What concerns me about non competes is when companies like KFC and McDonalds require low level employees to sign onerous non competes preventing them from working for a competing company. This forces people to stay in current positions and prevents them from ever working anywhere else. Employers can keep wages low knowing the employee has no option to go elsewhere. Happened to a friends 16 year old who started working at a local mall for a pizza place and when they were offered a different job at the mall for a completely different field they were prevented by the agreement which stated they could not compete within a certain distance. Whether that is legal or not is irrelevant in this case. No one is going to file a lawsuit for a 16 year old p/t employee and sue a large company over a first job employment contract in this sort of situation. Switching from flipping burgers to selling clothes should be possible for a teenager to try new jobs out. Saying no and preventing any role at the mall because you want to keep the employee is not fair!
Microsoft nor anyone will ever be able to stop people from using A.I. maliciously no matter how many guard rails they implement. It will be a cat and mouse game until the end of time.
least of their problems. they need a class action suit to start again activating fully paid retail office stand alone installers. no where on the box did office 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010 say 'only good for use for xxx years, or until MicroCr*p decides you cant use it'. which is an unfair and unethical business practice. its basically a form of theft of money. the current lawsuit of adobe is a good first step. MS needs to be next.

What stops random groups who don't care about rules or laws from simply bulk collecting data anyways? Are there any real world consequences to just ignoring these companies policies? If a foreign adversary or threat actor wanted to do it I can't imagine stopping them from accessing a public website and just crawling it.
I wish companies were required to separate important security fixes from "we want to change things" activity. Like maybe don't put out critical bug fixes in the same patch which adds more advertising to your OS, or removing services that some people are in fact using because the company decided they have some new improved (and not-quite-compatible) replacement for that service. I realize this makes life more complicated for companies, and I'm afraid I don't much care. I'm really tired of being force-fed a few megabytes of changes with the threat that *your* computer might be compromised because of *their* bugs, and therefore you *must* accept even more software from them.

It definitely draws from some fairly obvious influences, in my opinion, from some fairly basic genre inputs. For kicks, I prompted Udio to build a 3+ minute long 80s thrash metal song about chronic constipation. There were parts that sounded like direct rip-offs of both Anthrax and Judas Priest.
Obscurest Vinyl does it right, its not intending to pass as serious music. I was rocking that all last week and it was great blasting "I Glued" and other hits on my Bluetooth speaker riding my bike through the park, so many second takes from innocent passersby XD. I'm preemptively perturbed for when people/ the industry start releasing AI music as serious art and public being completely fine with that.
I've created some pretty interesting stuff with Udio, and agree with the observations made about vocal 'babbling' occurring here and there, and the increasing difficulty, the longer you try to make a song. Having said that though, it's far too addictive, and I'd describe it as a kind of "choose your own adventure" song creation game. If anyone cares, check out my track 'Spice Believers (Gochugang mix)'. I spent a couple hours dialing it in. The AI generated about 85-90% of the lyrics, with me nudging it in a couple spots...
They're absolutely going to get sued, but it'll take a big name like Taylor swift or Metallica to really get some kind of legislation going. In the meantime, the damage is being done. We are always way too slow to react to new technologies and we pay the price. The irony is that if everyone stopped making original music and only AI generated was made anymore, it would eventually become fully monotonous because it wouldn't have any new sources to draw from. Then people would complain, whereas right now they're complaining that no one makes good new music any more. It's all about perspective. We often don't appreciate the things we take for granted and many people don't realize how much they take original art for granted.
They already have it though.... they left us vulnerable and allowed us to get digitally violated by allowing data brokers to operate at all. They should have all been shut down the same month they opened their doors. #DownWithDataBrokers
