Nope, if there was anything in the lipstick, gloss, lipliner, that made my throat itch or feel finny... it would be in the go pile no matter how much I loved the colour!!
So interesting, for me I need a bullet lipstick and I really don’t like tinted lip balms. I’m a teacher and I want my lips to look the same from first period through the end of the day. A tinted lip balm needs to be reapplied too much for me to be bothered!
I do think bronzing drops are unnecessary but I will say that some brands needed this to trend in order to make glow drops that work better for tan to deep skin tones For example the glow recipe drops and the kosas spf only had the one shade until they added the bronzer version, so as a tan person I appreciate that and bought those versions Would’ve been better if they came out with those from the start
Your declutters are the best, so logical and organized x) I personally can't stand glosses and too creamy formulas since I somehow always feel their presence on my lips and it kinda irks me xD but I love how you keep everything along with how your tastes change! Really inspires to work on my own too big of a collection x)

i hate how so many brands market for clean beauty-seems more like marketing gimmick than actually helping consumers. Also dont find many drugstore brands have decent formulas for complexion-prefer to buy vegan products when I can find good ones. There are alot more now than when I was younger. I dont really care if brands have like 100+ foundations just that the range is good-and you have to see what their target audience is.
I love the way a bullet lipstick looks, but my lifestyle just doesn't really work for them anymore. I'm a hydrated girly now, usually have at least 2 drinks going at once. A lightly tinted balm or almost clear gloss is me 95% of the time I'm wearing anything on my lips at all.
@JannahO-rs2mu You can do it! Also, one is usually water, and the other is often matcha, so caffeine, possibly countering some of that hydration 😅 we do what we can!
I had to laugh when you said you don't like purple Mauves, that is the main color of "Mauve is a bluish purple, but I do understand I'm a fair cool so pinky mauves are my favorite. Also I tossed all my bullet lipsticks a few months ago, I kept one blue red and one mauve. I've been mostly wearing lip balms with a bit of liner or a sheer gloss, I still love the ones from Milani the Raspberry/peach is my favorite.
@SarahRoseBeauty 🤣 that's ok. we all have our preferences. The Milani glosses are a similar formula to the Covergirl, they last a long while on me, are a bit less stringy/tacky as Covergirl but feel more smooth and they have some great scents if you don't mind that sort of thing, my Covergirl favorite is But First a Cosmo it's really close in color to the Milani Raspberry/peach shade.
You have some of the most considered declutters around, love them. I tend to put a clear gloss over lightly applied bullet lipsticks to make them look more relaxed 😆
I’ve been on a mission the last year or so to decrease the amount of lip products I own too. It was helpful at the time to get to try so many different products but now I know what I wear and frankly don’t need 20 different products kicking around. I’m good with a red, a brown, a nudey berry, and a gloss. But I’ve been trying to use mine up not declutter them, it’s slow going 😅. I’ve used up 4 so far, I’m gonna be here a while lol 🙃
I thought i was a bullet lipstick girl, but other than then looking pretty in the trays I'm not reaching for them, lipliner and gloss are my go to. You did great.. I'm impressed.
Congratulations! That was an awesome declutter. I'm so happy for you that you've really learned what you like and what looks best on you. I also did a declutter earlier this year. Mine was cut throat. I found out my color season was bright winter so my choices now are mostly bold and pinks, so we're opposites. I found it freeing as well. I bought clear display organizers for lipsticks from Amazon, and I paired the matching lipliners with them. I've gotten so much use out of my collection since then.
i’ve also grown bored of bullet lipsticks. when i used to think i’d live and die with my matte lipsticks 😂 lip oils and balms have really sunk their claws into me ✨
I have more issue with "clean" beauty brands for causing over consumption because without preservatives, you truly do have to buy products more often. Not to mention "clean" isn't an officially recognized or regulated term; you can literally slap that label on anything here in the US.
Lol you don't have super dark circles under your eyes. You have a normal amount of color for a fair skin person. You will look back in 10 years and think what was I thinking back then.
My biggest beauty hot takes are: 1. Concealer and foundation are essentially the same thing, and my biggest one: 2. There's only so much innovation you can do with makeup, and I think we're starting to hit the limit and brands are desperate
I don't think cream/liquid products are necessarily tricking you into buying more because they expire faster. But I think there's a novelty aspect to different formulas (or even similar formulas in different delivery systems) that could entice someone to buy more products just because the formula is different. I especially saw that with eyeshadows. There was a trend of individually packaged eyeshadows (cream shadows in pots, liquids with a doefoot, pencils, or just regular powder eyeshadows in their own compact) being advertised as effortless one-and-done shadows. I think for certain people these products would serve a purpose, but for anyone who already owned palettes or magnetic singles it seemed redundant. Any eyeshadow can be used as a one-and-done shade.
Sure trends are not bad per say but at the rate of today’s market it’s unlike any other time we’ve seen before. Trends change every day and marketing and over consumption is a huge part of influencers and social media in general.
I love cream color products! Mostly because I love playing artist and blending custom colors. Unfortunately not every brand makes creams that are ok in non airtight palettes but those that do 😍❤ mixed a peach corrector last night so it would match my cream foundation texture perfectly hehe
I would suggest: get an AC. Because realistically in these days you are not able to live in 80-100 degrees in the way people used to live. I come from place where in summer we have 80-90 and in winter we have 20-50 (central Europe). First of all, the architecture. Old buildings have mostly thick brick or stone walls to keep good isolation from the outside, rooms are deep so you can hide from direct sunlight. They were planting native trees around to keep shadows over the buildings and the ground around it. My mom's house which is over 100 years old keeps temperature of around 72 degrees on the ground floor all summer. On the upper floor it sometimes gets to 80. As long as the nights are around 70 degrees, the inside of the house stays nice and cool during the day too. I remember one summer when it was ridiculously hot all the time and the whole country experienced big problems (like train tracks getting so hot soft that trains couldn't go because they would cause damage or water preassure going down in whole city because there was not enough water) this was the only time the house got a little above my comfort temperature. Also we need to remember that back in the days people's lifestyle was built around seasons. It was just normal and obvious for everybody that during the midday people were just not doing anything. You stay inside or in the shadows, drink a lot of water, lay down and read a book. People were waking up early, working then coming back and resting. The go back to the activities during the evening. Currently the life for most of us doesn't give us this option. For these few hours even doing laundry is difficult and activities you can realistically do are very limited.
Great video! When it comes to the shade ranges, I used to think that brands should do better. I have a very cool tone fair skin and struggle to find Base products that work well. For instance I use a lavender eyeshadow as a blush because typical pinks turn peach on my skin tone. Then I did some research and discovered that most of the population has a more yellow based skin undertone, even up to 70%. Then I began to think about brands that are very popular such as wet n wild and essence that put out very small collections that couldn't possibly be inclusive. But they do that regularly. We know they have marketing and research in their development, so I think as a business they put their investment where they believe the majority of their consumers will spend their money.
My unpopular opinion is that blush on the tip of the nose looks clownish. I just don’t like it!! I’m okay with a little bit on the bridge of the nose, but all over the tip? Why? 😫
The Milk Hydrogrip Primer only works for me if I use a serum-ey and thin type of sunscreen that sinks in well beforehand and then wait at least 10 minutes after applying the primer to do foundation.
In regards to what you said about your cream products expiring, if you've had a product for 4 years it is most likely "expired" technically based on the length of time the manufacturer recommends using it after it's been opened. I think what the commenter meant was that cream products tend to harbor bacteria more easily than powder products. With that being said, I've seen some absolutely gruesome reactions to expired makeup, even powder products. Love this concept as a video and i hope you make more!
Hey that's my comment! Thanks for including it! To expand on what I said, the biggest problem with short form reviews is there isn't enough time or incentive for nuance. Reviews I see in short form are either "This is the best thing ever! Buy it right now!" or "This is literally garbage". On youtube a reviewer can take more time to talk about how much they've tested it, pros and cons, who the product is best for, different product combos, etc. You technically can make longer videos on tiktok, but again, without the big reaction, that audience is more likely to scroll by without watching the full thing. In this very video you talked about that milk primer that works well in the winter, but doesn't mix great with sunscreen. Takes like that just aren't common in short form reviews. ETA: Also it's great that the day my comment end up in your video is my birthday!
