The CALI DEATH PODCAST is hosted by Anthony Trapani (Odious Mortem/Severed Savior), Joel Horner and KC Howard (Odious Mortem/Decrepit Birth) and Josef Kay (To Violently Vomit/Transcend the Realm). We’re bringing you long-form discussions and interviews with legends and contemporaries of Death Metal and its encompassing musical sphere.
I feel really bad that Michael's gift is so closely related to late nights and shady acquaintances. You have to be on another level to be able to perform and live that lifestyle without partying at all. I think that back when The Faceless was at apex, there was no way around the house party, tour bus, gritty DIY metal lifestyle. I think that anything to do with music or art and gatherings there will be some darkness attracted to it, it's inevitable. Just one wrong line and all of a sudden you are done. The music is always secondary once the drugs take hold.
I heard Zach when the Miasma album first dropped and I was only 15 years old at the time. I had just discovered TBDM months earlier and became obsessed with death metal. Zach was only 19 years old when he recorded Miasma and all I ever wanted was to be that good when I turned 19. I was insatiably infatuated with the double bass but when I heard Zach’s style, he was all I wanted to be as a death metal drummer! I’ve never stopped practicing and til this day Miasma is my all time favorite. You the man Zach!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻please keep making more metal 🤘🏻
Virulent Depravity is the only band I've ever heard that correctly captures the essence that originated from Spawn of Possession. People should check them out!

I can't believe this is 3 years old. Mike looks INSANELY young. Am I the only one who 'actually' didnt recognize of him because of his age? He looks different, too. Very, very healthy, mid 30 y/o dude.. good for him, I'm just fking shocked. Edit: as an example, Keane fans (especially guitar fans) certainly remember when he was showcasing a bit of Planetary at NAMM 2009? That was literally 15 years ago. He looks younger today. Not hyperbolically. Quite literally. I can't believe what I'm seeing wtf
56:41 Funny Danny says this because I am singing along to the new album, Binary Paradigm, Purity of Purpose and Biological Absurdity has got some sing a long parts to em.
HUUUGEEE shout-out to Dean for having an excellent audio set up. I normally can't listen to the podcast because someone obviously smokes too much and speaks like snail but also because the guests usually don't give a shit about buying a decent mic. Still massive respect to the CDP for inviting amazing artists.
Loved the history of his Paracidic Septicity band originated. Proudness if you my son, kept it going. Hello to the professor and the two hosts of the podcast. Thank you!!!👏👏👏
Good stuff. Discontinued is so gnarly and I've been playing it a lot since it came out. The mix/tones on this one are top tier too. Try and get the Wormed fellows on. Omegon is another awesome album and I'd like to hear their takes on music and writing and all that. Another great ep guys. Swigging some Battleforged as I write this
I Have a favorite black metal album of the past 5 years. And its ancient glacial resurgence. So is this fella the legendary iceSICKkill? How can we not fall in love with such bleak, frigid cheese. Makes me sad this comment section is a petrified cadaverous wasteland
