Thanks for viewing. You can see that Old Time Music is my favorite. I love the creativity and the wide range of tunes and styles. The Appalachian String Band Festival at Clifftop WV is my favorite Old-Time experience. The venue is mostly primitive camping and playing music at the camp sites. There is also a talent competition, flatfoot dancing, master player performances and cranky movies. Some of the best young and older talent from around the world are attracted to this event. There is nothing like it.
Hi Mr Molski. I love to see you play music. It is a real challenge for me. I started fiddle two years ago at 79, I am now 81. How can I get y0ur Cd's. The young lady across from you plays with such is that her sister beside her. Thanks for the pods.
What percentage of guitar players are playing the melody line? If my own jam has a 2nd guitar player, I'm usually playing the same line as the fiddles..
I’ve never been to Clifftop, but I played with some of the musicians, including my ex-wife, Bette Conway, and Jude O’Dell, in Indianapolis Potter and musician. It works are remarkable. There was another old-time banjo players name of now forgotten. There’s something about the music and they stretch that one song at her to nap for so many minutes and it had so much with different instruments and emphasis on the different notes and all that stuff. This is a real pleasure and I thank you very much. I can’t resist talking about the Philly folk festival where I did go with Bette Conway, where we sold her jewelry, and I fell into the clutches of Irish whiskey, leading into a sojourn at the Bath, New York, VA hospital. No matter who you are if you can attend one of these great festivals go! The bluegrass festivals are also excellent, and that’s where I got into my first band as a five string banjo player with Lee, Carter and the Morgan County ramblers, Charlie Eisenhower was our fiddler and we played every night for five years at pats Tavern Saturday night in Mooresville Indiana
I got under that tent a couple times...2008 and 2009! The atmosphere is 💥💥 explosive. .....In 1980 I was on an adventure from Ct. We landed in Morgantown, at a bar, that had an open Mike for Bluegrass. I knew a total of 3 songs, and pushed myself to get up and play! When I floundered the whole thing and got back to my beer, one of the guys told me this. " Hey Kid, get yourself a better guitar!"...which I did. When I walked into this jam tent, i felt like I was back at that bar in 1980. I did have a better guitar and almost 100 songs! That bar in Morgantown was the real deal. So much talent. So much real music. I was tripping out !!!
Jake Krack is a good guy, and a great fiddle player. I met him in Galax in 2007. I almost got to sit in a song session later that day, .... but it didn't quite work out... I probably had the jitters....
Great job here... that old timey fiddle sound just fills the sky... that's the Clifftop feeling!!! I was there in 2008 and 2009... Woody was up there by the water tower... Roger Sprung, Jake, the Nephew's of Jimmie Stewart ....ahhhhhh
I have played this video over and over. I am an aspiring fiddle player who hasn't picked up a fiddle in years. Ran across this video again last week and the fiddler's have inspired me to pick it up again. I love this song and I love the extended version these 5 played.
