So Autodesk acquire Softimage Xsi kill it and bring all its power feature slowly to Maya as new feature over many years and still cannot do what Softimage Xsi do in 2015. Great job Autodesk

Snapping is worse , modeling tools are worse - boole is garbage in general - Edge Slide horrible tool not understanding topology / in blender this feature works as needed. - new symmetry breaks UV when you turn on weld , even the banal mirrored sides have errors in polygons... - UV editor doesn't work with UDIM and just doesn't have tools / blender can - there is no modern toolkit for baking a map, to bake one UV set onto another UV set / blender can - the nodes are very slow and only present a pathetic copy of the blender nodes look - there is no modern particle system , TP has been garbage since the first day it was created so even 3Dmax users don't use it. / blender geometry nodes completely closes the issue of particles , hair and any other simulations and custom settings. And there are not a hundred other things that users ask for. C4D is software to inflate balloons and deflate our wallets . C4D looks like a homemade copy of a blender.
According to youtubers. 😆 According to movie production studios and serious artists, Maya, Houdini and 3dsmax are far better (for now). Although Blender have nicer features lately, that will certainly attract big studios in the future. That's the magic of open source, not big corporations.
I dont know why u guys keep comparing Maya with Blender. Yes they both 3d software but their target audience are completely different. If u just want to work alone, just for personal project then definitely go for blender n just skip this video. But if you work with different companies. Transfering your animation to fx company for example. It is very efficient to use USD. Because the reality is. Houdini is what they use to create fx. I tried both software n i can assure you they both have different purpose. That is why updates in Blender, they focus on new features (even those fearutes already exists in other software). But update in Maya they more focus to make the software work well n efficient with different software because Maya is not trying to be different software like Blender. But Maya recognise those different software, n trying to make Maya work well n efficient across other softwares
So dont expect maya to add new features for sculpting because we have zbrush for that. dont expect maya to add new features for fx because we already have houdini. Dont expect maya to add more features for cloth simulation because we have marvelous designer. Maya focus and still remain one of the best 3d animation software that can work well and efficient across other softwares.
Blender users are just toxic for no reason, Lot of them never touched the software and act like they know everything in it, and start comparing. If got stuck in it, they will name few addons and for some reason they will say blender is better, without even using maya at once.
Another advertisement of Autodesk. Nothing substantial just the same old broken modules with icing on top What professional tool make video for minimal things? All of this should be in some buried minor update log.. not everywhere in YT
Actually autodesk didnt officially announce maya 2024 in youtube. Only youtuber announcing. I never know it until some crack website advertising it a few days after its release
It always had grease pencil. It was there to block or plan out a scene. And it did the job. So Autodesk never gave a damn about it. The update though. They are going full on character animation and that's good but other than that it's barely anything.

@@feizai245 The modeling in maya is literal garbage compared to Blender's modifier workflow. The only edge Maya has is the rigging & animation. Pretty much everything in Blender is better than in Maya. It has better interactivity. Geometry nodes is better than Bifrost. Sculpting is better than Maya. FX is abdominal in maya, barely anything looks good, Blender hasn't had any update in that department for years and the results still looks far better, and that's the next goal for them. For layout and look dev, Maya doesn't even come close to the interactivity and speed of Blender. For rendering, the guy who made cycles used to work for Arnold before and cycles are pretty much better in every way and way faster. Blender is free and open source and with every 5 updates to maya Blender comes out with 25 updates, if they were the same price then Blender would be completely untouchable when it comes to development and features. The only reason most Blender users come to check out maya release is to only laugh and see how much Autodesk has copied Blender's tools and workflow and how far it's behind to catch up with Blender lmao. Keep working in your sweatshop with your outdated industry-standard junkware.
I'm in the films and games industry for 5 plus years now. There is a reason we use Maya and blender. Blender is jack of all master of none. still needs much more to improve concentrating on specific aspects if it needs to surpass maya. I rely 80 percent on Houdini, 15 percent on maya and 5 percent on blender (only if some plugins of blender makes life easier than being in houdini or maya) for all my 3d needs. The fact that blender can do everything does not mean it is good at doing it. I love how blender pushes other software to improve.
