I always went out with my local HK colleagues after work for drinks and even partying when I used to work in Finance there. (I'm from the US). If anything, they were even more party animals than my Western colleagues. Not sure what that lady is talking about. 🤣
IT industry sucks there, I was laid off 2 times in the same year by racist employers and job market and have been jobless since 1 year, unable to find jobs in which I am overqualified, because I dont speak in cantonese. it is a lost dream and lost cause to work in hong kong.
Notnonly chinese in China but also abroad. I’m the third generation in North America and our family still has this mentality that you need to settle after your graduation and before 30. Guess what! None of my siblings are married with Chinese… and this doesn’t stop my parents asking the second question « when I will be grandparents!? ». There is nothing more selfish than chinese parents. I told them that they should not care about what people think. The worst thing in life is to be married to someone you don’t love just to meet a life milestone!
Produce more produce (fruits and veggies). The availability, quality and price of vegetables was not good. Invest in vertical farming. It would lower the cost and also improve restaurants.
Host more festivals, music, etc. Revitalize the buildings, the grundge is kind of charming in it's own dystopian way, but I think if they were maintenenced and painted it would revitalize the older architecture, like mega structure apartments.
More benches, places to sit. Cheaper food options, even if that means smaller portions for less, like Bangkok the portions are smaller. Pop up cafe carts with a few stool or low chair seats (like in Vietnam) on the street sides or outside of restaurants, around town, in parks. More vending machines that take cash. Greenery plants on streets, lamp posts, at tram stops. Create more and improve the parks, park design ie in Bangkok is great.
It seems to me that, of course, the main thing can be to have money and connections where you are trying to build your business; this requires a lot of money
