I am smokescreenXII. I play co-op games with my brother, Sirius104.
We have been co-oping as many games as we could get our hands on since the early 90s. We tend to critique the games we play, analyzing the game design and comparing it to the past two decades of video games. There will also be complaining and yelling, sometimes at the game, but mostly at each other.
I mean back then the music quality was so low with midi, not even Metallica could sue them, and they sue everything and everyone they can! (napster). Or maybe they actually just liked Doom enough not to do it. Check out this playlist of the music that inspired the Doom sountrack: ru-vid.com/group/PLb6bxboOa_1di1SPu8CqFB5_hZCxy601C
It's crazy, I actually could not remember if the original Doom had a dot for a crosshair or not. But looking it up, it didn't have anything. Only the gun being centered on screen, whereas modern games have it offset to the side, making a crosshair more necessary. I personally (this is Sirius) don't mind a single pixel dot crosshair in any game. It's very minimal. That's generally the type I'd use in a 90s shooter remake or retro FPS. Or a very, very small cross type. It doesn't throw off the immersion for me until we get these large crosshairs in modern games where they even have effects, coloring, and indications of player health or enemy kills happening off screen. That's where the crosshair has become it's own game lol.
@@siriuscoop appreciate the thoughtful reply! When I first started the new version I was looking at the screen thinking "something's not right here" - spent 5m messing about on the menu trying to find the crosshair on/off button. There isn't one! You have to go to the crosshair fade section and scroll the bar down to minimal, and it disappears. It probably won't matter to most people but I get quite OCD with small things like this and had to turn it off haha. Modern remakes tend to do stuff like this, I guess they're considered QoL improvements but I prefer the original look. I subbed to your channel when I made the original comment so I'll check out some more vids soon. Cheers.
this was decently fun to watch. some suggestions: - switch between the screens every once in a while to show interesting moments - improve the audio quality - you could make the title simpler and more elegant like "Ultimate Doom - E1M7 Co-op with Fast Monsters"
1) its all live recorded, since no time to edit videos, intro/outro triggered live. and sirius cam streams through discord and kind of trash due to compression. but it is a good idea! 2) sirius mic?? audio quality supa top toppest audio qualities on youtubes, sir 3) I prefer this way
Ah, damn! Was his name Stig Eldred? Sorry. I don't like when games throw monologues at you, especially if they are long. That part won't change. But I still should not have said that I hope he dies or that I hate him. It wasn't his fault that game studios choose to do this annoying thing, and he was just doing his job. I wish that he did not talk so slowly that I get impatient with his monologues, but he did not deserve death for this, and I know many people actually loved his monologues. In general, I should not hope that people die, but in that moment I hoped that everyone dies and that cancer fills the entire world until everyone is suffering. I was in a super grumpy mood and lashing out because our own mother just died 2 weeks prior to recording this video (in june). Will try to be better from now on. Probably will fail, but will try to be more considerate.
Thank you! It did sound like Hulshult, didn't it. Sirius will get a spanking now, because he read the wiki incorrectly. It does indeed say on there that Ash Mill's song is "Opening to Hell" by Robert Prince, and sounds remastered AF.
I played some dark souls in the past (mostly 1, some 2 and 3) and I tried to convince Sirius to play it. I even bought him 2+3, but, he never played--just sitting in his library. so I am glad Elden Ring can be played in proper coop with this mod, and that finally convinced him to try it. it is a lot of fun!
ooooh! ok maybe we use this. but we already recorded a few videos that still need to be uploaded, so we will seem confused or unaware of your tip, hehe.
Warmane's main realm, Icecrown has 10k currently (an off time right now), and sometimes hits the 20k limit. the progression realm that we play on, that will change from Vanilla-->TBC-->WotLK, is called Onyxia, is more like 3-5k players. I think it does not use the phasing stuff, so it feels quite active. especially Icecrown had hundreds of people running around between Goldshire and Stormwind
can they just bring back wotlk classic, ffs. that is what I would prefer too. but we started too late, cataclysm hit before sirius even hit level 20. now there is no going back! they should make a WotLK era, and perma leave it on that. but blizzard is run by unbelievably stupid people now, so that will never happen. wow classic is now basically either vanilla era, or cataclysm which is just retail v2.
sometimes cutscenes/dialogues can get you stuck and one player has to force quit out. some issues with summoning the ashes. and later we encounter a super weird error where a stone chariot dude is off the track and falls off the track, and even one time he went off track and crushed me in the hiding spot where he is not supposed to go. lol. will have a video on that soon.
Most bugs I've encountered are all to do with when one of the two players sits at a fireplace. Stuff like: often not seeing your buddies horses or walking animation is common. Most annoying otherwise the lack of seeing entire enemies that are attacking you/your friend, or the lack of elevators. On top of this sometimes there are bugs where you travel or sit on a grace and one of you can't get up - getting hit by an enemy tho seems to work, but whilst sitting you cant open menu or nothing.
oh ya! we did encounter those. horse not visible until get off and back on. or those spirit ghost dudes in underground river area not visible to one player but still damaging them. getting stuck at campfire with no buttons working also. If it happens to guest then host can disconnect and they will dump to menu, but when it happens to host have to alt+f4. if they just made coop like this NORMAL (!!!), like made officially by From Software, and someone wouldn't have to make a mod just to have regular coop, then none of this shit would happen.
is this something a noob can play? like i know warcraft cause i grew up with it, but not wow. i know all the spells and sht are the same. but can we raid and do pve stuff here?
absolutely! Vanilla WoW was one of the best examples of a game progressing the player through its systems. I think probably one of the main games they use to teach classes on how to make good game progression that slowly opens up to the player like... an onion. We should actually be into 5-player dungeons by now, since those start around level 10ish. The early dungeons are also super simple and forgiving, to teach you the ropes. Eventually you work your way up into raiding with 40 players, but it requires joining a guild to have those player counts. You can still do pick up group raids, like fill empty spots on a guild's run, but better to just join a guild that does raids on a schedule and they help to train you and teach you (at least the good guilds do). I can't stand WoW after wrath of the lich king, so I would not recommend retail, or even Classic WoW since they are onto Cataclysm (basically retail v2). One of the things I hate about them is exactly that they lack proper progression and just throw you right into it as if you already played WoW. Retail is made by people and for people who are bored with playing WoW.
lol, it sure does sound like it from microphone. but it was because I was on a trip and using laptop mic. I blame laptop 100%!! next WOW video is back to my normal mic
well, since it makes finding a group easier? I thought the reason people hated it was because of the cross server grouping, but that doesn't work on this private server. I don't mind using the chat to find a group though. I have actually never really used dungeon finder, because I would just use the chat even after it was added. I just assumed it was a bonus, but Im ignorant! You tell me why it sucks please. I dont know!!! I didnt know!!!!!
ya, it has advanced scripting which is supposed to teleport the player between parts or something. That kind of stuff never works in a network/coop game, especially not on respawns. It is scripted only to do it one time and to the first player only. So that is why the first time it teleported one of us to that bloody tunnel, but never again after that. In single player version if someone dies, they just load the game, so then it is still effectively like a single playthrough even if they load 100 times.
I apologize. we have limited budget. star cant appear in every video. but dont worry they will make appearance in pivotal episodes, mid season special, and season finale.
ya, you can basically get infinite revives with coop. must be different with just 5 medkits that don't even fill health fully and all focus on you entire time
@@siriuscoop I just ended my first elder nest... And man, I had to get pretty strong and calculate my power usage. It was so damn good. You should try yourself one day.
Warmane, on the Icecrown WotLK realm. But we switch to Onyxia realm next video, which is a Vanilla-->TBC-->WotLK progression server currently still on Vanilla.
Warmane Icecrown server which is a 7x experience WotLK server. We actually switch to the Warmane Onyxia server next video, with 3x experience gain. Onyxia is a hybrid progression server that will go from Vanilla-->TBC-->WotLK using the same WotLK 3.3.5 client for all 3 expansions. Currently it is on Vanilla right after Ahn'Qiraj opens. You can actually dial back the exp multiplier by right clicking the exp bar, so you could do less than 7x even on Icecrown, but I think the progression through TBC is cool since I never played TBC when it was the current expansion back in the day. I played vanilla and then later WotLK and missed out on TBC. Icecrown seems to have the most active players however.
Ah, yeaaa, living vicariously through Sirius's 20 year delayed fresh experience. It took me 20 years to convince him to play it. It is nice how the game's art style makes it look good even today.
hehe! this was Grobbulus RolePlaying-PVP server. But, actually, we are going to be switching in the next few videos to a private server, after Grobbulus changes over to Cataclysm. We already recorded the videos, and they are in the upload queue
you can absolutely leave it there and go pick up the stuff later. The main thing is to make sure it is sheltered, like in a cave, otherwise it will take damage over time and that is what will cause it to despawn. Also with like a wooden house, will eventually be destroyed by storms if you arent around to repair it. This is why we wanted to get to concrete stuff, so can make little outposts from concrete. But ya, cave works great!
oh man you skipped all the building, dam it lol can u upload the building footage or maybe u didnt record it because of fps? i understand if you didnt!! Ive been enjoying your play through! A little negative about the game but it is funny though! I do like watching you guys the elon comment was priceless!! What processor are u running? or maybe post your system so we can know what to exspect if we want to buy the game. Thanks Rush
didnt record it because thought it would be boring, lol. And also wanted to save time, like skip forward the progression faster. Well, we will switch to red planet soon and need to rebuild entire base. We will respec our skill trees and this time I will make Sirius do all the building (usually he does that) and then will be recorded since usually we record anything he does. Sirius has an ancient potato, CPU like 12 years old, and RTX 2060. He didnt want to pay the extra 50 bucks to get the Super (big mistake!). I have a 6700k i7, which is now already several generations old, like 7 years old? and I do have the 2060 super. I think this year will be time to get a brand new PCs. So its really our own damn fault, not the game's fault for running like crap. BTW... Sirius still uses an IDE drive for his C: drive... because he is too lazy to install his solid state that he bought years ago. Now that is unforgivable!!!!
