Valhalla Wrestling Club has produced and helped develop numerous State Champions, State Placers, State Qualifiers, Collegiate Wrestlers, among others throughout our history.
Our #1 priority is always to give our athletes the opportunities and resources they need to be successful as well as to ultimately help the growth and development of the sport in South Carolina.
In 2023, we joined with Jeff Estrada’s club, Sons of Thunder/Daughters of Zion, and thus we became Valhalla SOT.
It was! While touch-falls used to be the rule, in Freestyle and Greco a fall is confirmed once both shoulders have touched and been “pressed” into the mat now. While it can be subjective, at events such as this with 3-man referee mechanics, all 3 officials confirmed the fall. quick edit: Often times once the official officially slaps the mat/blows the whistle, the fall would have already been confirmed prior. So it’s not uncommon to see a referee call a fall in Freestyle/Greco after the wrestler has managed to fight back off of their back/get a shoulder back up.
Seen this mat official two matches in a row now and he is completely clueless on how to score a match. He's called two touches without ever actually seeing them because he is so badly out of position. Yikes.
