they were smart. A Strong feeling of respect and pride is connected to that freedom, without comparison among animals, like with most people. Ethics is the same as intelligence. The wolf doesn't make a compromise when he sees that his ethics or nature are being betrayed. Many rituals are dedicated to the wolf in our tradition and culture. The wolves were often presented by wolfmen, they would gather usually around Christmas in villages. They carried the skin of a wolf stuffed with straw, some even wore it as a cape. They went from one household to another, they would sing songs and gather gifts. This custom is preserved to this day in some parts of East Serbia. Bone, tooth or skin of the dead wolf was taken as a lucky charm and it was carried as protection from impure or dark forces
Now that the SCP Foundation has taken Baba Yaga prisoner, they should try going after this Baba Marta. This could greatly improve early spring weather in the Balkans.
This kind of creepy crap happened during Prohibition in America all the time, but tended to get away with it because since the entire enterprise was illegal and dependent on “rotgut” for all their lower class clientele who couldn’t afford the professional stuff smuggled in At great expense from other countries, police typically couldn’t get anyone involved to talk. If someone died AT the speakeasy, he’s often end up in a shallow grave in the middle of nowhere. Too many deaths being bad for business, however, could lead to such a distillery as this Zozo getting his place burned down while he was fitted with cement shoes, so there was SOME “quality control”, so to speak.
I have to coI have to correct. Dragons and aždajas are different. In appearance yes they are similar but in roles no. Aždajas are evil, menvihale dragons are good tho they like human women. It is important to note, becuse dragons in Serbian mixology aren't evil to yes they look like aždajas.
Love your channel Serb brother. I'm an Englishman living in Russia. However I detest Americans and what they did and are possibly still doing to your wonderful Orthodox country.
Bojan seems to have become more civilised. I'm an Englishman living in Russia. Serbs are supposed to be our allies but I think they are still lapdog to evil Yanks. Hope I'm wrong.Do not accept donations from Americans. Once scum always scum.
This is possibly going to be one of the issues i face when i move to Serbia to be with my Mrs. I was raised as Yugoslav and still say I am Yugoslav and Yugoslav i will always be.....at least by definition, meaning, southern Slav. Dad was from Croatia, mum was from Bosnia, married a Serb and sound Slovenian....so Yugoslav i am, and always will be. This is not to offend yet was how i was raised and hell if anyone is going to take that away from me. I was born in Australia where i still live now and never felt like this was home yet admittedly i do feel at home in Serbia yet to me it is still part of Yugoslavia. I dont give a darn whatever anyone else says or thinks about me regarding that.
I always had the idea of a video game set in medieval Europe, where you play as a Muslim adventurer who goes around the continent and essentially slays beasts of traditional folklore.
