THANKS 4 video man. First - you should really do an YNGWIE CORNER ALL IN ; ) maybe sell some stuff and buy YJM amphead and Marshall 4x12 T0 the PEDALS - i own 3 different RED FENDER OD - ONE sounds bright Fantastic - 2 dull OK - components matter Ive also bought some MXR as DUKE of tone - would say the MXR dist sound is in a way Nice but same way,,,,,dry correct, little bit compressed et c... My ERROR guess here would be Pedal 1 Sounds 'open in dist character and fairly clean nice bright Pedal 2 - Close to pedal 1 but LITTLE more muddy freq - not positive way in ear Pedal 3 - More compressed dist character , still nice dist sound overall.... I would guess as the MXR I think pedal 1 is the best for shred SOLOING neck PU - and pedal 3 would be my chugga chugga riff choice Have a nice day Brandon cheers from Sweden ( not tested new one yet - out of stock 1 more week)
@guitaremg8116 thanks for watching and commenting! I'm really not that technical of a player, it would take me forever to put together an Yngwie cover haha I added the reveal video to the description of this video if you want to see which is which 😁
@derekdamager7928 yeah, very subtle differences at full blast for sure. As I mentioned in the Unboxing video, we know Yngwie isn't going to go out and significantly change his tone after all this time. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good video! I have a DOD YJM 308 that I use with a Japanese YJM Strat with HS3’s - it rips. Got the new MXR on order as the lack of LED annoyed me (although to be fair, it can be modded….). Looking forward to testing it!
Nice! I got both the yellow and the red one from sweet water. Bought them around 10am and they were still available until a few hours they sold out I haven’t tried it yet but I will
Much easier to hear not clarity for sure! Funny because I was going to record this upcoming comparison with the YJM Custom Shop, but will most likely use one of the HS-3 strats instead for that exact reason!
@@dfkman I got to do some comparisons today for a while, only with all settings at noon, but there are definitely some differences, some subtle, some more pronounced!
Queen Is In Love. Heaven Tonight. Making Love. Those have some slower pumping riffs. Integrating some low single string stuff, and some upper harmony and inversion play. Looking forward to the video!!
Might I suggest Amber Dawn as a good Yngwie piece to compare tones between the different models. It has a very deliberate slow tempo and also has some melodic speedy solos in some parts. I also happen to own the original DOD YJM308 and was put off by it not having a light display. That's the main reason that I'm thinking about replacing it with the MXR model. It'd be nice to find out that it had a little more gain than those other models but I'm really not expecting to hear any real difference between them myself.
@megablasterboc7474 at noon, the differences are definitely noticeable. At full volume, it's a lot less apparent. I still imagine Yngwie probably plays with the volume on his guitar nowhere near full volume. I had to turn the gain on my Uberschall down to 1 to keep note clarity with the pedals at full volume lol
@@xounlistedxox That's the one point on Yngwie I've never heard anybody address is where he sets the volume on his guitar. I know on the actual pedal he has them set on full. I also know that he constantly tweaks his volume control to do swells and effects of that type.
@megablasterboc7474 oh for sure, definitely no way his guitar volume was maxed. When I met him, he said he keeps the pedals and amps maxed, and gets exactly what he needs from the guitar volume, so it's likely all over the place lol
@@11000038 @11000038 there's a ton of unboxing videos that have a lot less info than this video does. And this does say exactly what the video is... in the title? You're more than welcome to make your own video however you like 👍
You know what's pointless? Your opinion in this matter (but other matters, I'm sure your opinion does matter.. because you matter... and you good... and matter.).
It’s a new popular pedal getting a lot of RU-vid searches, and Brandon is a prominent figure in the Malmsteen Gear community. Not pointless at all. I’m super looking forward to the pedal shoot out now.
@nickh1933 they're set up really well straight away, I didn't even have to touch the truss rod so far 🤞 it can be a pain in the butt if you're in an area that has dramatic humidy changes I suppose. I keep mine in the most consistent temperature room in the house, and it's always fantastic!
@@AlbertFrontier2 awesome! The value you get from these pedals is phenomenal! They allow you to get similar tone shaping capabilities to the original Aphex units, like how Metallica used them for a fraction of the price.
My T Verb is a G and doesn’t need a boost either. But a treble booster into Orange vintage is a lot of fun and both the clean, set a little dirty and the blues setting, take boosts really well for different flavor.
@zacinnc78 great ears! I like some of the riffs on the Mark and some on the Recto, lol. This was very evenly matched, IMO. Next I may put a boost up front of the recto and a PEQ in the loop of the Mark and do another comparison
Rev F Tremoverb's came out mid year in 93. Not many were made and most were rev G's. That's why most people don't know they exist. I love my 92 Rev F with the mark III transformers. So mean and doesn't need a boost!
According to Fluff’s recto guide the ReV F’s with the mark III transformers didn’t last long maybe up to serial 1500. Then Mesa switched them to the mark IV transformers all the way into the G series
@ThyFinalPain the JP-2C is a Masterpiece in brutal metal tones, I know you'll love it! Have you played one before? I can see you spending a LOT of tome on Shred Mode!
@@xounlistedxox I already had one of the Limited Version, but i was dumb enough to sell it fast. After that, Mesas haven't been available in Europe. Now i've been waiting for over 2,5 Years. :D It's a great Amp.
@@xounlistedxox Yeah. I've only seen the used one i bought back then. Mesa switched to a different Transformer Supplier. I'm curious how they differ, if at all.
The #1 is the Mark. It has that very distinctive mid range bark that rectos lack. I've owned a couple of rectifiers and I love them, but ended up selling them and kept my Mark Rev A because you can get a Mark soundind close to a recto, but you just can't get a recto to have that mid range presence.
Can't wait for you to get a green, as that pentode mode just hits you, hard. Coupled with the aggressiveness of the later III preamp (blue/green), I expect that green would be the most aggressive and most punchy of all the Marks ever made. Mine has so much punch to it, that when I compare my other amps wired in triode, or set my IV on that mode, I feel the sound is so much more dull by comparison.
@@xounlistedxox I now know why my MKIII was just not sounding right...I had it plugged into the 4 Ohm input on the 1960B cabinet. I just plugged it into the 16 Ohm input on the cabinet and sounds so much better now!
id like to see you get your best tone out of a 2c++ and i mean every peq ,compresor ,whatever you use to get that tone .....and then try to replicate it with a blue stripe (using all those effects, tubes ,etc too but not trying to use the same amp settings, if u get me)cause its hard to get a hold of a 2c++ nowadays lol
@zacinnc78 IMO, blue stripe is 90-95% of a C+ with the ability to be more bright and slightly more saturated. I've had 2 of them so far to compare with my C+/++. This is the main reason I did this series, to show people how close they actually are. People all over have been short changing the Mark III's for many years, and if you have a III you're not really missing much. There aren't many C+ owners that will be honest and tell you that.
before i check the reveal,i like #2 sounds tighter ,1 sounds more mix ready(slightly fuller, more gain ,more sizzle) (i like 2 it sounds ready to crank and be ready to cut through a band situation and just be tight as hell)but wow they are super close!
@@xounlistedxox very important ,because seeing something can make you judge things with a huge bias or placebo.....much like the tube comparisons ....they all sound the fking same to me lol
This is one of 3 master effects pedals i want. I recently got a rane pe17 parametric eq but didnt get the night and day difference i expected like a graphic eq does. Tried it in every configuration w no mind-blowing tone. I used a digital parametric eq along with my mesa boogie quad preamp and tone matched it to eye of the beholder. I like it, some dont. It's uploaded on my channel. Keep up the work, bet that room is a fun to be in.
@xounlistedxox that's what's throwing me off with the rane. I hear it changing the tone, like a wah pot hitting frequencies you don't want. Just not getting awesome metal chuggery with it like with scooping the mids on a graphic eq.
@cfh13 yep, they are not all created equal thats for sure. That's kinda like the Alesis Micro EQ, it does some cool stuff and tone shaping, but doesn't quite get there
@xounlistedxox luckily it wasn't a total bust since the guy through in a rack mountable rane graphic eq for free. $75 total for both. The graphic eq is nice w more options then my mxr 10 band. Scooping both graphics together gets a surprisingly nice tone w a Mark V 90w and quad preamp.
@@theriffroom well... Aphex EQF-2 lol. Of the others, two EQ3B work well together, and the Alesis Micro EQ works well with the original PMEQ, probably even better with the Revision 2 PMEQ
A couple of days ago, the ToneGodz channel published a video with Flemming, who presented his 15-hour master class, where he will recreate the tone of the bass, drums and guitars of Master of Puppets, Ride The Lightning and And Justice For All with previously unseen notes and facts with a team of people. It includes the master class itself, a pack of impulses for bass and electric guitar taken from the same equipment that they used in the studio, a webinar with Flemming himself. Only the whole package costs $700. Yeah, he posted the notes before but only a couple, not all of them. I'm pretty upset we will never know how it was really done. But I enjoy your videos anyway.
@@yevhenfedorets6509 great info, much appreciated! Would be cool to attend for sure, but with a Mark amp and two PEQ, you can get 90%+ album tone in the room. I'm ok with that!
@@xounlistedxox I just wanted to say that this will happen. This is the holy grail for Metallica fans. But yeah, I agree, Boogie, good ears, T75 and EQ and you will get it.
I am really curious to see how this sounds with an SM-57 against the cab. I’m looking to replicate Puppets/Justice/Black (however much I can) with my Mark V + 1960A cab
@manukanthan1211 I have a video detailing a little bit of that! The V is the most dry of any Mark series I've owned, so it doesn't play in that space quite as well. Thanks for watching and commenting! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cl_NzUzjFQ0.htmlsi=KFLpcoCI3LKKh_Qu
@manukanthan1211 Master Effects made these pedals by being incredibly details and following the schematics of the original Aphex EQF-2, which is what Metallica was using back then, so yes, it will definitely get you very much into that space. There are many variables in slecs for PEQ's, so using the same values is incredibly important
@@xounlistedxox I am considering getting one of the pedals from ME but wonder if I can get by with 1. Perhaps EQFH might be more versatile if I want the whole spectrum of sounds?
@manukanthan1211 depends on what you're going for. Lambchopper has a video of him using the EQFH to get in that Justice tone realm. I haven't tried the EQFH, so I wouldn't feel comfortable giving advice on it.
@metriffs it's significantly improved from the first one IMO. Much easier to dial in, especially the High Frequency! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@danielhenry4614 the new pedal is available now! PEQ's seem to have a less dramatic effect on the JP-2C, but can still get you closer to the scooped tones!
