784 views only? shocker but yes as games encompass features from many genres these genre tags do become kind of redunant and not very useful. so many games now have open world settings, rpg level up mechanics, looting gear, stealth elements, solving puzzles, immersive choice/moral systems its all one giant blob of game genres
@e10withadot i dont know it can be fixed. We could describe games by their gameplay mechanics but people probably just want one word to describe the game instead of a whole paragraph. Also it seems people cant agree on things either. Whenever i look up a game if its open world or not half the people said yes and the other half said no. So which one is it? I actually like the dated clone genre names. Gta clone i know what kind of open world game it means the sandboxy arcadey open world game. Far cry clone would be another specific style of open world gameplay with some crafting and where your going around taking over checkpoints for your faction. Fallout 4 clone for the openworld with heavy rpg elements, looting and lots of dialogue
Funny you should say that, because I did actually want to make a part 2 to this that talks about comparison culture and why it may be harmful for the industry. I think boiling down games to just being “clones” is a problem, since it practically strips out all individuality from certain games.
@e10withadot i would be interested in watching that! But i think people do like things familiar and sometimes chsnge is scary so clones of games can be appealing to others especially when the game has similar gameplay but a different setting
Since there’s a new Mario and Luigi game releasing this year I thought to finally put in my Top 10 favorites {10. Come On!} An absolute classic, it’s fast paced and simple, like how an enemy battle should be. {9. Come On! (Remix)} It’s the same thing as 10, but modern and better, kinda wish they used this version in Superstar Saga DX. {8. Princess Shroob Battle} I really don’t get why I like this theme, it’s just so damn good. It’s a good theme. {7. Final Battle (Paper Jam)} For a game with two dang Bowsers, it never had to go this hard, but here we are. I must say, the Bowser in the Paper suit of armor was unexpected but such a cool concept. Like my god. {6. The Final Cackletta (DX and Original)} Both of these fights are the same yet unique at the same time. Original is faster and less intense, and the DX has more of the intense yet slow. Both of these fused together would make the ultimate theme. The only reason why they’re in the same tier is because I can’t decide which one I liked more. {5. Fawful and Cackletta DX} Something about this one just feels way better than the other, it just conveys the chaotic theme way more than the original, and I like it that way. {4. A Fateful Clash} Even though the Dark Fawful battle was fine it didn’t feel like it was important enough. It was just you battling Fawful with the normal boss music, so Nintendo decided to fix that and oh my god, words can’t describe how good this is. I damn love this theme so much, and it really adds on to the fact that Fawful is no one to be messed with despite his weird way of saying things. {3. Final Antasma Battle} Wow, this is so good. The violin and the beat is just so god damn pleasant to the ears. It’s really the ultimate battle with your own nightmare, and I love it. {2. Popple and Rookie DX} I don’t care if any of you think this is too high up the list. It rightfully deserves to be in the top 3. I absolutely love this theme to death. It’s so catchy and in my opinion does it way better than the original. My god. {1. Destroy The Dark Power} Absolutely beautiful. It has perfect build up and it just proves that this battle is for all the marbles. Just an ultimate fight with probably the most dangerous parasite in this world inside Bowser. What more could you say? Also the piano at the end is just the cherry on top. [Honorable Mentions] The Grand Finale (DX and Original) Minions Battle Come On! DX Battle! The Partners in Time normal Battle theme fits the shroobs so well, idk how to explain it Ah so does the boss theme, and even more so now that I hear it again!
