Nestled on the Coral Gables Campus of the University of Miami, is the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.The Hall of Fame Committee is a 501c3 corporation whose sole purpose is to recognize those student athletes, coaches and administrators who have contributed the most to Hurricane Athletics over the years. It places on record forever the names and achievements of the men and women who have brought National and International acclaim to their University through athletics and who, after graduation, have gone on to bring further credit to their school, their communities and themselves by the manner in which they have assumed their responsibilities as citizens. The Sports Hall of Fame, although affiliated with the University of Miami, is an independent Non-Profit Organization surviving on contributions and fund raising events such as it's Annual Golf Classic.
I used to go lounging at the UM Student Union pool with my Organic Chemistry book and pretend to be studying while watching Greg Louganis practice diving off the 10 m platform. His grace, confidence and humility were apparent from a distance. Thank you for everything, Greg!
Everyone always leaves Daryl Williams out when speaking about great defensive backs to come out of Miami. However, I would put him right up there with the Ed Reed’s and Sean Taylor’s of the world.
One of the first games where modern passing in college started neutralizing the better athletes and started leveling the playing field. Miami’s modern passing changed college football and the traditional powers could no longer “out athlete” opponents.
His parents were friends of our family and his Mom got me autographed cards, a signed Detroit Tigers team baseball and a Cincinnati Reds yearbook. I cureently have one of the largest Wayne Krenchicki Baseball card collections out there.
The touchdown called back was against Texas and not Mississippi State University. They/Miami lost to Mississippi State by 4 points 👉 👈 👇 😢 😑 😕 and to Texas by a touchdown 6/7 points 👉 👈 👇 👏 😳 🙌.

1981 cane's team was our first power team. This squad went 9wins and 2losses. Miami lost to texas and miss st by less than 1 score. The miss st loss was highway robbery by the refs as a late winning td by mark rush was called back on a phantom call. With miami on ncaa probation, the notre dame game was like our bowl game. On an early december,1981 hot and humid afternoon game, the miami hurricanes reintroduced themseves to the american football public. That team was superbly conditioned, fast and athletic with a sophisticated passing attack that ran rings around the irish. Mind you, this is just a few years after notre dame inflicted humiliating, physical beatdowns on miami. Well we turned the tables on them (37-15), and it was notre dame that crawled off the orange bowl field that day. As i look back on hurricanes football during the glory years, that first win against notre dame was particularly sweet, because it was against notre dame and it sent a powerful message about the future of college football.
