Young people in Calcutta are eager to build something new and #MakeCalcuttaRelevantAgain helps them do that. We provide sponsorships to upcoming creators and help them showcase their work with top-notch mentors and industry experts who help them take their creations to the next level. Our aim is to bring back Calcutta's Glory and not only bring it back but take it to the next level through constant disruption and innovation. We want to make Calcutta even more relevant, and change its perception of a sleepy city that was the cultural capital to what it actually is; the bustling place full of change-makers shaking up the status quo.
The hosts attitude and mannerisms reflected his 🏳️🌈👩❤️💋👩👬LGBT connections. However regaining relevance in the midst of stiff competition will be next to impossible.
calcutta will struggle to be relevant in anything other than food and the first 5 mins of your podcast just proved it.. i love calcutta food nontheless..
It’s always so interesting listening to your stories and that too this on Calcutta and Park Street!! Loved it.. let’s hope our city grows and develop more…
The Park Stret initiative by Monica stands testament to the thousands possibilities Calcutta has towards Urban regeneration. Everything about the build environment is like a theatrical set that envelopes us - both for the people dwelling within and visitors/tourists. Urban elements influences the way we think with roads that make us bend into a turn, to buildings that make us look at a certain direction. This is exactly how downtown Calcutta emerged till perhaps the time when the power center shifted to Delhi in the early 1900s. Notwithstanding what opinions the masses have about the British rule but end of the day, one needs to appreciate how colonisation shaped the city. Those days it had zoning, urban plantations, green verges, schematic plans, enclaves and even road hierarchy. Cities like these should pick thread from that era when the basic city plan was conceived and decongest and isolate downtown areas into walkable spaces sans vehicles. What started with enclaved developments like Barrackpore opens up to inclusive spaces and that is only possible by removing perimetric boundaries around them. Strict laws that isolate entire streets and allow for the gentrification that we witness across the world right from Downtown Chicago to London’s Liverpool Street. Beyond that, it will either a war or natural calamity that can trigger the reset button on Kolkata’s Urban Setting.
A True Kolkata spirit i Could feel in this podcast. Monica didi , you not only live there but you sincerely feel that city from the heart. I hope your city grows more beautiful and cherished by all.
No offence, Syndicate members in podcast too. Kolkata definitely doesn't have enough bandwidth to be an open market. People are more interested in politics and argument more than anything else. Hence with high population few businesses do come up, but they are mostly inside the syndicate.
Mother Teresa is the biggest obstacle to Calcutta's progress. She and her propagandists have created a totally dire and disgusting image of the city. The world believes that Calcutta is one big sewer infested by lepers
Calcutta is known as the world's most dire and disgusting place thanks to Mother Teresa. Unless the city is rescued from the Teresa cult she has no future
It is a great thought to make Calcutta relevant again but I fear it will be lost on most Bengalis who have never lived out of Bengal. Our problem is much more complicated and malignant than we think it is.
Good Podcast, Quality Contents but can I say you something guys? ।
What the F is everyone's problem!!!!! Keo new akta jinis ke keno accept korte parchenaa!!?? Ar erm to noy je podcast hisebe this is a faliure!! Then where's the problem!? We want such more podcasts like this❤
Good to see that you are ending this.. I mean it was meant to be. Anything which is done expecting "certain outcomes " must be dissolved quickly. And I will not talk much about that the Name is "calcutta" and not speaking bengali or whatever bcoz i realised that you yourselves are not bangalis... So no expectations whatsoever.. hope you to not see you again and if someday you restart this, do this without pretense.. and with humility
Make Kolkata relevant again by changing the toxic work culture. Just apparent discussion on things is not going to change anything, especially in the media scene.
