Currently reading Ran and the gray world and needed to see what others think about it. It's certainly interesting. Lol. I know this video is from years ago but I use myanimelist to check out info on manga just as much as anime. It'll show you how many volumes are out and if it's ongoing. 😊
hey! I'm a queer trans woman who is relatively new to manga and anime fandom; my trans boyfriend has done everything he can to lead me through initiation but he mostly reads BL and so I'm starved for GL / Yuri and need to find my people! subbed x
Everyone is saying the ending is worth it and I somewhat agree and disagree because *spoiler* it’s great that she does not end up with him and instead with Makoto but I did not really like how they kind of make it seem like Otaro at the end was never a bad guy and that his love was pure is kind of what I was getting which was just really weird to me that Jin and Makoto seemed to be the only ones who thought it was highly inappropriate. Otaro’s friend and butler even treat it like it was never a bad or weird thing when they learn Ran was a child the whole time and it’s revealed Otaro at some point already caught on that she was a child and uuuuuhhh it was weird anyway cayse he thought she was 16 which is already creepy. I thought the shift was unsatisfying to me and there’s even another older sorcerer that starts to hit on Ran’s girlfriend like ugh I thought it was over smh
Watching your video made me realize how far I am from completing my own CLAMP collection. But I have also collecting the art books, with my favourite being Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, the crossover to Xxxholic.
It was great to see the perspective of someone who’s wlw and into manga (as an adult) but as someone who’s just got into high school I tend to prefer school life Yuri other than slice of life, mainly due to the fact that i can relate to that content but I think the reason there are more high school oriented Yuri is because the authors are mainly young adults or tend to base on that genre more
We have the same intro xxxholic in clamp series!! It was just love ❤️ trying to read cardcaptor for the first time it’s so cutesy, can’t wait to dive into Tsubasa….
I personally love this manga even though I was weirded out by a certain plot point for a while. Art is gorgeous and most of the story is beautiful as well
The only CLAMP I own is Myuki-Chan in Wonderland. And it’s one of my all time favorite things. It’s so stupid and so gay and so problematic, I laugh at it from beginning to end. I read it when it first came out in English. I was 13 and it’s pure nostalgia for me now lol
The truth is, I like the manga, I enjoyed the yuri, but I think that afterward it becomes somewhat forced and something that I don't understand, how are there women who agree to sleep with Kuroko? Are they all bisexual?
I wouldn't call myself a Clamp fan but. At one point in my life, I really got into manga and bought the first Chobits book at a Samgoody in the mid early 2000's and it the it's the only manga series I bought on release date to completion. This video really takes me back to waiting on the next volume to be released for Chobits Awsome
just found your channel!! (and i love it.) i don't see many people reviewing yuri manga, or at least i don't look thoroughly enough, but i would like to recommend a manga that i personally consider very underappreciated. it's called “kakeochi girl” or “run away with me, girl”, it's a devastating and cathartic story about two girls who dated in highschool and then coincidentally run into eachother 10 years later. (potential spoilers ahead) momo ("maki'') makimura's first relationship with midori oonishi ended because midori thought that they were "too old to date" leading to their break up, and maki still hasn't gotten over her feelings for midori. after the encounter, they catch up with eachother, midori revealing some things, maki finding it weird and noticing a lot of red flags, encourages midori to run away with her, and eventually finding solace within eachother. that's all i can say without spoiling further. i recommend this not only because of the intriguing drama, and amazingly written characters, but also because of the breathtaking art. the eye candy really tie things up nicely. a really good read, in my opinion, and i hope more people get to read it, too.
i'm a collector of their art books. and its pretty darn pricy. each art book of theirs youd be expecting price avg $40- 80. xxxholic art book is currently priced at 200-600. most their art books are discontinued. I recently sold my collection of Cardcaptor manga 1-6 and about to sell my 3 collection of art book
I feel like high school can be good, I think the big issue with most yuri is the lack of a story, so a lot of yuri/gl isn't too good. You'll find that most ppl enjoy high school anime but I think the difference is that they have an actual story or there is some kind of story present. This genre lacks storylines and character development. but I do see more and more gl/Yuri popping up yay. And don't get me wrong I love yuri. enough to make my own gl/yuri manga/comic. Great video! I understand your point, when they are in college but the lacking story, like bad thinking diary and after hours, they are adults, and in my opinion they aren't good. what does the fox say was an adult one that was good. so I guess it depends.
I am reading all clamps works by publising order before reading tsubasa chronicles and xxholic. I am in the middle of rg veda and I was looking to hear the opinion of other people about it! thanks for the video and for avoiding big spolers!! (Yeah knowing that the heaven god was not that good was one spoiler indeed, but that was only about it) I am still trying to figure out how the story will evolve yet, but two things surprised me already: 1-The thing with clamp stories and predictions/destiny/dream premonitions... you can see it in rg veda, in X, in card captor, in chobits... and those are the few ones I know. It has been consistent from the beggining. 2-The fact how characters that you got attached too really die. The beggining characters were okay. Its for story plot, and you dont know much about them. But the first a character that I was looking forward to see more often died , I was like: NO WAY?! You didnt just killed it like that? Its just a misunderstanding.... and nop. they really kill characters mercilessly. Which made me read it more eagerly. Like... never let them know your next move, 90's version. xD Oh so at the end we get to know some reasons... hmm~~ okay okay! lets see! Oh noo... I think ashura is very cutely designed. Its a cute character. I cant imagine why you hate it! Lets see how the story develops~~
The great thing about CLAMP's manga is that, even if the story isn't always so good, the artwork makes up for it. And even CLAMP's "flop" manga is still better than most of today's series. 😅 With Yen Press releasing a new edition of TB later in the year, I really WISH 😂 that some other CLAMP titles will get reprints as well. Whilst I haven't yet read all of their works, my Top 5 CLAMP manga (as of now) are: 5. CCS 4. Kobato/TB (can't decide between them) 3. Suki 2. MKR (Part I, still need to read Part II) 1. Chobits I first read Suki in June 2009, when I was 17. At that time, I was extremely depressed. Plus, it was winter (I live in South Africa) and Suki opens in winter. It may not be their best manga, but Suki really cheered me up during that time, so it's very special to me. I read it online (Tokyopop version), so the very day it gets a reprint I'm getting it. 😊
Late to this but 'I Can''t Believe I Slept With You' is.... well, one character is 19, but they're both women who've graduted high school and have entered the working world (although one has lost her job as part of the premise).
As a male I read and own Princess Jellyfish, Wotakoi, Paradise Kiss, Nana, Pink, Helter Skelter, I think our Son is Gay... Josei also contains smut, Yuri and Yaoi. I have not posted these above.
I loved this video so much purely because, I've been a huge fan of the way Aki Irie writes for years. I'm so glad that other readers have just about a similar but different interpretation of the story. The way this manga was written made me rethink a lot of things in my life and by far the complex but casual tackling of certain issues has me stunned. It really follows a show don't tell format of writing and despite how much flack this series will get for this particular day and age where anything that has nuance is looked at with scorn and disdain, I truly think it fits the audience it's written for and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it
Its been a while since i finished this manga but i still remember dispising that love intrest, he was a complete asshole who didnt respect ran at all. My only hope was that ran would see this and realise he was never a good person, intead we got a sappy death scene that felt undeservedly sad and just made me angry
I don't collect that much manga to save space for my figure collection. So instead I collect CLAMP artbooks. I currently have all three Tsubasa chronicle artbooks, Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card/Exhibition, all three Code Geass artbooks, Chobits, and The Art of Clamp. I'm currently looking for the Xxxholic artbook, the three X artbooks and the rest of the Cardcaptor Sakura artbooks.
