Pico Technology was established in 1991. Since then we have become a world leader in the field of PC--based real time oscilloscopes, sampling oscilloscopes, data loggers, and automotive diagnostic equipment.
Pico Technology is recognised for providing innovative, cost--effective alternatives to traditional test equipment and data acquisition products; by doing this we have made high quality instrumentation affordable. Our innovation, experience and passion, combined with customer feedback, has helped us to push the boundaries of test equipment design.
We offer all of our customers unbeatable technical support, with our team of experts on call to assist them with their product selection.
I accidentally switch on 1 demo all loggers, end up my Picolog 6 hanged, I tried to install uninstall, its still there. I clear cached. still not working. How to solve it ya?
Hi @j.m.5995 this is a T&M only PicoScope, it will not work with the Automotive software. Check out www.picoauto.com/ for our selection of Automotive PicoScopes.
what a teaser. common now... at least let us know if it's automotive or a real scope. an upgraded mdo 3406D with higher bit resolution per channel would be sick
Thanks for the link. It wasn't really what I was looking for. I'm really looking for ways to apply some of the advanced triggering types to real world automotive application. I would like to find a way to create a fault in a car and then show students how that fault can be detected using one of the advanced triggers in the Pico software. I currently have simulated a Runt but I can't seem to get the trigger to reliably trigger on it. I will say the runt dues have a variable spike when it is turned on and this might be creating some runt triggering inconsistencies.
Both methods work and there is one more that also works really well using an IC, there are many simple circuits such as dual AND Gates, 555 timer, and even some purpose made debounce IC's. It keeps the edges fast if thats desirable. Some Families of IC's can't handle slow transition edges and does not tie up the processor.
I bought a 2204A. Cost £100 from RS. The Picoscope software has WAY more features than a £1000+ scope. I'm not affiliated with Picoscope, but you get one helluva lot of bang for your buck. The top end units offer UNRIVALLED value for money. I really don't see how other manufacturers can compete. There's even an SDK so you can develop your own applications! Seriously, forget Hantek or Owon USB scopes, PLEASE don't waste your money. Their software is buggy, and if you have a problem, good luck with support. Problems with your Pico? Their support will be all over it for you. They even set up a system to see if they can recreate the issue and find a solution. FAULTLESS product, backed by FLAWLESS customer support.
Hi @fieryfirevivin, you can use 'persistence mode' to create diagrams with similar functions to eye-diagrams, for more information check out www.picotech.com/library/oscilloscopes/digital-persistence-modes or email our tech support at support@picotech.com
Is it possible to decode UART serial digital bytes also with the analog probes? I don't want to buy a full MSO model, the price difference is too high. 2204A should be enough for my basic hobbyist-level Arduino and sensor tinkering needs if only it supports basic digital serial decoding with analog probes.
Hi @camelCased , yes, serial decoding can be done using the analog channels and probes. Check out the examples in this video using the analog channels A and B: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QcnxiTj8Y3Q.html
Any chance of a "getting started" video to actually demonstrate how use the software? Don't think the majority of people browsing for picoscope videos would be too impressed with a zero-explanation features advertisement
Hi James, thanks for the feedback. We have a getting started video coming up soon. In the meantime, check out our PicoBYTE series for more in-depth start to finish tutorials: ru-vid.com/group/PLXdIXoaAvwJvQaa99LEDjV0DY3HaJD_WF
Hi @PrvtHudson1 PicoScope 7 software is currently only officially supported for Windows, macOS and Linux. Feel free to contact support@picotech.com for more information or possible solutions!
Hi @mandytuning , Roger is using an external signal generator for this tutorial. Please consult your generators manual to switch from 1 to 4 cycles. If you want to follow this tutorial using your PicoScopes Signal Generator, feel free to get in touch with support@picotech.com
I recently bought a Pico 2406 12 bit scope. With a Feelelec FY6800/6900 14 bit dual channel DDS signal generator, you can easily see -130dBc re 1vrms to beyond 1MHz. Use the DDS as a frequency locked phase inverted signal around device under test. THD 'floor' = SFDR of scope plus null depth of the DDS. Be careful that no distortion products mix with sampling frequency of the scope that can mix back into measurement bandwidth, ie use a filter (80kHz, 200kHz or a notch with filter for class D amplifiers). The guys at Wavetek sell the Danui manufactured model FY6900. Probably the best lo cost China import DDS. I also have a GW Instek 2204eg that is capable of same in only one box. Both setups are less than $1600us and rival Audio Precision systems without all the bells & whistles for R&D or repair of professional 24 bit audio. note: Pico has a log frequency scale FFT and is simple to battery power. 👍 Rigol has a new 'cheap' 12 bit scope that may work at lower cost, too. If you think your ears are better than -100dBc, I got some swamp land in Florida for sale as the saying goes. ...former technical director of an RF test equipment manufacturer with 25 years live sound reinforcement & recording😎 May 21, 2011 was the beginning of judgement day on the world { you were warned }. Hi @jugnu361, we provide the PicoSDK API and examples in a variety of different programming languages. It's optimized for high-performance control of the 6000E. Whereas the 6000E is not SCPI compliant. For more information visit www.picotech.com/library/oscilloscopes/picoscope-software-development-kit-sdk or contact our support team at support@picotech.com
