That Camillus "Scout Knife" as you call it has a long and great history. The first one was made in 1957 and they were made every year (except 1962 officially) until 2006 when Camillus ceased operations and closed down. In 1961, the War Dept. / DoD did not renew the contract for 1962 production but, being a manufacturer Camillus started production each year in the fall of the previous model year so when they got the news, they had already mand numerous ones with the 1962 year. Those are selling for amounts in the high $100's some as high as $600.00 in good condition. The most collectables are 1957, 1962 and the final year, 2006.
Call me weird, but the only thing id change is getting rid of the matchstrike nailnicks on certain models. Like a folding hunter and the fish knife. Trying to clean bodily substances out of the tiny grooves if you use them for their intended purposes sucks.
Sad I have 1989 un box wrapped in Ceramic plastic says nineteen eighty nine on it. ontario us on blade and on the Knife holder has military stickers on and number on it to the The number is scribed on the blade Reverse side soldier number 1989 and like new light used sharp to and at point on other side of point real sharp.
I usually keep a trapper knife or a stockman, 1 of them flip open tactical knives, and a utility knife. Sometimes i sub out the flip out 1 for a fixed 3 1/2 inch skinning cleaver. I use different blades for different things
i am blaming biden'nomics. pisses me off. we need to stop farming out all this work. ...but now days it seems ya cant find anyone who knows what it is to actually take pride in what they do for work. so sad.
ive had chrome vanadium that’s very good edge holding but i now have heard that CV is no longer on Case knives so why not? Are their carbon steel blades stamped or etched? Idk but i’ve seen a lot of USA products from global and domestic materials
I just found an old hickory machete. It was rusted and the handle was covered in string and tape. But after I got all that off it’s one of the sharpest knives I have. Didn’t even need to sharpen it.
Your dad's knife is I X L. Say it fast, I excel. Beautiful. Wish I still had my fathers semi-smooth trapper, that grew legs and walked out of my house. Forget the brand, but have searched since the 70's and cant find another
Cool looking mod!... Tobias is correct, the pins have acted as a heat sink or heat exchanger, absorbing heat away from the bone material keeping it from burning. SMKW can call this pattern ..."Match Strike Bone" :)
can anyone tell me why there is on every knive a cap lifter? It is so easy to open a bottle with any rectangelar surface. Its like a specific tool to open a chips bag.
Thanks for bringing these fine ol' knives out for discussion. I own Bucks 300 Series knives from that time period and 2 Stockman pattern 301s made in Post Falls. I wish buck would return to the flat grind seen on the pre-86 production and would again produce the ( 4") Wrangler .
I would love it if you would put the Rough Ryder "Toad sticker/ Mellon tester" White smooth bone, through a test to see how well it will cut up Papaya and cantaloup and other fruit. Smokey Mt. Calls it a TOAD STICKER, Chicago Knife works calls it a Melon tester. No one on you tube is reviewing how well it performs. YOU are definitely the man to make it happen. Love the small Tooth pick. Great Video, Thank you.
Holy Cow Your Back!👍👊💥🍻🐯 this is by far my favorite full size trapper! Also love the mini wharncliffe trappers! Its an amazing combo! Now if they can only do this in a lizard skin id be in heaven!😂
Do you still own your 89OT by chance? I bought an 89OT off eBay about a week ago and noticed today while watching this video that all of the dings and patina marks match up exactly to my 89OT. Might just be a coincidence but it looks to me like I may have your 89OT! 😂
Glad to have you back Mr. B! I was just thinking about this channel the other day and wondering if we would see you again. Looks like you won the case knife fit and finish lottery with this trapper. I strongly agree about the new laser etching vs. the old tang stamps. I haven't bought a Case knife since they started doing that because I was so put off by it. But after seeing this beautiful specimen you might have convinced me to try my luck again
Good to see new stuff from you! I have that same knife and I think it’s awesome. They don’t make many full size trappers with the Wharncliffe blade. Have a great weekend!
Man, that is a killer blade right there and great comparison to the Yellow Delrin to show the differences. That is a killer job they did on those covers!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Glad to see you back! Beautiful trapper! I have one in a smooth red bone, but I’d love to have this bonestag version too! Your bonestag looks great too. Thanks!
Pretty impressive! That Bolt was no doubt cheap china steel - Try that with a 50 year old American hardened steel bolt! Pretty cool & impressive none the less
Very sad situation if i was uber rich and knew this was happening to those people I would of stepped up and made the deal happen 600k drop in the bucket for some people crazy no one donated 😢
Good Video. The Celestial Reminds me of an over head view of an island chain after Nuke Bomb testing. The Tiger bone is Awesome. My Tiger sowbelly stockman arrives tomorrow. Also ordered the Tiny Tiger Toothpick this morning.
