Rachel it’s your uncle Walt🤗 I never tire of you doing Brecht🤘🏾(I’m dying to tell you of a new Brecht project I’m working on 🤫 especially now that some of his work is in public domain🥳). Last year when you posted this I shared a link of one of my Brecht translations, your aunt, uncle and Bailey were in the audience for this performance. Love you miss you uncle Walt ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WO_KmHTjcJU.htmlfeature=shared
🤣AHa! I’ve been singing this in my head all weekend except in English! I realized I had translated this 20 years ago for a performance my friend Juanita and I did. I’ve found the piece and uploaded it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WO_KmHTjcJU.html it’ll change the whole ‘vibe’ of the song for you! ❤️you
Hey, Hi, Aloha! This is hardcore cultural appropriation at its finest. You literally stripped everything of the culture. This is a religious text, a spiritual song, based on the power and life. And you stripped it of the essence of which it came. I cannot stop shaking my head at how offensive this is that you took a beautiful song and turned it into an opera, of which I teach both disciplines. Please learn that this in wrong and that we are capable of celebrating and learning many cultures and their music and celebrate them the way that they are represented. If you want to share this music, share it the way it has been written and sung, as that should be what is 'normal' and accessible. Not changing it for 'popular' or 'European' consumption.
bravo rachel, great performance perhaps you can try to be a little bit less lyrical : from what we can hear in europe from specialists (les arts fleurissants, les ambassadeurs, gardiner, ...), they tend to use less 'brillance' on piece from rameau's time. Also, great acting : it's needed for that opera.
Wow!!! Mes sincères félicitations! C'est un régal de vous écouter, un pur plaisir! Tellement de pureté et de sensibilité dans la voix... J'avoue que je vous envie
OMG Thank You so much for posting this video. I am singing this too and there are a "few" selections on RU-vid for this song and they are either super old or not as good lol. But this one is perfect I love it and you sound awesome.... I am looking forward to perform this song I bet is fun to sing. I'll share the video so you can see it once I post it. Thanks Again so much for posting.
Hi Rachel! Wonderful singing and thank you for sharing! Could you tell me what transcription of the accompaniment/piano you used? I would like to get my hands on it if possible - Thank you! AR
Hi Ashley, sorry for the delay in responding. The edition I used was from a collection called "Recueil d'airs divers de Rameau pour voix de soprano" published by Henry Lemoin, Paris. Hope this helps!
Wow, you do everything perfectly and seamlessly! I'm performing this song soon, and I want to be just like you in your expression, enunciation, and technique. :)
Great performance of a difficult aria that is one of my favorites. I love it so much that I've worked on it in my octave, and know how much work you must have put into it.
absolutely loved it!! totally engaged me from beginning to end. What a delightful perfomer you are Rachel! and of course amazing and equally delightful accompanist!
