I would to thank all of you viewers that have stuck with me, even though I fell of the scene for over 2 yrs. when I stopped making videos, I just completely stepped away from playing altogether. I sold all my gear and just took a break.
Well the drum bug bit me in my butt in a major way, and so, I am slowly coming back and making videos!
My playing has suffered a bit, but I'm certain, that it will come back with time and practice.
Your continued words of encouragement, really push me to better myself and my plaything and I can't thank you enough for that!
Please stick with me and help spread my videos around and help me get some views!
You guys rule!!

@KevinAlcombrack OK. Thanks. Maybe I missed it in this video, but did you buy the Stage or Studio versions? I think the only difference is the bass drum and floor tom sizes. I think I did hear you say 16" floor tom but could be wrong which would be the Stage version.
@KevinAlcombrack Thanks. I was thinking "Studio" is more for studio, not gigs. But it looks like only bass drum and floor tom sizes are the differences, right? If so, I guess Sonor says, "Studio" rather than "Fusion". I just need the drums to not sound dead but quick attack and project.
That’s correct! These absolutely do not sound dead. They are very punchy, lots of tone and they project very well and the kick drums and so deep and punchy. I’m telling you, I’ve owned DW collectors , and TAMA star classics and imho my Sonor aq2 sound so much better.
Mount the 12" like a suspended floor tom ahead of the floor tom. I've done that before and it works great. I have a Sonor Designer Series 7 piece in Birds eye maple light, green stain. Had em since 96. Love Sonor drums.
I’ve had the Danny Carey sticks for years but my God not on that drum kit… I mean, clearly you can do as you please but I’m interested to hear you play these. BTW, I think you would absolutely love the Vinny Coliuta sticks. He just switched the Vader but they used to be made by Vic Firth. My go to stick for drum set is the jack Dejohnette and the Vinny stick. The Jack stick is the perfect all-around stick and the Vinny stick just has amazing rebound.
Well I’m a hard hitter and play hard rock, prog rock, and blues. I know this may look like a jazz setup, but I rock the heck out of these, and this 20” kick just has so much punch and bottom end and the Tom are just thunderous! Video coming soon!!
lol I’m working on it, I just don’t have any recording equipment, so I’m just going to use my iPhone. I wish I would have thought of making a video about drilling them out, I could just make a video explaining how I did them and the tools I used, would that work? Thank you so much!
Your wife's the MVP for sure! Fortunately I play drums for the church. Every other 2-3 weeks I am serving there probably I could earn some allowance at gigs however I decided to dedicate my time for the Lord & earning to God's time and that value. I really appreciate the church letting me bring my cymbals there Zildjian K sweets 20inch crashes and K dark custom rides. Keep doing what you do and keep playing drums! You're awesome!✌️💪💪👍👍
I played in bands for 10-12 years and basically did the same thing you did. I got burned out and pretty much quit playing for 3 years. Now the fire is back and I’m playing everyday and have even started playing with some musicians again. It gets in your blood and you start missing it after a while
That’s exactly where I am at! The fire is back be playing again, not in any huge rush to join a band, but who knows what the future holds. Thanks for your comment!
We all gotta step back from time to time. But.... sometimes.it just meeds to be the player, and the instrument. And thats it. To rediscover the love and the fun, most importantly
GREAT VIDEO! I have had the privilege to play an AQ2 White Marine Pearl kit as a house kit at a nice bar and grill in NC with my duo!! They have the "bigger" sizes with a 10"/12"/16" and 22x16" and MAN do I LOVE LOVE playing that drum set so so much!
@@KevinAlcombrack Dude you would LOVE it!!! I actually would recommend a 16” floor tom with your set, at my church we have a 10/12/ rack toms 14 & 16 floor toms with a 20” kick! It works really well!!
Nice kit, I bought the Sonor Aq2 bop about 4 years ago, and then added a 20x16, 8/10 and 16 to make a shell bank all in WMP. They are great drums. For the record - I owned a Gretsch Brooklyn kit with similar sizes.. and the sonor kick drum blew the gretsch out of the water. The gretsch fit and finish was better and it tuned up a little easier. The sonor had a bit more cut and aggression to it, but still maintained a good punch mid-low frequency. I used them on my bands latest record back last year, and was not disapointed. Congrats on the new kit!
Dude you are a great drummer but you added way too much. A drum cover is supposed to be done as close to the original as possible. Maybe you can revisit the song
I have the Design Series equivalent Snare Drum. There is no 3 lever switch. My OCD has taken over trying to get to that "Sweet Sound". I've tried 3 different Batter heads. HD Dry , UV1 , UV2 and now a Power Center. When I ourchased this drum USED, it came with a HD Dry Batter head. Sounded terrific right out of the box. Now I replaced the batter head ]HD Dry, and then the others] and I can't get to that same Tuning Sweet Spot? Anything I'm missing - How tight is the Reso Head? Table Top tight?
I bought the 14 X 6.5 DW snare USED in 2021. Mine does NOT have that 3 level switch for the Snare Wires? Was it missing or removed by the previous Owner? I purchased it from Reverb. It came with a HD Dry Head which I immediately liked right out of the delivery box. It was Tuned High and had a great crack and sustain. However, I have since replaced the Batter Head with another HD Dry and Cannot achieve the same sound, no matter how I tune and re-Tune it ? I've also yried various different heads: UV1, UV2 and now a Power Center (Evans) and cannot get to that same sound. I'm a relative Novice at Drum Tuning. I did achieve a Terrific sound form the DW when I placed on top of my 16 Inch Floor Tom and when I hit it - BINGO it sounded exactly how I wanted it to. Ludwig Supraphonic - John Bonham sound. However, after lifting it off the Floor Tom, it is not as Good (with the smae HD Dry Batter Head). Posters on Forums have said that I am getting the resonance from the Tom through the Snare. How do I get that Bonham sound I so desire, without having to lace the drum on a Floor Tom?
not king of IEMs not even close. these are still work IEMs through and through. even the half-as-expensive er2xr is a way better entertainment IEM than this. verious iterations of er4's all have a very 2-dimentional super boring sound. detailed and accurate yes. everything else no. for the same price, moondrop blessing 2 is a way better entertainment IEM. and if you want to talk about "king of IEMs" both in terms of work and entertainment, start with sennheiser ie600 for a mind blower, then move your way up to ier-z1r, monarch etc.
Wow I saw this video 10 years ago! And today I was at an Irish bar when this song was played...as a fellow drummer, I immediatly remembered this video and here I am watching it again! Great drumming man. May your brother RIP!
