The Sonic Oasis is a music technology channel focusing on sound demos and preset playthroughs to demonstrate some cutting edge technology in this space
I love ur videos bro, the format, the style, the explanation and sound demos are some of my favorites on RU-vid!!!!!!!!! I watch every episode you release
Rop Papen's VST instruments are one of the best you can have,i own Rob Papen's eXplorer 9 collection and there's a huge variety of unique instruments each with their own timbre and sound, a must have,no matter what style of music you're making you find it there !
Great sounding instrument beautifully played, as usual. Likewise, it took me a while to give Papen products a deserved audition, which I did last year. Still haven't purchased any of the company's products, but your excellent demo has invited me to look again. Just checked out Blade 2. Sounds good. Maybe consider that one to review.
There's a number of things which FM8 does very well. 1) The synthesis is vast and has acoustic qualities. 2) All the simultaneous effects, ideal for further sound shaping. 3) The fact it's so old, means it runs like a bullet on today's PC's. So it's easy to make giant arrangements with multiple FM8 instances without taxing the CPU. Got some "FM8-only" examples on my channel... :P Unfortunately FM8 won't be updated anymore. I spoke to people from Native Instruments, and FM8 is basically a dead stick. But alas, in its current form it's still more or less the only non-sample-based synth you'd ever need. It's one of the very few perfect and timeless virtual instruments in history. The only reason why people might not be using it, is because people may not know FM-synthesis, and/or they don't like the silly factory presets (a pleonasm).
Thank you so much, brother, for this precious gift! I will use it in the worship for God's Glory! It's pure magic! Makes simple sounds like the angels' choir!
Interesting question, because this has applied to vintage hardware but should the same apply to software? something that isn't rare and has virtually and unlimited amount of copies 🤔
Yep she still rocks. I even didn't forget the fm7 neither. But it's such a hassle to get it installed. I will soon be rebuilding my DAW. I still need Absynth too tbh.
good stuff, beautiful demo as usual. I got FM8 for like $10 or something like that. I haven't used it much, I didn't even knwo it oculd osund so god. really cool soundbank but too pricey
Gettin' ma papcone 'n' sodee pop ready fa dis un heah! 😃 (Though I already have it in my Ultimate bundle, and have several other VSTs that utilize FM, interested in your take.)
Check out part 1 on my channel, there was no white noise in that one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7vRjtcjp99o.htmlsi=dtE1oUAIko1Jspk8
Alright... somebody slap this satisfied grin off my face. There it is... the first revealed masterpiece from The Master. Beautiful! I love the movements, the arpeggiated progression, the background swells, the saturated elements, etc. ... EDIT EDIT: Been listening several times now. Really nice groove when the guitar like element comes in strumming chords at 0:31. Really nice orchestration and arrangement of the various sonic elements, progressively developing to hold interest and intrigue. Well done! You really prompted my imagination with this, so if I may... bear in mind that the following ideas are coming from someone who has produced NOTHING, yet has the grandest of plans AND the audacity to try to recommend ideas to someone proven much more experienced and talented. 😂I hope you're able to musically and production-wise hear (and see) what I'm imagining. ... a) If ever The Master were to re-Master this very cool piece, how about increasing the stereo spread of the mid and high bands with a smooth crossover, with the high band spread to about 90% full field and the mid band spread to about 50% of full field throughout the song. Adding a bit of subtle LFO modulation to both of these spread amounts of about 10 to 15% each and each at a slightly different rate will give some lovely subtle motion. EDIT: Listening a bit louder, I do hear some amount of stereo spread, but I guess by today's standards, there could be more. b.1) Starting somewhere around 2:25, it would be nice if those background strings increased tension by becoming increasingly melodically active and add potency by smoothly bringing in an octave higher duplicate of those increasingly active strings, both reaching their final volume just as they reach the break, with the octave-higher strings having progressed to 100% stereo spread. b.2) A trailing reverberant hint of what just happened with both strings lingers a bit into the break would be nice. More on that rise: As they become increasingly agitated as they near the break, the original AND octave-higher strings should also increase in volume to eventually envelop and almost smother the arpeggiation, as if they were reaching out to stop the arpeggiation from falling off the cliff, and instead, choose to sacrifice themselves, evidenced by their (the two strings only) reverb ghosts lingering a bit into the break. EDIT: After listening several times, I did here some intentional ghosts, but my imagination wants them wispier and more present. c) I would cut the bottom of the kick somewhat to give the other elements equal attention, UNLESS the sense of a strong, dominating, dramatic heartbeat is intentional, which is actually a great effect as well. EDIT: The extra loudness of the kick bottom could be not enough spectral balance - perhaps it's that there is no bass element during about the first half - which is clearly by design, so a cut on the kick bottom is in order here - and then when it does come in playing call and response with the arpeggiated lead, it seems the bass could use a bit of boost. Then it might bring better spectral balance to the low end, no longer having the kick hammer in that space alone. d) This was added after about another three listens: From 0:31 when the guitar-like sound comes in for about a full minute up to about 1:33 when the low-volume arpeggiation starts, there is no true lead. The violins are sayin "No, not us. We're just here for support and continuity, for now." So, it has to be the guitar - the volume of the guitar should be increased to clear prominence for that entire minute. It's a beautiful sound and presents the cool groove, show should definitely helm the ship until arrival of arpeggiation at which time it accommodates and bows out. e) Haha... I know it's on grid because I played human drum machine to be sure, but no matter how my imagination tries to work around it, the double-beat that comes in shortly after 2:21 wants so badly to hide so the arpeggiation and strings can finish what they started in that measure. Everything works musically better, current and imagined elements, with that double-beat removed... in MY imagination. 😂 EDIT EDIT EDIT: One reason to keep your stereo spread exactly as it is is if you plan on adding orchestral orchestration in the latter half. The current stereo spread would give those elements spaces to live and play in. Ahhh. For the first half, spread your current mix out, then close it back to its current flavor when the orchestration starts to build. Yes. I hear an AMAZING cinematic orchestral development, with your current mix as the foundation. LOL! I actually hear it, actually several versions during my repeated listening. I'm sure you can and probably have imagined the glorious possibilities as well. Ok. I got carried away. Seasoned producers will tell me to "SIT DOWN and SHUT UP!!!", but there's my inspired feedback. 😂 Thanks for sharing! And please don't be shy about sharing more.
Hey brother, Thanks for the feedback👌. Unfortunately this is track I made 7 years ago, I lost the stems and project files when my hardrive corrupted and I had no cloud backups. I really don't mix or master (I just don't have the ear for it) I find producing and beat beatmaking much more fun, so I asked a friend to mix this one for me. I really wish I still had the stems and I would have sent them over to you so I could hear some of your suggestions.
@@The_Sonic_Oasis You're welcome! But you're probably lucky you no longer have the stems. The disaster I would've created would surely have destroyed your hearing beyond repair. Let's try that in another four or five years. I might've developed some worthy talent by then. 😂
Some of these sounds really "warm" and relaxing. You can make Stardew Valley OST style music with this. (PS. Thank you for your excellent presentation and playing beautifully through the presets. I wish good luck for your channel in the future!
Excellent demo, Mfundo! Yeah, without a memory, it's more so regulated to being a live controller. This device has potential with future upgrades as you mentioned. Though design and manufacturing is probably already fixed for the long-term, enlarging the device a bit and adding two or more side-by-side sliders would help facilitate one-handed, multi-finger CCs. BEAUTIFUL playing on the Yamaha. Well arranged! Aaaaaaaaaaand, what's this? I think I have a new favorite outro. 😊 Superb work, Sir! When can we expect the album release?
@@The_Sonic_Oasis From what I've seen and heard from you thus far, I can hardly wait! You've got that natural feel that allows you to emotionally meld and become one with the instrument. I'm so, so, SO far away from that skill. I think I've got a bit of that vocally, but haha, that doesn't really count as my voice can't help to be one with me. Even then, it escapes the fine control I would like to have over it. LOL! EDIT: Before leaving, I was compelled to listen to that outro 20 last times. Really nice. If that's not a real violin, what instrument-preset? And was it just mod and/or aftertouch for the vibrato and dynamics? Some serious emotional touch there, my friend. If it's a signature secret, best to keep it that way. Just be sure to carry it over into that E.P. Seriously, I'm really looking forward to it. 😆
The outro song in this video is not mine unfortunately, I wish I could produce at that level. It's part of the RU-vid creator music library. It called bad snacks by Wallflowers. It's one if my favorite songs and since it's copyright free I thought I should include it in one of my videos.
Very interesting, I am quite bummed this one doesn't have an AAX, and it's not that often I would say such a thing about an A.I. type tool. A shame indeed. Oh well, hope the dev considers updating it for us pro tools users. And please don't anyone tell me to use another DAW. I spent my first year on cakewalk midi, then Logic for TWENTY years with a break in 2005 after Apple stopped the windows version, so I could try find an alternative to avoid moving to Mac (I tried Sonar and Cubase at the time for a year and then moved to Mac lol) and finally, Pro tools for the last 5 years and I love it. I chose it on purpose over S1/Logic/Cubendo etc, all those DAWs because I like the workflow:) Ten minutes with the demo and I was hooked. But we do miss out on a lot of plugins. C'est la vie. I do have Nuendo 13 as well but I decide to sell it as I just don't use it, I love PT that much!
I grew up in a church where everyone was encouraged to learn an instrument, That's where I attribute 80% of my music knowledge and then from there I used youtube to learn certain concepts. I'm still a work a in progress myself but there are plenty resources online that can get you from zero to hero.
Came to the conclusion, it's free for a reason. It is definitely something to get, if you want shimmer and don't want to pay. But I opted to buy Valhalla shimmer, after testing both for a longer time.
This plugin was made as an entry for the KVR developer challenge. It was literally a one man show with very limited time to come up with a usable plugin. Valhalla Shimmer is definitely going to sound better but for what it's worth and how it came to being, SOLARIS punches above it's weight.
Dune made me sell my Virus Snow, the Virus had no soft synth comparisons back in the day of when the best soft synths were probably Z3ta and Vanguard but that has changed with the likes of Dune, Spire and some others. And now with the DSP53600 Virus emu project it only makes more people appreciate how powerful these soft synths are.
Beautiful playing! Beautiful reverb! I was going to pass on this one considering the virtual closet full of nice reverbs I have. However, after listening to your superb demo, I'm strongly reconsidering that decision. It truly is unique in its own right. The presets are fantastic, allowing you to dial in interest and life with a simple preset selection.
Very responsive too, one thing I didn't mention is that almost every parameter can be automated and modulated with envelopes, You can "gate" parameters to only respond at certain levels. This makes it quite interesting when performing live.
I own GForce Oddity3 and am currently subscribed annually to UVI SonicPass (so I'll check I'll be checking HX-Oddy directly soon), but plan to buy the whole UVI kit during Black Friday sales season. Another brilliant demo. Thanks!
Thank you for the demo! I do not know how the original sounds, but the G-Force sounds very good! BTW, G-Force, were is the Yamaha CS-80 and Roland SYSTEM-700? :)
