Join me as i target multiple species on the fly while also creating informational content. I’ll aim to post weekly showing my trips and well as hopefully spread some information that you may or may not already know :)
Good to see you and your friend do well up there. He's a great guide! Wish I had made the trip with you. Great to see those bulls hook into the flies. Looking forward to fishing with you guys again. All the best!
This video is for sure killing it. It seem big fish also bring big number of viewer lol. Part of it definitely is the help from your shoutout yk so thank you for that
@@THFlyFishing It's all good I thought those mountains looked like might have been Canada. Awesome spot man (I wonder if the shadow of the mountain had anything to do with those ig fish being piled up right there feeding in the afternoon). I watched your video on the dumbell minnow and I'm about to try tying it. I live in Bozeman, MT and I'm sure the browns will love it like you said.
@@nikorolfness1327 well the dumbbell is rlly cuz I was told we will be fishing spot so deep and the guy that was betting my fish bet I couldn’t touch bottom so as a fly tyer I wanted a fly that will get to the bottom fast lol. It can be substitute w anything you want like Conehead. This was early morning which imo is the best time for bull but brown and other trout are quite aggressive then and in the evening as well. Idk about the shadow of the mountain tho, i think it more time of day? Who knows, maybe the shade make them feel protected. Hopefully that pattern do you good! I hope to hear from you one day if it does because I love hearing people catching fish from pattern they learn from me. Tight line!!
Thank you!! Was rlly happy to finally catch a fish on the fly from there even tho it isn’t a coho. Maybe this year lol. Glad you like the giveaway! Good luck!
Include the hook make, size (from that we can then proceed with alternate hook) and thread in your material list. Organize the list in the order the materials are tied in.
Thank you for the feedback! I will edit the list soon and in future video. Originally I wanted to keep the material list basic with missing info to encourage people to experiment w colour, hook type, and maybe even material.
Lol, a blob is a Stillwater fly use to imitate a cluster of daphnia (I also use it when I see scud) there’s ton of colour but for the area near me I find this one is the daphnia colour I see the most. Trout feed on these guy at almost all time of the year as well
Yeah this one's a keeper. I'm gonna use that nail trick for adding weight to my flies. Definitely just increased my options with this one. Thx alot! Looking forward to learning more in the future. Tight lines!
Lol the nail is actually suppose to be a straight pin cut out like the other balance leech, I got an oversize one to prevent the bead falling out but it does look like a nail, one thing I’m doing now that changes is that I’m turning the bead around so the thick side of the bead kinda just cover up that section. Overall it is a very good pattern and I hope you catch ton of fish on it!! Hopefully I can hear back on how u do
Me and other people who I tie this fly for have pick up many species of trout. I’m located in canada and it have caught rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout as well as mnt whitefish in several river and creek I’ve fished. I think this pattern originated in the state for trout
@@THFlyFishing No actually it didn't. I did see the comment pertaining to. I agree with planning contrast when tying. It would make what's already great pop a little. You did a great job. I used to tie in my preteens and teens with my step dad. I was addicted for so long to just making flies. 😂 Back then my step dad would order materials from a fishing magazine ad. It always kept me busy. Rock on! Keep plugging! You'll hit 100k in no time.
@@THFlyFishing I did and he was pretty amazing. He's since passed. He took me to Pennsylvania to fly fish my first time. The flies fascinated me. That first trip I ran them all through my hands imagining how each was made. He surprised me with a kit from a fishing catalog. That's when the addiction started. I spent hours and days making flies. I'd wake and lay down at night thinking of tying. 😂 There's absolutely nothing comparable to me than being in nature. Each tie I'd daydream about our next trip. Even when I couldn't be on a stream my mind was there when tying.
I dont think your wrong. I also want to make the fly look good to me and i care about small detail. Obviously u dont have to do what i do and it will still catch you lots of fish
Oh shoot. Im so sorry. I usually wear white in my vid because most trout fly is darker in colour or in vibrant colour. I think i just forgot that im using white today 😅🥲
Good looking fly! When you do the zonker collar, you can feed the strip through the dubbing loop leather first. Once the leather is through the loop, pull to length and trim. That was a game change for me. Makes a more neat and clean zonker collar.
Hm, sorry but i’m slightly confuse lol. I thought that was what i did? I have it in while it was attach to the leather then cut it. I adjust the length after because i dont like to have too much hair on the short side. Maybe im missing something so please correct me 🤣
Not really sure why you are using the wire you can't see it I just think it would be better to tie it in with your thread but it's a good looking fly 😊 I will try and tie some!!
I think the main reason for the wire is to prevent the strip to slip. I think it happen more than people think. If you find that u tie it without wire and it work find then obviously dont stop. Thanks for watching! Its a great fly to add in your box for sure, hopefully it catch some monster for u. Hopefully you find this video informational
Oh yea dude i rlly wanna get one . Just havent had time because im trying to balance school and whipping out a bunch of flies. I will for sure get one when i get a chance tho. Thank you for watching!!
Hi, im using a size 10 standard streamer hook and 1/8 bead. I didnt fully touch on it because i believe everyone have different scenarios. This fly can be tie balance or with heavier or smaller bead depend on the condition (such as depth) of the water u usually fish
Whats stopping you? The dubbing is $5, hook and bead is prob $15 ish for 25. So for $20 ish u can tie 25 leech and have plenty of dubbing leftover for more.
@@RosinFlyFishing u requested a fry pattern which i havent had time to experiment w any… yet. For buger steelie pattern. I wanna say i can make one but idk if it work lol. With limited testing who know what work and what doesnt… certainly not me
I agree! I tie them in different length base on where and the time im fishing. They both work i think application and context play a role! Variation is usually the key to success on slower day
I move places lol. Yes you are not allow to fish more than 1 hook in bc. However, I am here for school not here to stay. When i fish here i do fish 1 hook fly and sadly these articulated fly do accumulate dust under my bed. Where I do most of my open water fishing, we are allow to use up to 3 hooks. I appreciate your concern as you’re looking out for the regulation. Thanks for doing your part
@@dixonmak don’t apologize, you were looking out for our fisheries. Never apologize for that man. I would be mad if i feel like someone was breaking the req too lol. If you look at my insta, i tie a pretty diverse group of fly from giant streamer that nothing in bc can eat to everyday nymph and Stillwater flies. The reason why i wanted to have vid like this is to boarded my audience so I don’t mind clearing confusion. If you clip one of the hook this pattern would also be a very good pattern for bullies too!!
