Thanks for your more detailed descriptions. I’m trying to decide what sequencer keyboard workstation to buy and have narrowed it down to the nautilus or k2700. While both are lighter weight and have the weighted keys, korg is easier to learn and work on the fly, but kurzweil has more options and possibly more memory. It’s harder to understand, being so much more cumbersome, and even the tutorials appear to be AI taught - very hard to understand. You said, “there’s no ‘save’ button” at one point then proceed to tell us to press “save”, so even your clear description sounds complicated. I assume the word save appears later in the process? I’m really trying to find a way to talk myself into this one but just can’t find the way.
You can have multiple FM layers in a single program and you can have multiple FM programs in a Multi. How many, I'm not sure. I do believe there is a limit (I'm thinking 4 for some reason.)
From the manual "Each VAST layer uses one of the 256 voices of the K2700 (two voices for stereo samples). Each FM layer uses 4 voices." So, in a program, you could have up to 8 FM layers. You could then layer those with other programs in a multi. So, quite a few options for mixing FM, sample based, VA and KB3 at the same time. Very powerful!
I just got one of these and for the life of me can't figure out how to get the Leslie to speed up when I hit the foot pedal and stay that way. It seems to be set to "momentary" instead of latch when you press the pedal. Any ideas on how to change the leslie speed using the pedal so that when you press the pedal it stays on fast, and then when you hit the pedal again, it goes to slow?
I would think so. The K2700 can use other waveforms besides sine wave, like the DX11. The DX11 is also multi-timbral, which is easy to do on the K2700.
@@albeckwall Thanks, I had a bad experience with Yamaha Montage and Modx and never got the DX11 or Yamaha V50 sound because everything was always converted to DX7 sine waveform

Hi ! Is it possible to create a custom velocity curve ? None of them makes me happy. Hard2 is too hard for piano sounds, light1 is too light for rhodes sounds (it barks directly). Is it possible to assign the velocity curve for each program ? Because in the video it's in multi mode. Thank you in advance. Other question, do you know how to assign velocity to filter cutoff ?
Fantastic. I worked at a music school where someone actually donated a DX7 with the expansion packs. I never understood what the hell I was looking at with all those square diagrams on the face of the instrument, but your explanation made it clear as day. This seems so much easier to program than that classic board. I’ve been torn between getting either a Roland Fantom or the K2700 and every day I seem to be leaning more towards the latter. I’m looking forward to the rest of these vids.
Thank you so much for this video man!!! I am using PC3 since years , and am about to upgrade to k2700 now. On a PC3, this feature is quite easy - you have a physical button called QAccess ( next to Program and Setup ( which is now Multi )) - that's it. Strange how and why they spared such an obvious option on k2700.... One another question - those pads on the right side, normally used for the drum parts - the manual says they are assignable. Can one re-program them to switch the programs/multis within the QA bank?...Thank you!
The pads can be configured to do a multitude of things, like notes, chords, MIDI commands, but I don't see an obvious way to use those for program or multi changes/selection. My biggest gripe with the QA banks is that it is hard to see the details on the screen when in QA view mode. The assignment names are so small. For more complex gigs, I use Camelot on the iPad to manage changes (the only downside is, you have to live in Program OR Multi mode, as there is no MIDI command to switch between the two. So, I use multi mode and have created multis with single programs in them, if needed.
Agreed. Def not the right sound. I had been playing around with creating a typical 80s clean chorus guitar and just ended up using that instead of something that would have been closer to the original.
It's always interesting what songs make people think of, this one always makes me think of the big wooden staircase going from my school's pool to the main building
@@yungkmartnffc I think this is the coolest thing About music as art, it’s totally up to listener to create their own pictures and internal landscapes and is totally subjective.
@@EllissDee4you4me Yeah, what do you think of when you listen to pyramid song? For me it's driving through rainy Baltimore in the morning after just coming off the highway
thanks for the video. Does anyone know how to control de "quick view" mode from an external MIDI controller pedal?. I want to be able to switch between programs 1-10 of the quick view from the MIDI controller pedal (i.e. I have a quick view for each song, and i want to change the different programs for that song by pressing the pedal. That way when I change the setlist i dont have to reprogram the pedal, and just have to move the Quick View set). Thanks!
Is there a way to lower the release of the sounds when making your sound. I'm new to kurzweil have the pc4 trying to learn this thing very very well and deeply.. trying to make a much thicker sound of my mks20 ep2 or sample my sounds into the board
I'm leaning towards this board for song creation and was hoping the onboard sequencer was decent. There is no local dealer for me to try it. Do you think it is adequate for creating songs on board or do I need to look elsewhere? Some say the Phantom 8 is a good unit for onboard sequencing.
