Hi I didn’t see any where else to comment but I saw your video on how to thread the riccar 706, I found that exact model at a yard sale and i haven’t been able to figure out how to install the bobbin, if you see this and have time, anyway you could help me would be amazing
I’ve been trying so hard to come up with a way to keep my DIP splints on! They’re either too tight and I can barely get them on and off, or so loose they are always coming off if I go up a size. So I’ve had such a hard time deciding which sizes to go with! Thank you for sharing this rubber band trick!
Just adding this reply in case anyone comes across my comment in the future and it’s relevant to them: if you have really big PIP knuckles, the rubber band trick might not work so well for you. Since my rings have to be large enough to fit over my knuckles, they’re rather loose on the PIP end. So when I put the rubber bands on, my PIP rings get pulled up towards my DIP rings, making it so the PIPs aren’t sitting in the right spot to do their job. I’m so bummed this trick didn’t end up working for me! So if you’re in a situation like mine, maybe try to go for the smallest possible size that fits over your PIP joint to prevent this. I maybe could have gone with a 7 instead of 7.5, not sure how much of a difference it would make. But more importantly… If you’re reading this and debating whether to get splints now or wait… DON’T WAIT!!! I wish I’d known about them earlier in life and gotten them before my knuckles got huge. Fitting would have been SO MUCH EASIER!!
I have had the worst time figuring out some of these wraps and having them come out like the tutorial but yours came out JUST like you showed us. Thank you! This is definitely easy and one of my new favorite wraps!
Hi, like the video. Can you tell me how do you put on eyeliner on your waterline without glasses? I try and get thick lines instead of a thin line like yours.
I have a mirror that I can bring really close to me and then I use eye liners that aren’t too creamy so I have more control. I am really loving the makeup forever artist color pencils. They are very pigmented, firm enough for good control but not so hard that you have to press and hurt your eye just to get color.
Haha, that's because I invented the idea. Before this zebras were loosing thier splints left and right. When I got mine I was determined to find a way to fix that.😊❤
How do I get the MCP thumb joint ring? I’m in Staten Island NY and no therapist or surgical supply store even know what this is? Do you make these rings? Where do I get a link to buy these rings for my osteoarthritis! You can also email me at randy@sipuggles.com. Love the way these look. I’m looking to stop the pain in my left thumb second joint and some of my other knuckles.. Thanks for making this video.
You can find them on online stores. I don’t know if you still need this, but you can fund them on Etsy (a little pricey though) or on Zebrasplints.org (plus they’re having a 50% off sale)
Hi! just recently got my thumb and DIP splints in. Waiting for PIP splints. The problem is that I feel as though my DIPs are too tight. I realize they have to be even more snug than the PIPs so as not to fly off, but they feel so uncomfortable. Is this normal and do you get used to it? The only one that is semi comfortable has already slid off twice. I can't use the rubber band to help until I get my PIPs... So I am not sure if I should return them and get them a little bigger or not. What do you think I should do? Obviously I don't want them to fall off, but I also don't want them so tight that I hate using them. Thank you!
My dip are not tight. If they are uncomfortably tight then they are the wrong size and on days when your hands swell they won’t fit at all. Also I would wait till the pip’s come in and you can band them together to wear them. It’s not worth cost of loosing them to me. I currently use latex free orthodontic bands. Like the kind used on braces to adjust a persons bite. They last much longer.
JennJenn. Ok, so I've gotten one DIP resized a little bigger and it's much better and I've gotten used to the others. My problem now is that my 3D thumb splint literally caused a bone spur after wearing it for about a month. Its not attractive and I'm definitely not wanting it to get worse. Also, my left 3D thumb splint is waiting at my hand therapist's office, I haven't even picked it up yet. Now I'm not sure what to do. If I go with the MCP thumb splint like you have, which is prettier, I won't have as much support nor can I wear my thumb IP splints. But at the same time I don't want ugly bone spurs growing out of my MCP joints! This is a huge bummer. :(
Jess D Sorry, only just saw your reply. I no longer have the thumb splints from this video. Had to upgrade to the 3D due to the instability of my thumbs worsening. That being said the ones I had first do provide a fair amount of support and if you can’t tolerate the 3D splints they are still much better than nothing.
Jess D I’m also wondering if your thumb splint is sized wrong. Where exactly on the mcp joint is the spur happening? I have an ulnar suppourt on mine that I had to fiddle with for a while before I got it comfortable. I’m still thinking you are fitted too tightly somewhere or the measurements where off for the length/width etc of the plate on your splint.
+Ms LadyT Glad to help :) some day I'll do an update. I found out that the bands I am using to keep them are latex. I'm doing some more research on an inexpensive latex free option that is the right size.
Great, not sure if I'm alergic to latex, but I'll check whenever I sign in to RU-vid...I have arthritis in my hands and I'm so glad I came across your clips...
Awesome Jenn, thank you! That's how mine bend. I thought they were fitted wrong, but it looks like I'm right on target with yours. Now I just need the DIPs. I don't think mine will cross over as much because I have skeletor fingers. :)
Glad to help! I loaded this a while ago and have two more video's so don't miss those! I still take care of my rings and keep them from falling off using these same methods.
Wow, thank you! My daughter has EDS (as do I) and just got her first set of PIP/DIP splints (we did one finger first to test how they'd work for her), and this video is really helpful! Cheers! :)
