My parents gave me a slot car set for Christmas one year. I have loved slot cars ever since. Most of the slot cars here are HObscale from AURORA & TOMY AFX, Tyco, Wizzard & some others. Please like, comment and subscribe.
I have two of these from watching your video a year ago and i love this car it looks good and is one of the fav of my friends who vome over and hangout and race in my slot car layout. And yes all my afx mega g plus cars the detail is next to none and amazing and clear with magnifying glass
I bought this set off ebay, it was missing the cars, and a few pieces... I bought all the cars, and a bunch of older cars, from my childhood. Tonight, I bought a POLICE CAR! With Christmas right around the corner, A Police car on the track slowly pursuing another car, serves as a reminder, to stay safe, stay sober, stay out of jail! Brisket, rib eyes, beef ribs; my type of Holiday meal!!! Blessings to all, and keep the throttle down!!!!
Wow so Nice Of him to do , I'll bet you would never in a million years think he would gift them to you congrats Very very Nice ... That is Vey very Nice Still great Human beings in our society
The sets are still targeted at kids, so toy quality and small size. I've said numerous times to the Racemasters folks that they really ought to provide controllers that are similar quality to the track, cars, and power units, and I'm sure plenty of other folks have done the same...oh well. And the need for 120-ohm controllers to run the mega g+ is annoying...have to either use the poor set controllers or buy another batch of hobby-level controllers. Or buy a set of electronic units, but then 4 of those will set you back ~$400. Thanks to Uncle Sam and the increasingly draconian "safety" regs.
The rails are ‘held down’ at the opening you can see on the underside of the track piece. Check there first. Then go to Walymart and buy the super cheap fine sanding blocks. Run then down ALL FOUR RAILS to clean them up.
What ! They should have ! DONE ! WAS ! Make it ! ( Like a Normal Mechanic ! ) Applys AXLE GREASE ! to a Car ! ) Use the same GREASE ! WITH THIS ! TO THE GEARS ! ( Just my point of view )
When TYCO / KENBRITE ! Had there Shoe Replacement ! ( HP- 2 ) They ALWAYS ! supplied a simple instruction Leaflet ! On EVERY SHOE ! You bought NEW ! Doesn't TOLLTOYS ! ( MAGNUM 440 AND 440 - 2 / HP-7 ) Do the Same !?? With there's !
Thank you for your channel and hope you finish your layout with additional videos showing the complete wiring. I am working on my two lane project and would love to see an informative wiring video.
Did you make any more videos on this build? I like the way you started to setup the wiring and was hoping to see how you built out the drivers stations. Just starting in a table build for the first time… its always tough to get started, but I also get I just need to start :)
Great message. I am working on a two-lane track with a similar power source and will need to have additional power taps on the AFX track. Really hope you could add to this with both driver station and soldering the wires to the track information. Thanks.
I have 2 of the blue and white Minolta and 2 of the red and white Denso Toyota's. One of the blue ones like your have yellowed white paint but the others are like new. Like many of us retired guys I took my sealed box off a garage shelf that was under a sealed box of HO train sets and have been cleaning and repairing them but have kept all the original parts of course. My chassis are different than the one you displayed. They have Aurora Tomy AFX on the chassis but look more like Viper V Spec which I have recently purchased several because they are so fast. On 2 of the cars the rear tires where rotted and only one pickup shoe had worn a hole in it. I cleaned and tuned them up and they all run really well. It is nice to see people are having a renewed interest in this fun hobby again. I set up a pretty large track but kept it fairly simple with no crossovers but have several banked turns and three long straights approximately 16 feet by 4 feet and just 2 lanes which made it easier to maintain. I bought another AFX set with the 4 Indy cars along with all kinds of tires, tune up kits AFX collector series Alfa Romeo Indy, Ford GT, Camaro and C-8 Corvette Cars. Needless to say I am having a blast with my Friends and Grandchildren. It also uses up some of my spare time since I am happily retired and am hooked again just like I was as a kid. I have taken quite a few pictures of the original Thunder loop sets. I have had the two sets for decades shrink wrapped in the garage ......
I'm looking at controllers like what you have there on ebay and some have screws holding the two halves together and some do not. They look the same and same color. Some are being called Russkit Hand Controller. Do the controllers you have there have screws holding them together ?. Are they Russkit controllers ?. Thanks! for any feedback...
Question why is it that on my afx track that came with two mega g plus cars runs the mega g olus fast and oerfect with stcok controllers and everything but when i try to run say some different brands of slot cars or types in ho scale they run super slow
Thank you for the fun channel and I hope that you post more great videos in 2024. I received my first AFX set back in 1977 on Christmas and still have some original cars. I run the BSRT 905 chassis now that allows most AFX bodies to snap right on. For the smaller tracks, they are too fast but quite fun. When the reproduction T Dash chassis came out about 10 years ago with the thin original tires, I put some together with those reproduction muscle car bodies, and that’s a lot of fun watching them slide on the track without the aid of traction magnets. Thank you!
Would bad shoes cause the slot car not to work. When, I pushe down on the slot car on the track it makes noise like it wants to go but when i dont hold down the car nothing. Any ideas on what is cause on the car not running on track. Thanks
Im thinking of adding a hinge mechanism to a concept like this so that it could easily be folded up and stored vertically flush with the wall. when in use, it lays flat with drop down legs. thoughts on that? watch outs? any builds?
A lot of videos tell you AW gears are terrible... usually have to replace... I think it was Terry on Harden creek that said the cars sounded like they were grinding corn!
Question about the wheel puller before I place an order, hopefully someone could clarify 😊. After securing the pin to the rim of the wheel hub, will the pulling action cause the pin to damage or ding the rim? I'd imagine some amount of force required to pull out the hub, I think.
I like the idea of the double spring for each shoe makes a lot sense so it keeps the shoe even .. I have not tried two springs yet it painstaking enough to do one spring as you said lol ... Thanks
So I got my 12 yo son an AFX international 4 lane for Xmas…one the box..set it up set the power on medium power (18v) and the about 1/3 of the track did not stay together…the rails…at least 4 rails didn’t sit properly…thank god we belong to a HO club and we do have the knowledge to repair or replace but the average Joe (who this set was intended) would have no clue…so it would go back in the box and sit in the back of the closet forever..Tomy/AFX has to step up their game in quality control…Autoworld has some issues to but not nearly as many out of the box…food for thought..
Porq no n me contestan lo q les pregunto,q cuanto cuestan los juegos de llantas, los piñones las coronas y los juegid de zapatas, soy de aguascalientes ags.México,gracias.
You got the deal of a lifetime as far as slot car stuff goes. Use what you have first that will tell how much bigger to go. Track clips can be a big help on the larger layouts. Remember you have to keep the rails clean also the pavement. Your in for years of fun. The new wireless controls are a godsend in my opinion. You can reach wrecks with controller in hand. No pulling the track up. No wires dangling. Hope to check back and see what you did next.
I'm very new to the hobby as I found my childhood's TYCO track with two F1 cars, they are 440's with one big grip magnet. They are fast but...How this can be so fast without losing grip at the corners!!!!
