Went for two hour test ride on Pan America. I currently have an ultra limited and after the ride would certainly not trade for the Pan Am. The Pan Am is certainly lighter, faster, & more nimble. The bad is the small shifter and brake pedal, the insane amount of buffeting, the most road noise I have heard on a bike, & a ridiculous amount of heat. It was a fun ride and maybe might be suitable for a second bike once in awhile but certainly not your main bike if you are into longer road trips. Don't think that the off road abilities make up for the other faults of this bike but a sorta fun ride LOL!!!!
The Pan Am is pretty good, I have a 2022 Pan Am Special, got it in March 2023. I ride practically everyday, going everywhere, it is a lot of fun. Things to watch are the front radiator hose near the header, it gets a bit burnt if you don't shorten it or wrap the header. Starter clutch needed to be upgraded. Lately it has been cutting out, turns out a magnet came loose on the alternator, the dealer is updating it to the 2024 alternator and side cover, under warrantee.
My pan American is great. Only bad part was that two weeks after I got the bike. Someone hit me on the freeway. Bike was down my few weeks. I was ok. Stay safe out there.
I know what you mean about the different ride. I have an ultra limited and a Yamaha fjr 1300. Switching back and forth between the two is night and day.
@@KickstandsUp909 I enjoyed it thank you! I have a lot of 1970s speedway riders on my channel and stuff like that! I've been racing speedway since age 16, a long time ago!!!! 😅
Nice event!! Love the crowd, kids are awesome. Great day for families to hang out. Note: loved the Russ Brown welcome sign…..motorcycle injury attorney 😂
Good stuff! Victorville used to have those also back in the early 90s it was pretty big, VV is a small track also. They would race same day as my uncle.
@KickstandsUp909 well your bike looks pretty close to the ones on the track. Get it done man! I'll come watch you. I mean your cut is leather and you have a helmet. 😂
The issue is not the feet, it's the surface you've put the tent on... and that is why you have a separate groundsheet for protection. If the groundsheet gets torn up, you simply replace that. As for the pegs, it's not about brute force... If the ground is that hard you need to change the spot you're trying to put them in to, not force them.
If I were you I would not mount the gopro to the crash bar. One drop and you've lost a lot of $$$. I am kinda on the same fence with my '14 Ultra Classic, with 72K on it. Thinking a lighter bike. Am a bit older than you at 71, so not sure I want to pay for a new one, but the '24 Specials are cheaper than they used to be. Go figure. Congrats on the "new to you" bike. I love the PA.
Get yourself an awning kit for it, or maybe even two or three. So good when it is raining or cooking sun to sit in the vestibule and still be able to look around.
I was at a bike weekend last week and there was one Lone Rider tent there. It looked stupid amongst the other tents there towering above the assorted other tents. It looked like a nightmare to put up single handed. The owner later said that he was looking for something more suitable for his trip to Norway later in the year. It’s a great example of the power of RU-vid advertising. Lone Rider gave a lot of high profile influencers this tent and it very quickly became seen as the preferred choice by the experts. This is so far from the truth. If you really want a Lone Rider tent buy the small one, it is far more fit for purpose but beware, even that one is overpriced there are better tents out there for less. If you are one of those motorcyclists who has to have the correct badge on everything buy Lone Rider. If not buy something cheaper and better.
Lone Rider just had a competion, look it up here on RU-vid. Who could set up a MotoTent quickest. Single handed, of course. The winners clocked in at 2:41, 2:56 and 3:20. I have no rush, so i typically do it in 8 to 10 minutes. And if i do it in rain, the inside is bone dry. Not a nightmare at all. I have both the MotoTent and the ADVtent. I typically use the large one when i stay in one place for days, and the smaller one where i move about. I lived in the MotoTent for three months traveling around USA. If i had not had the luxury of space, especially height, i would have stayed in more hotels. I even took the bike indoors for an oil change at a fancy camp ground. Who cares if it stands out on the camp ground.
I couldn’t book it on line. But there was a lot spots available. Also take your friends. You can have 5 or 6 people at that spot. The bike event is every other year. It’s a kickass weekend. Bring your dollars 💵
You should have kept your Street Glide, the best of both worlds that way. Plus, giving your SG a break by riding your PA would help your SG last many more years
