Man I haven't watched that video in a long time but, not really, aluminum is pretty soft and you've just got to be careful not to go too deep. But it sufficed for the time being.
It won't do ceramic, serrated, or single edge blades, there is a size requirement as well, can't be too big or too small. The machine will let you know.
I do, but one of the latch bolts has stripped out and I gotta do some thinking on how to fix it or just replace with a new one!!!! But the first two came out with no bubbles at all! Maybe I waited a little bit longer for the resin to settle with the first ones.
@@Reaper_Actual556 Yeah it is a bummer but I think it was my own fault I know I over tightened one of them but I'm pretty crafty and I do work at a hardware store so I might be able to fix this one again but in all honesty I'd like a 5 gal. pressure pot. & vacuum chamber. Do you know if anyone out there makes a combination of both a pressure pot and a vacuum chamber in one???
@@Reaper_Actual556 I have a vacuum chamber and a pressure pot, unfortunately both of them are on the fritz right now. Haven't had much time here lately to give them a good once over and determine what they need.
The reason it cracked was it was green and has moisture in it.. shrink wrap the outside to prevent rapid moisture loss. weight the bowl and put the value in numbers with the date on the bottom of the bowl.. Place the bowl in you attic for 3 months to dry it out.. Then recast the bowl after the wood is dry.. and finish the turning of the bowl..
The moisture meter was reading between 7 and 9 % when I turned it. I had that piece of Japanese Cedar in the oven at 200 f 4 times at 3hrs per, still around 20 something and then in a vacuum chamber trying to dry it out for 3 months changing out the towels and silica packs weekly it was at 11% at that point then I let it sit in the back seat my car baking in the sun for another two months
@@turninandburnin8798 the rule I’d thumb is for every 1 inch of thickness it takes 1 year so a piece 6 inches thick takes 6 years.. Unless you turn it to one inch thick..then one year to dry it out..air dry.
Greatly appreciated! I would love to be able to record videos that I could speed up but I just don't have the time for setting up shots/angles and editing unfortunately. And again thank you!!!! There is more of this Cedar to come!!!
You should have your Green Ground from the Plug grounded to the frame of the transformer.. The same place as your Black lead to the Battery Clamp would work fine.. Frame Ground.
Yeah, I've rewired it since. But I don't hardly use this one anymore. I got an Alanson oil heater transformer I use now. Speaking of which I haven't put any fractal burns on any thing in a little while, time to do it again, problem is once you get started you don't want to stop.
That was my initial thought but the bubbles move when you push on them and separate the resin from the wood you can see where the air bubble travels a little bit I'm just not sure how far around the air bubbles I should go. I honestly think I'd be better off just to sand it all back down.
Hello, sorry to bother you again with questions, the fractal in the video, with which of the two voltages did you do it (2200 V or 10000V)? Thank you very much and a big greeting from Argentina.
No worries Jorgel! I used a microwave transformer for this one which puts out around 2,000 v/ 500 mA. Have you seen anybody out there doing this or any similar art work around you In Argentina anywhere?
@@turninandburnin8798 Hello, as I want to decorate a large table (2.2 m x 1 m) I have been watching more than fifty videos on RU-vid about this practice, almost all of them show the technique, but there are few that we can call "art". In my country there are about three or four people who uploaded videos about it, but nothing remarkable, more about how to prepare the transformer or safety practices. What I am trying to do, with uncertain results, is that the "burn" spreads from a single electrode to the other, that is, in only one direction. I don't know if I'm clear. Have you tried this? Can you tell me something about it? Thanks and regards
Very efficient, after about five minutes you can turn the regulator back down and just let that little blue rocket flame keep the chill at bay!!!! I'm gonna build a couple more for a buddy of mine as well!
I didn't finish with anything, it's polished to 5000, I just got my hands on some Micro Mesh polishing pads that go up to 12,000 I think I'm going to put it back on the lathe and put them to it and see what I get!
Dude this is stunning just found your channel sub done gonna binge through your other videos. I'd love to do this but am in no way capable of building this myself. Untill I can find a qualified electrician I trust to build it so it's idiot proof for me then unfortunately ill just have to enjoy people doing it. 👍🏴
Thanks Michael! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I do have a lot of fun with it though it's been a while since I've actually performed one. In all honesty I kind of doubt you'll find somebody to build one for you and as far as being idiot proof that requires serious safety protocols that must be strictly adhered to. But I do have a few fractal burnings planned for the future!!! Thank you for watching and stay safe!!!
