Ever wish you could time travel? I sure do! Since we can't do that in reality, why not set the table for a traditional Colonial era meal? What is your favorite time period in history?
We are in our third summer of what is now "extreme drought". For the first 2 months I watered frantically, but everything I watered died. I finally just gave up. Native plants (heliopsis, echinacea, Joe Pye Weed, black-eyed Susans and blue mist flower) did well without supplemental water. Japanese anemones are just blooming away. My newer daylilies all died, while the historic ones bloomed well.
@@SMElder-iy6fl Like you, I also watered during this summer's first drought, then also gave up. I'm glad to hear that your native plants did well! There's something to be said for planting native varieties. Sorry to hear about your new daylillies. Fingers crossed for more rain next summer!
That's a tough job. Good for you. I'm working on removing an older rose now and have clay soil. It's been challenging but I should be able to do it in stages.
Come take a tour of my garden in September. It's been a tough summer, as far as rain goes. There wasn't a lot of it and certain plants have paid the price, while others have thrived. Let me know in the Comments section how your garden fared this summer!
I love your sweet and simple tablescapes. I feel like I can duplicate them at home, and my family can enjoy them. I confess I usually like your outfits even more. Can I ask where you got the beautiful dress?
@@brendabodnar8573 Thank you! I'm glad to hear that you've been inspired by my tablescapes! So, the dress is from Top It off in Rehoboth Beach, DE. It's a shop located right on Rehoboth Ave. Would you believe it was only $20.00??? If you're in the Mid Atlantic region, definitely spend a day in Rehoboth - the beach is beautiful and the shops and restaurants are great!
It's that time of year - kids are going back to school and the last days of summer are upon us. What's better than to celebrate with an ice cream sundae bar? Follow along for a simple, summery table setting!
Have you had a hot summer and your garden is the worse for wear because of it? There's much to do, but the sun is strong, so let's wait until it starts going down and get some gardening done! Watch until the end for mindfulness moments! #mindfulness
I so enjoyed this! So wonderful to find a decor channel that doesn't encourage one to go out and buy the latest trendy things. I also like being able to reuse items and save money. Thank you so much! 🇺🇲🇺🇲😁😁
Thank *you* so much for your kind words! As fun as it is sometimes to watch elaborate tablescape videos, most of us don't have a lot of extra money for that. It's kind of fun to see what you can put together for very little money - or even no money!
@heatherathome545 Yes! I also find pleasure in bringing out some of my well loved items. One of my sisters was so talented in taking seemingly nothing, and making beautiful things out of them. I was always amazing at the results of her finished projects! 🙂🙂💗💗

My mom's peonies didn't bloom too many last year, but this year there were at least 15 blooms. I gave the roots extra room, and took back the barrier by a few inches. I added strawberries to the base for root cover, and I added extra soil, all in the fall. I added leaves from the willow tree and it bloomed so beautifully, I gave some flowers away. Taking the rose out and putting it in a separate container, don't throw it out. Wash it dish washing liquid, and add some egg shells and banana peel to the soil. Sometimes the area it grows is dry and depleted of nutrients. You soil might need some organic matter, the wood mulch is not allowing the soil to grow certain plants. You might need a small compost pile directly in the soil.
Thank you for this excellent advice! Your mom's peonies sound beautiful. I think you're right - the roots need more space. I'm going to do remove quite a bit of the creeping phlox that's crowding the peony. Thank you!
Another great video you put together. I’d love your memorial day tablescape beautifully put together by you love the colors and the theme. You did a wonderful job. Keep up the good work, my dear friend.
Thanks - I got lucky with that hosta! Ah, so you also have an annual salvia that overwintered. Were you surprised, too? At this point, I'm not going to remove any annuals in the fall - it's a money-saver when they make it through the winter. Gotta love zone 7!
Beautiful garden! Do you know the name of the blue hydrangea? It is stunning! It reminds me of my mom's old fashion hydrangea and unfortunately I did not get cuttings from it when she passed away. I would love to get my hands on one. 💙
Thank you so much, Faye! I wish I knew the name of the blue hydrangea. It was the only thing that was planted before I bought my house (I did a lot of work to create garden needs). I'm so sorry about your mom's passing away and that you didn't get a cutting from her beautiful hydrangea. All I can suggest is to keep your eyes open at garden centers and check some of the top plant catalogs (Bluestone Perennials and Whiteflower Farm are good ones).
Come set the table with me for a Memorial Day BBQ! We'll also discuss the meaning of Memorial Day. It's the unofficial kickoff to summer! What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend?
Come along as I decorate the front porch, including painting the front door, laying an outdoor rug and other decor. Have you decorated your entry yet for summer?
