A channel about being a freelance designer in the modern era! While there are a lot of specialists out there, I want to explain the importance of being a generalist when being an independent contractor for design work. The channel will focus a lot on graphic design, illustration, videography, and even some UI/UX techniques. I will also test my skills against community requested jobs and tasks.
I definitely got some good ideas here. My main issue has been attracting people who can’t give input or feedback. They literally don’t know what they want or like even after doing a whole branding questionnaire. It’s a constant guessing game. I ask them to give me examples and what they like is all over the board. I get pictures of rainbows and then they ask for something conservative or traditional. They have trouble seeing the brand as a separate entity. Do you have any videos along this line?
Fantastic video! I learn so much, great insight. And I think it was so nice of you to offer to do it for free considering all the work and effort that went into it
I am gonna do my first call today. And it will be a video call. I am logo designer and a freelancer. I was clueless of how I gonna defend the pricing strategy. But out of nowhere you video comes into recommendation! I got to learn something new.
Talking to clients, when getting to the cost aspect, has always freaked me out. I was always afraid of being too low or too high. Asking the client what their budget is has greatly helped in the freak out department. Thank you, and please post more videos like this.
That’s amazing I’m really aspiring to reach that point, and I would love if you could give me some tips because I’m trying to start up free lancing and I am pretty okay with illustrator.so anything would help.
Great tutorial! #QuickTip: Instead of manually editing the styles in the calendar at 18:26, save your first doc where you got all the styling figured out as "Template.indd" and import the styles into your calendar doc. In the calendar doc, choose "load paragraph styles" from the dropdown, and then select your Template.indd file as the source. It will automatically overwrite any style in the calendar doc with the same name, saving much time :) Do similar for cell styles.
Thank you so much for this! I've always wondered how these kinds of calls go as im still a beginner and kinda nervous for calls haha, but this helps out so much
Terrible idea. This situation had a good outcome because the client was agreeable and understanding. But NEVER EVER in a million years record someone without their initial consent. Meaning, they must understand, exactly at the initial encounter, that this conversation is being recorded. Not only is it illegal in some states to not disclose, but you risk litigation even in states where the law is more open-ended about one party consent because the law leaves it up to the individual to decide if they were harmed in anyway. And get this, the law doesn’t care if you published it or not. Any individual has a reasonable expectation of privacy. Ignorance is completely unforgivable.
You seem to think that they will incur legal expenses and take him to court over this matter, investing their time and energy. However, I’m confident he’s intelligent enough to be aware of what you've mentioned, yet nothing will happen because it’s not a significant issue
This is underrated video can't believe this is free, Theory lessons + Actual experience is really complete detailed solution for us, Thank you! God Bless!
What a way to turn this around at the end! Knowing how much work is put into the business cards alone is crazy, not to mention the logo. Goes without saying that your designs are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Loved the process and the content. Most helpful content of course. I think you should keep half the money and leave the half remaining. I would love to see more of these videos
Question. Is the $1000 package your true pricing, or the buffer ( based on her budget ) to mature it sound like you’re meeting half way and making it sound like a deal?
Hey! I just wanted to thank you a lot for this piece of content you made. I've been looking for the full process a designer goes through with a client, from the first approach. So I can prepare my own process for the first and the consecutives clients. I didn't find it until now, this is very helpful for me, thank you so much!
I love this and I would like you to be my mentor as a graphic designer and a tutor as well someone I look up to in the industry if you don't mind @Generalist Mao i wouldn't be looking forward to your response just like your uniqueness 👍🫶
