I think there is more to the brazilian decline. I think that for so much time european national teams in general were lacking in talented players, while Brasil always was this talent industry on football. There was a talent abyss between the brazilian national team and most of other teams. This abyss was shortened from some decades to now and the Brasil national team cannot relay on just individual talent anymore. The problem is that most of the information on tactics and team management is in europe, where the best couches are. So Brasil and most south-american national teams are late to the party in that regard. Is still common between brazilian managers to be mostly just group managers. They just prepare a defensive tactic and the rest is with the talent of the players. And if you are a new couch with new ideas it will be really hard to convince the players. Because players are still treated like gods, due to this culture of art football and the culture of football as a way to socially ascend. Very early they gain lots of money that they couldn't even imagine and are sorrounded by yes men interested in their gains. This does a lot to a young man and if you don't have a well structured family, which lots of people in Brasil don't have, you tend to lose your mind. This is also a reason why they act, generally, alienated from their people, which draws fans apart from them.
As a brazilian, I believe this new generation of players has a lot to contribute but they’re still evolving. It’s a similar issue with England’s national team, these are the most valuable players in the world in market value but they are finding it difficult to perform at the same level to the national team compared to their clubs. Brazil’s national team have recently changed of coach and this is just his initial work, very talented coach and I’ve seen a lot of improvements, but there’s also a lot to improve. The other national teams have significantly improved, so Brazil shouldn’t be like unbeatable, but will get a better performance in a near future.
I feel like you could have touched a bit more on the subject of sports in Yugoslavia and what came after that, but the video is pretty solid for outsiders looking in.
The truth is Brazil dominance was due to them being biggest Black country allowed to play in world cups. They had a majority African heritage team, which gave them a massive skills and athleticism advantage in 1960s and 1970s where much of the success against non-diverse European countries. African countries were allowed to play in the World Cup in 1978. Now Europe has become more so diverse, Brazil have lost their diversity advantage and you find more Brazilian type players in European teams than Brazil like Mbappe and Bellingham and Musiala.
As an Edmontonian, I have to say, we had the momentum and energy during the finals and those were the talks, but now we feel dissapointed and cant believe the results
@@froggywam I can only think of it as rigged. We could've brought back the cup but rn, we can't do anything but wonder if our next games will be rigged to satisfy the other teams
These videos suffer a bit from being tailored to an American audience. So much common knowledge needs to be explained that there's not much time left for anything resembling depth.
I honestly don't think that most players playing in European leagues makes any difference. Many great players of the past spent more than a decade playing in top leagues and there was no lost of connection whatsoever. We simply don't make that many good players anymore. From 1994 until the 2010s Brazil would only ever lose if players didn't take things seriously. It was widely known that only their own egos could get in the way of winning against any other national team. In fact, the very first time I saw Brazil losing while actually doing their best was against that formidable Belgium team in the 2018 World Cup. These days, I could name at least a dozen better national teams out there. We have no more than two or three top shelf players and that's it. I won't be at all surprised if Brazil gets knocked out of Copa America in the group stage. --- But you're right, this trend of players supporting the far right played a serious role in making fans drift away. I myself stopped rooting for my country altogether from 2018 and today I'd rather watch and root for Uruguay and Argentina. In 2022 I was actually happy that Croatia won. The same phenomenon occurred with the men's national volleyball team, which has become packed with very active far right militants.
@@stolenshortsword Wait, is Caribbean not considered as being part of North America? West Indies consist of Caribbean countries generally. If Caribbean is a part of North America, then I don't understand how my comment was incorrect...
Panthers gonna blame the 8-1 loss on jet lag. Oh btw don't @ me. Out of these American sports leagues I only watched the NBA season seriously. Idc too much about the other ones, just seeing a game or 2
Rugby is just a different beast. Glasgow flew 9500km last week for the URC final. The American raptors in super rugby Americas have that for most of their away games
@@Magdalena8008s Mexico vs Canada does happen in football and that is a longer distance and a bigger time difference. The amount of time given to recover from 'jetlag' is usually 1 day...
@@bihaniparth1995 if you're talking about international matches, then that's a different beast because this is a league championship which is basically akin to a regional. Like yeah international soccer matches will pair teams from across the globe but you don't see that in premier league games.
@@joeym5243 Yes, but from my point of view, the video mentions that the victory is more impressive because of the distance travelled and 3 day break for jetlag, which seems overly exaggerated when we have teams do this already with even lower breaks for jetlag...
As a brazilian, I completely agree with everything that was said in this video. I don't watch many games anymore, but when I watch it, it's crystal clear how "european" our futebol has become. It's not that fun anymore. It is more like strategic chess than a creativity and art sport which we're known for and good at. Of course, that are some sparks of creativity like it was said, but it's rare. As a curiosity (and it was mentioned in the video), when we play futebol with our friends and not in a official terms, we're focused on having a good time and fun. Sometimes, a good dribble is more important and more valued than the goal itself. It's nice to make goals, but the play that got that result is what makes us laugh, enjoy, and vibrate. It's where the energy is. Ps: I'm not saying that european football is boring, they are really good. But when it's "translated" to our sytle, it didn't work well.
The problem of calling jornalists to interview is that they have personal hate for right wing movements and players, for example, if you ask them "what do you think of neymar?", they will respond with hate and disgust, if you ask a normal person, they will respond that he is the last really good player we created. The ending is honestly trash to bring up politics, mainly for not explaining anything about it. Most of people in Brazil hate corruption, and that was only when present Lula was in power, today we know how much money from the government was involved in CBF, and what they did to call certain people to the seleção.
Who cares if you appoint some bs investigator after the fact? The damage is already done. These Chinese swimmers cheated their way to victory and the overall governing body that's supposed to ensure this doesn't happen looked the other way. Every Chinese competitor has to be looked at with a jaundiced eye. What a shock. The swimmers that were caught with TMZ in their system just happened to set world records in sports that they never do so. But don't worry, folks. It's all legit. Pay no attention to the man hiding behind the curtain!
Brazil has been the favorite to win any tournament as far as I can remember, BUT they've also been a horrible team for a really long time now. The team wasn't the same after Ronaldo stopped playing
As a Brazilian I personally don't think that is exist a possibility to win another World Cup, because is not just a identification clash, ours clubs are struggling so much, that sometimes I think the football will collapse here. And if you think further, some spots that is full of art, improvisation and 'jeito moleque' like skate, surf and so on is where Brazil is stand out now
