Thank you for all that information. I must get back to what I thought was a maze and check it out. The Irish for Clear in this case was Fionn, hence FhionnUisce which sounds similar to Phoenix. As usual the anglicised names take away the poetic meanings of place names. 😢

Fascinating video. Makes me wish I could dive down to it and scrape away some of that plant growth to get a better look at how the stones are stacked, etc. And clean off the top of the abutment to try to determine if there are bridge footings there and whether they were stone or wood. How deep is the river at that point? I’m sure it’s cold is on the pointy part of the abutment points in the wrong direction to the streamflow. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Does anybody have access to the names of people buried here? I have been told my great great father is buried here, I visited last year but most of the gravestones are damaged and unreadable, I recorded footage very similar to this it was wonderful to find yours, thank you

Hi ItsMyIreland! First of all you make amazing videos, keep it up! My name is Camila and I'm from the Chilean-Argentinian news agency LANA. We are doing a report about the Government of Ireland recognizing Palestine as a State, and we want to ask you if we can use a few seconds of your video (with the correct credit/source of ItsMyIreland as appropriate, and a link to your channel). Thanks in advance and please keep up the amazing videos!! Big hugs!

Hello from Australia, I’d like to say thank you so much for making a video on the castle and showing everyone beauty and sharing some of its history, John Fitzgerald is one of my ancestors, unfortunately at this time I’m unable to travel there and see the castle for myself but this video has given me a glimpse at its beauty. Thank you so much, one day I hope to travel to Ireland and visit Maynooth

I have one of the dorade vents off this, found it magnet fishing last year where the ship use to be docked, had it sand blasted and powder coated in off white and it sits in my sitting room as a fascinating part of history.

The Liffey Through The Old "Gallagher Estate" Is Interesting. We Entered, '83 or '84, out past Sallin's, a long ride on a bike with a buckled wheel. Gallagher's "Security" caught us one time......2 fella's and the 3rd, the boss was a 30 yr old American Gal. Interesting as, we got to meet Mr Gallagher the Richest Man In Ireland and.......tell him about the River, what lived in it, its health and about the cast iron rotunda by the shore and the wee bridge that crossed the river, a shambles in '85!!!!!!!.

Plenty of tasty brown trout especially manor Kilbride down to Poulaphuca. And crayfish in the banks. I was fishing the lisheen down towards manor k when i met two lovely french mademoiselle, who asked for line, bait (un peche?, pour le?) And they pulled wool from their jumper's, teased the wool out and wrapped the trout head in it, tying the head with monofil through the jaw, cast it and were almost immediately pulling in freshwater crayfish. Ahhh those girl's from France!. ♥️🇨🇵☘️♥️🇮🇪♥️

fair play for searching for that, I'm from up the road in clonsilla and read about the same story in the folklore collection, be interesting to see if its connected with the other prehistoric and medieval sites between lucan and castleknock along the liffey

Thank you very much. I spent some time a few years ago looking into things like this. Few videos I dibe still posted on my channel I think. I don't recall as much aa I one did, but there was indeed alot different time scale history between Castlerock, battles , prehistory sites. Mills but water and wind. You probably know there was a bronze age burial site in Millennium Park, near were the dog run is, also one in golf couse in castleknock golf club. Haven't been myself last few years and have lost the knowledge, but if you go looking you'll find it
